My wife and I are Sai Kung regulars who have found Ms Lam to be an absolutely wonderful caring, capable and talented lady who makes, cooks and serves really delicious wonton noodles as well as many other tasty dishes. Her restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
I don't even know this woman but I am soooo proud of her. I would say this is her restaurant with the loving memory of her husband and father. The restaurant has her identity in it and her attachment to it is very much reflected in her customers that say it is just like a home when being there. Bless her and her family.
This woman's perseverance is insane. Having two of her closest family members being diagnosed with cancer after her business folded, and re-building everything after that. I don't think I could do half of what she did
I'm really aware of what this family went through. This video really touched me, this woman is pure strength and full of life. Thank you Goldthreat for bringing us these stories and dedicate this to regular people who maybe think they're nothing special but oh my they are. If I would be there, I would love to get those healthy and yummy looking food. Lots of love and greetings.
She reminds me of my mom! Who run her business when we were young for our sake of survival. This woman is truly, lovely, and wholesome warrior. Thank you so much!
Beyond the wontons & soup looking and sounding incredible, the owner seems so strong, kind, and elegant. What an amazing story! I’m glad the focus was a little more on her story here.
She is an amazing woman. She really committed to her husband and caring until the end. My hat off to her that never quit and devoted what her husband left their business behind.
When I heard she said the best time was in hospital bed with her hubby, I shed tears, heart broken. I wish you and your family all the best and luck. 祝你们全家幸福!
What a heart breaking story and at the same time a story of triumph and perseverance. This is so inspiring. 🧡🧡🧡 She's another example how mothers set a modern hero for children and her passion for cooking.
What a lovely story to accompany her wonton mein, I love hearing Cantonese, I'm Cantonese born in Johannesburg, South Africa, so I've never experienced Cantonese culture, what we know is from our grandparents,so watching this video makes me so proud to be Cantonese 👲👲👲
Another proud Cantonese here. Cantonese Cuisine is probably the best in the world because there is a major emphasis on freshness. Beside Ms Lam's WONDERFUL Wonton + Seur Gao, we have other delicious and delightful Dim Sum, Cantonese Roast Duck/Goose,(superior to the Peking wannabe)Char Siu, + Lobster with Black Bean Sauce,
Respect to this lady inside she might be broken but she never gave up.Inspite of her husband's addiction and everything she took care of him till the end.
Thank-you for posting another video in Cantonese. I don't have any Chinese friends who speak Cantonese and my older sister, mother and father passed away recently so there goes my source of speaking and listening to Cantonese. i love the videos where the person speaks Cantonese. My mom spoke Cantonese, Mandarin as well as Haka. Dad only spoke Cantonese with some Mandarin. My aging aunts and uncles still living don't speak Cantonese to me. Back in the late 60's when my family left Hong Kong to immigrate to Canada, Cantonese is spoken by everyone in and around Hong Kong. Sadly overtime more and more people are speaking Mandarian which is illogical to me as I know and was taught the history and origins of how Mandarin came to be. It isn't a true language of the Chinese people. Though ignorantly it got adapted and made official as such because it is easier to learn.
It's even more of a struggle for my families heritage. Basically after my grandma and great uncle leave this world there won't be anymore Hoisan for me.
I’m very touched after watching this clip. Such an inspirational woman! I will definitely make my way there when I’m in Hong Kong next time! Thanks for posting these awesome videos!
Yo that was the saddest video I ever saw on this channel. Her best moments was with her husband who was dying my goodness what a tear jerker. Life is beautiful spend it with those who you adore.
As I was watching I thought - it takes a special woman/person to persevere through and do what all she has done and with that smile. I thought - that’s bigger than one person’s ability and then thought I think/hope she’s a person of faith. Sure enough, right as I thought that, she mentioned God and there’s a cross in the background in the wall. Beautiful
One more thing to add to that thought - when she talks about singing songs with her husband in the hospital, the translation in the video says "songs", but in Cantonese I do believe she is saying "hymns".
Even though Hong Kong is presently facing many political problems, it is extraordinary strong residents like Ms Lam that will keep this world class city GREAT. Ms Lam's Wonton + Seur Gao look highly juicy + scrumptious; better than many Michelin Star restaurants.
this was really beautiful & makes me realize how hard some struggles can be but the most important thing is staying consistent & never give up. I hope she keeps thriving in life she deserves it all!!
SCMP recently had a video RE HK's highest life expectancy. It is PRECISELY because of tough, kind, smart, beautiful people like Ms Kam, whom not only survived, but even THRIVED against all adversities, that HKongers live so long, having been forged by hardships. Yes, the Wonton Shop is DEFINITELY her baby. Extremely gratifying to see her son wrapping the wontons.
Hearing the si tau po speak Cantonese made me feel so nostalgic~. Now I want some wonton noodle soup or wonton lo min. >.< There's this place called Lin Son Seng in Macau that I used to go to growing up. All of their noodles are very good, but I would get brisket or wonton the most. Either with regular egg noodles or the flat kind. Their home made spicy oil is probably the best I've ever had in my life. No offense to Lao Gan Ma, but freshly made spicy oil is just on a different level. I think the last time I went back, I found out that they actually started selling it in jars because it was so popular. Fragrant and spicy. It just has really good flavor!
Hey I try the wonton mien at this place... its so delicious and warm especially in winter time (we visit HK in December back then). You need to go by bus or small travel car from Po Lam... You cant go to Saikung by MTR...
When my dad and I visited his family in China and HK I always eat wonton noodle, until my dad sigh "why wantan mian again? Eat anything else lah" it's such a good comfort food. You can't go wrong with that

