    So appreciate these lab videos, Grant! Was just thinning and duffing my 56 degree at the range today. Now I know why! Really like when you focus on one thing - shaft lean with ball position. Focusing on too many things can be too confusing, but this is prime advice!

    I advice people to figure out which wedge in their bag has the most comfortable amount of bounce on it, to achieve this “brushing of the grass”. Your PW won’t typically have enough bounce on it. Mine is my 52 degree, and when I need more height, my 57. Just like he said…. Opening the face a little at setup will expose more of the bounce for ya. This truly is game changing info. Good job, as usual, Grant. Love your content. I shot even par(72) today. Was 3 under, at one time.

  • @Reffitt2
    @Reffitt2 2 года назад +1

    Great video, Grant! I play the ball off my back foot when I'm trying to keep the ball low, but as you said, you have to return the shaft to vertical at impact. I also narrow my stance a lot when chipping off my back foot, which is critical with the ball position. The further forward the ball is in your stance the higher the ball will go into the air. I typically want the ball low so it'll starting rolling like a putt quicker on the green. It's all about utilizing the bounce though as you said, Grant! Opening the face can also create more side spin so the ball will tend to move right when it lands. You either need to have a "draw" feeling of closing the face to get the face square at impact (what it looks like Grant is doing since he naturally plays a draw) or play left of the flag to account for this.

    you have helped me so much for months you all from GoodGood I have been playing for 8 months and am currently playing a +20-25 my swing looks really good almost professional only the consistency is still missing and I am not always right now but it will be fine . I've always filmed myself trying to emulate your style and it works great. Unfortunately, I am already 30 years old, but my goal is to have a single-digit hcp at some point. I hit my PW about 130yards and my Driver 250yards. I've just gotten to the point where I don't know how to get 300 yards with the driver I hope it's just technique. It would be great if you could analyze my swing, but with the thousands of submissions, many are likely to get lost. I just wanted to say thank you, maybe you read that. thank you very much and stay healthy. thank you from Germany.

I notice my natural backswing causes me to have an open club face at impact causing a slice or low cuts that don’t really go anywhere. Loved the video; I got used to playing this way after last summer but then ... Winter golf here in Vancouver BC got me to use, I guess more of a punch shot, with a closed face becuase of the longer wetter grass. I found this way using the bounce/open face in that condition will cut too much under it and fizzle dead becoming short from the target. The club would loose momentum more with the bounce/open shot. Keep in mind i'm still not chunking it with this punch shot and just kissing the ground with the bounce.
    I guess what i'm trying to say there is a time and place for each type of chip...
    Now its almost summer here, I'll be using the bounce and open face more again. but not till it stops raining goddammit.
    GOOD good should come here and play some Canadian golf :)

    This works great and I was totally stabbing at it before causing me to duff chips. However, I can't seem to get a good rhythm when it is a short 7 foot chip as I revert back to an accelerating stab due to not being able to have a bigger backswing... what kind of tips do you have for that?

    Do you have to open the face when doing that? Try to use the bounce but end up blading the ball.

    Ground is hard as concrete here on a sunny day and every time i try to slide the club under i blade it over the green. Do i get a lower bounce wedge? My 60 wedge is mid bounce.

    I have moderate success with this. When I open the face a struggle with blading the leading edge into the middle of the ball and sending it way far.
