Watched this twice between Friday and Sunday. Practiced at range this morning, then walked 9 holes this evening. SUPER HELPFUL. My head was tilted back like driver set up and hands forward like low bum and run, hands ahead of everything. I evened my body, got my head pretty centered and choked down, then lightens grip and swung back and through with even swing, turning all the way through to the target. Course was empty this evening and I was able to drop several extra balls to do pitch shots from 40 yards into 3 feet. Most went well. One chipped in. Really happy with the results!
love this series where you bring in real golfers, and i mean mid to high handicappers with everyday issues we see on the course, it is so much more relatable to our games week in week out and not seeing a pro standing there going this is easy just do this(no disrespect to you too) but when you see golfers just like you with the same issues and you guys putting in the time and effort to show how you go about solving it and we see real results it is very encouraging. What a great video well done lads keep up the amazing work.
Ok guys... There's no mistake that over the years I've loved your content... This video in my opinion is probably the best video I've ever seen throughout all the tutorials out there, not just because of the new colour shirts but you've got someone there who does something we all do, but you not only help the guy in what to do but the part where Andy came forward to the camera and address everyone to explain and show what you were doing and why was just pure genius and that alone will probably help more people to understand and makes them feel like it is them stood there being taught and not garath, brilliant video and I hope this is the way forward for you guys because even though you're up there with the best of them... This video definitely stepped you up there into a new league which others would nee to follow by your example 👍 well done guys and keep up the good work 👋
Gareth's story is my story! Setup issues, swing thoughts, dejection and lack of confidence, double hits and blading it over the green. I totally get it. So glad I found this and can't wait to try it out.
these videos are FANTASTIC. I'm 43 years old and haven't golfed seriously in over a decade. And as someone with a lot of playing experience, but no REAL guidance, these videos have been game changer. Really appreciate the work!
Last year, when I hit a patch struggling with frequent shanks, I practiced half then full shots with my eyes closed. I made decent contact every time and didn't hit a single shank. I learned to trust my swing mechanics. I still do the drill occasionally to 'tune my trust'. It works really well for putting too, especially in helping to 'feel' distance control.
@meandmygolf - Hey again guys. I haven't gotten around to chipping quite yet. Nor have I done much work on my driver. I've spent the last eight months reviewing your irons and wedges lessons, again and again and again. I've finally found a swing that will repeat and make decent contact, thanks to your videos and one small thing I remembered from my past. I never had much trouble chipping way back then, but this video just serves to reinforce my technique and helps me focus to not stray into bad habits. Another absolutely perfect lesson. Thanks. The driver is next!
Took the advice from your video to our club's practice facility today and instantly had success. The combination of the light grip, choking down on the club, and maintaining the "Y" with my arms/club was game changing. I holed several chips and left dozens and dozens within a manageable 4-5 feet range. If you're struggling with your chipping, THIS IS THE VIDEO TO WATCH! Thank you!!
I had the privilege of getting this same advice from Andy himself on Barcelona, had to say it work, i have been suffering yips for 5 years, and now they are magically gone. Thanks guys, really appreciate.
I can’t thank you enough for this video! Short game used to be the best part of my game, hit some consistently bad shots and just lost all confidence. I tried to shorten up my swing. I went out to the course tonight with this video, loosened my grip (which was very tight from shot anxiety) took it back fuller with soft hands and it felt like the me of old. Such simple advice but so meaningful!
This was gold for me. I’m an 11 handicap and do great off the tee and with my middle and short irons. Chipping and short pitches are my utter downfall. You guys may have lowered my handicap in all honesty. Thank you so much!
You're title is correct. This video has changed my life. I was terribly inconsistent inside of 70 yards. Now I'm pin high nearly every time. Going over bunkers is now easy, and my number of saves had skyrocketed. Thanks guys.
First time seeing your video(s). When I saw two teachers instructing I thought to myself “how does that work?” But when I watched the video and saw you were in lock step complimenting each other’s thoughts and then speaking directly to the camera as if it were a second student…brilliant! Great content, I’ll be a new subscriber.