That was beautiful. Thank you for giving her an outlet for the world to know her struggles.
Restaurants like these should exist forever. They are treasures.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Thank you for adding the address on the description box so people can visit the shop. The wonton noodle looks so good!

I would eat there every single day if I lived there. What a wonderful lady.
She’s a blessing for staying strong for her family
What a heart breaking story and at the same time a story of triumph and perseverance. This is so inspiring. 🧡🧡🧡 She's another example how mothers set a modern hero for children and her passion for cooking.
I wish her success. People like her is what makes HK great. I need to make it a point to patronage her shop next time I am there.
What looks to be a simple shop from the outside actually holds so much history.

mandarin not being a “true language of the chinese people” is literally the stupidest, most elitist fucking thing i have ever read

Their love for each other is the definition of till death do us part. She's one strong woman.
What a sad story. What a strong mom and wife
Her food is good because she cooks with her heart, hope to visit one day.
Such a strong woman, I could watch so much more of her.
so refreshing to hear cantonese, makes it feel like home

Let's all go visit this amazing place and support independent eateries like these.
This is so moving. I wish I could go and support her business and get some amazing wantons!
What a story. Wishing her all the best.
店主的饺子里装满了非常新鲜的虾和猪肉,配上薄薄的鸡蛋面和热腾腾的肉汤。
每个馄饨汤都是他们混合的肉汤
What a strong and caring lady. Best wishes to her always. 🤗

Wonton Noodle is like a dream.
Respect and love to you from new zealand ❤
One of my favourite wonton noodle restaurants ❤
When my dad and I visited his family in China and HK I always eat wonton noodle, until my dad sigh "why wantan mian again? Eat anything else lah" it's such a good comfort food. You can't go wrong with that
I love wontons and dumplings. I would love to eat at this place.
The store was her therapy. And right there and then what kept her living and sane
I'll pay her restaurant a visit when I visit in Saikung~ ❤️
That was awesome. Bet she will be busier than ever soon! 🙏🏾
She's wonderful
HK wanton noodle still my favorite choice! I m from Singapore

Bucket listing this restaurant. Must come here someday.
