    Holy crap! All this time I thought I just had a bunch of disorganized interests! But now I'm finding out that all my main interests in psychology, sociology, history, politics and geography are entirely related! This video really helped me find a breakthrough in myself, thank you!

    Love this video so much!!! so simple to understand. I do think geography has been mis-represented here. It's not just about how location affects societies, it's about how countries and governments relate to eachother, how the world operates such as through globalisation, aswell as urgent environmental issues such as the Climate Emergency.

      Basic Social Sciences should be Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Linguistics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Disciplines like Communication, Social Work, and Counseling are considered Applied Social Sciences. As time continues to evolve, more disciplines arise and claimed themselves as Social Sciences disciplines.

    Fooled, you say! Can you demonstrate how the division of labour is not paramount to creating wealth? How an increase in the supply of normal goods (which you find in a grocery or supermarket) will not lead to a diminution of their prices? How investors are not guided by the prices of the market and how these investments aren't coordinated over time and space? Or how trade usually makes us worse off?

    Our conception of race is socially constructed, which means it has bearing on sociology. The fact that our actual genetics don't have much to do with what we imagine race to be still doesn't invalidate the fact that a sociologist could rightly ask what someone's race was.

    I loved this cute animation, very helpful quick intro for understanding the field I spent 10 years in college studying. But... with the current awareness and emphasis on gender equity, all of the HE/HIM dominated examples- especially of white, hetero-normative male he/him as the main subject... seemed a little dated... and even irritating. Especially for such a cutting edge field of awareness of the human condition like the social sciences. I realize this is from 2011- Are you working on a new video?

      History can provide information to validate social science theories, but can you have a theory about history, that doesn't include social science. History is a very worthwhile study, but how are statistical methodologies useful for proving theorems in History (the science part) ?

    • @yusukeo2130
      @yusukeo2130 10 лет назад +3

      commandersprocket History can require the use of statistics to strengthen an argument or theory. Many historians incorporate statistical analysis in their methodologies. For instance, read any book covering the topic of labor relations in the 19th-20th centuries; you will find more statistical analysis than you could ever want.