Really liked how Andy took us aside to talk about the principles of what we’re trying to accomplish while Pierce worked on the player. I think (though we all have them) the individual faults of another player can be a bit mundane in the videos. But rather than just cut away, I like that you took advantage of the fact you have two coaches. It was a nice touch from a content providing/producing perspective. Thanks!
This is THE BEST instructional video I've seen for my chipping issues period and I swear that I've watched 100's if not 1000's of them. I really identify with the student. I am so riddled with anxiety hitting a chip shot at times that I literally whiff at the ball. When I do make contact I have the same outcome of double hitting, blading or grounding the club before the ball. I can't thanks guys enough. I know golf is just a game and supposed to be fun but if you can't chip it destroys your confidence and makes golf a miserable thing to do.
I watched this morning and then went out. Just the step of closing my eyes and taking a practice swing with whichever club I need to use has been very helpful for getting the right feel.
Great to have this video to refer back to, the tips have changed my chipping game already and brought my scores down since the lesson not so long ago. Forever grateful and hopefully this video is useful for lots of others struggling on the same things. MAMG are game changers. Thanks Piers and Andy
A HUGE thanks to you for this. Not for the shocking pink jumpers but for the chipping tip. I’ve been struggling for ages with chipping and despite lessons and watching heaps of RUclips vids i couldn’t sort it out. Then I watched this and recognised myself in your student as I was going g exactly the same thing and from the same awful position. Went on the course yesterday and it was just transformed. 3 up and downs from off the green, no duffs and just felt so easy and natural. No stress no worrying and it also had an effect on my whole round as I wasn’t thinking about the duff on the last green when I was on the next tee. Brilliant. Just brilliant 🤩 thanks
I found this video by accident. I don't know if it changed my life, but it has certainly changed my chipping! The first day after watching this, someone watching me chip during my round commented on how good my contact was. That has never happened before! Thank you!!
Never knew how to hit chip shots, never practiced them either. Used the practice green at my club last night and followed the instructions in this video: First 3 shots were struck perfectly and 4th shot holed it from 14 yards Amazed at how effortless these shots are to perform. Thank you for the video. We are lucky to have access to these videos for free. 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this. Have struggled forever with chipping consistency and just went out in the backyard to try this out. Keeping shoulders more square, not tilting head and lighter grip pressure immediately improved my consistency and accuracy. You guys rock!
This is an outstanding instructional video. First video I've seen from you, I did exactly what u taught Gareth, and i couldn't believe the results and the consistency of my strike. I subscribed immediately to get all your vids and look forward to going thru your archive!
This is me. I had a session in my back yard one night after a bottle (or so) of wine and chipped like Phil .. sadly I sobered up. Mind over matter. I now often chip one handed as the result is much better and less embarrassing than double hits and duffs.
Amazing video, this is exactly what I’m doing. Playing to 8 or 10 handicap with horrendous pitching and chipping. This is absolutely soul destroying. I can completely empathise with this guy. Thank you SO much for doing this video!!! I will try these tips the next time I get to the practice ground. Thank you guys! 🙏🙏
Ya I’m the same but my short game got so bad I gave up for years , recently returned and chipped ok for for a while then a few duffs and skulls has me back to square one , it’s torture, if I was a good chipper could play to 3 or 4 h cap but miss a green and I’m fucked
Great advice. Been struggling with pitching/chipping for years. Solved my problems overnight. Light grip sets up controlled backswing and promotes body turn. Thanks Guys!
You're always going to get more views and help more people than actually give you feedback. I'm like a 28 handicap and struggle around the greens. Just recently I practiced some chipping and played one good round with solid chips and I guess I lost it the next few, anyhow... I went and implemented the techniques of this video. I was not focusing on distance but taking a 9 to 3 club path and I hit them consistent and straight. Yeah I shanked 3-4 out of 20 being a beginner and trying something new. On the first few I did a practice swing then hit the ball. On the 3rd one I did the eyes closed and hit the ball great. Straight, and flight and distance. I know every person and the feel or interpretation of instruction is different. I employed a few other thought paths that worked for me. First and foremost was keeping my lead wrist in flection. Chipping did not work otherwise for me. Second, swing path going around the body, not bag m back and forth/ up down. Lastly and don't know if correct, I had more weight on my lead foot. It started raining after those 20 balls and I came in. Can't wait to keep working on it. Ball was popping off the ground more effortlessly than ever before and using less bounce. Thanks guys, I just subscribed and look forward to more
Brilliant, you guys have just proved to me that my coach is absolutely spot on with my training. everything you have done, he did with me (apart from the eyes closed...need to try that. Thanks for your help, you make it simple to learn the finer points.
