My school was at Kowloon Tong (St George"s School) and seldom walked all the way to Sham Shui Po army camp married quarters. On route, I would sample anything from street hawkers to restaurants serving roast pork or duck with rice. Nothing beats Hong Kong, my all time fav place on planet earth. Thanks for posting this. I am a Hong Kong native. I am in the states now and want to move back, I so miss the food there. I plan on moving back once I retire. Please keep posting more videos of HK. Take care!
Best for last you went to Ai Wensheng/Oi Man Sang 愛文生. As you say the best dai pai dong in H.K. The beef/potato is first deep fried. Then drained then fried/sauced in the wok. Love the egg/beef sandwich. Try a bowl of macaroni/beef tomato soup. Thanks really enjoyed this vlog.
Great video Janice, brings back memories when I stayed with my Aunty who lived in Sham Shiu Po Loved the Rice rolls there & you should get the congee miss those won ton noodles too Sydney just cannot do win ton noodles like HK My breakfast go to everyday 😂
Hong Kong has some really great food.. I really love the the last restaurant those dishes looks delicious.. I always love your description of the food and the history on the restaurants ..Your vlogs are amazing always Janice ..x❤️🥰❤️
Oh my... I am heading to Hong Kong on Friday for a solo weekend trip and I thought I knew what I wanted to seek out and eat... then you show such awesomeness. After being blown away a few weeks ago with your Verace Pizzeria recommendation here in Sydney, I can't wait to try some of these specialties, especially the Wontons in soup. 😁
This made me miss HK so much! So many places to eat! Have you been to Tsim Chai Kee on Wellington St. next to the mid-levels escalator? It’s the absolute best.
Hi Janice. Always love watching your vlogs. When did you film? I was there in early April and would been bummed if I walk straight passed you 😂 Keep the vlogs coming. I ❤ Hk
Your videos make me miss travelling. I really have to start back later this year. I love wandering down streets I've never seen before. Keep enjoying your journeys, and sharing with us.
@@JaniceFung I had a Eurotrip planned for April 2020, with the highlight being a trip to Barcelona to see Messi play before he retired. And you know what happened 😕
Geez that looked so good. I could almost smell! Would love to try the rice rolls and the Wonton soup, the silky tofu, everything at Oi Man Sang 😋. It's a feast for the eyes.
Guessing your parents originally lived in Kowloon 😁 How do the wontons you had compare to Mak Un Kei with taste and price? Can you recommend any good places for fish skin dumplings?
I wanna visit the Dai Pain Dong place! I can taste the wok hei through the screen haha and that chicken wow. lol the bloopers at the end, I can relate 🤣
You’re making us hungry 😋 We miss HK street food! Look forward to your next vlog ☺️ btw it must have been nice to visit when it wasn’t crazily hot and humid!
Must try Hong Kong porridge. I have them almost everyday. So out of the world delicious. G-cheong, I have to say the Ipoh Style in the old town restaurant (No 2 Row Restaurant) wins. Best fresh soft silky flat noodles and the mince meat mushroom oyster sauce & curry sauce pork skin choices, toppings with lots of fried shallots, pink sauce, chilli sauce wins.
I LOVE hk congee too Wendy! Any go-to favourites? Pork and thousand year egg is always one of my faves. I don’t think I’ve heard of pink sauce before, what is that??

A lot of Hong Kongers that I know dislike to be associated with "Chinese"......especially when it is related to their unique identity. Cheers. Doing a great job about introducing my second home Hong Kong to the world.

i always want to go to these dai pai dong but i'm mostly by myself whenever i go to hong kong and my hong kong family don't like dai pai dong fml😩😆 maybe i should hit up some dai pai dong tour next time if there's any

the shrimp roe noodles they also drizzle some pork lard on to it to make it more fragrant and glistening.... also dai pai dong licence will not be renewed when the current owner retires or dies.... it cannot be transferred or sold
ohh that makes so much sense re shrimp roe noodles! yeah I was reading up on the licenses; the rules for license transfers are so strict it's inevitable that the number of Dai pai dongs will slowly dwindle..