The "feeling the ground" that you taught me has made a massive difference. Working on distance control but now i've got a massive chance for a 1 putt rather than hoping for a 2 putt.
This video and explanation of this really helped me understand a few things I've been doing wrong! I'm psyched to try this in my next greenside practice session!
Such a great video guys. Nice to see a 10 handicapper struggling with chipping and then being taught how to address problems in a simple and believable way. Thank you!
This is a great video….I’m really struggling with the same chip shots around the greens which is costing me so many shots 😏 I’m gonna practice this drill 👍🏼 Awesome lads 👏🏼
Great lesson!! Golfed yesterday Michigan USA..On the 9th hole had a pitch and decelerated went 20 feet,, so shot a 46 instead of 43..Makes a difference!!
Used to have an 8 handicap, but after 3 surgeries on my hand and hitting ripe age of 71, I was too frustrated with pitching and chipping to even venture onto a golf course. I continued to practice every day, hoping that I would find something that worked. Cross handed, split handed, even left handed......................... nothing worked. Typical one good shot, one skull, and then 1 fat. Watched a 1,000 videos................. Seve, Phil, Lee, all of them to no avail. So when I saw your video heading, I was of course skeptical. I learned to relax my right hand / arm, left hand thumb and forefinger provide the control, centered ball in stance, little shaft lean and presto my short game is back. Soft lofted shots with the lob wedge and solid chips with 8 iron. One thing I notice is that if my right side is totally relaxed on pitches and chips, at the end of the backswing there is a little wrist break tug that naturally occurs if I am truly swinging the club. Wonder if this will work for my lousy putting too. Thanks guys, for the best video on this important part of the game.
Great video Guys. You should do more of this type so we can see in 'real time' how an Amateur can improve just by taking your advice and making adjustments. The difference between before and after was just 'night and day' and I imagine Gareth is a lot more confident around the greens as a result. Nice work Guys.
Superb. I'm guilty of gripping too tightly and trying to hit exactly the base of the ball, que blade strikes and club digging in duffs. I'm looking forward to trying your technique next day I'm out. I have a 5 hole lesson with the Pro in Feb and I have "homework" to keep working on since my last lesson in Nov. The result of doing my "homework" is a round inprovement from 115 to breaking 100 consistently. 2 pb rounds of 90 achieved in the last 6 months alone.
Thank you for this, been struggling with chipping recently - however after having looked at this and gone out into the back garden and got my body through on the chip, rather than just arms, it has made a huge difference - feeling a lot more confident - looking forward to my next round on Tuesday and trying it out ( unless of course I manage to hit every green in regulation, which is definite a big ask😀)
My exact problems. I chip not looking at the ball but out past it and just being aware where it is. Was always told my backswing was too long. But when shortened it lost tempo. Have tried chipping with one arm, either arm. Pracitce swings okay and then try and walk in and hit ball before I freeze. Still struggle and playing links golf get very tight lies. But will give closing the eyes a go. I think the posture, head and hand position are the best tips here. Used to be taught the old fashioned way, hands forward ball back in stance.
OK, so my take away it to close my eyes for chipping....LOL!! I would love one of these shorter chip shot videos from the rough or not from the fairway. that being said, I'll keep watching in the hope of hitting more fairways. Keep up the great work, you are really helping us beginners!
I just picked up some new wedges and have struggled with massive deceleration with them. On occasion, I was beside a bunker and hitting toward a pin at 90 degrees from the bunker and I shanked it into the bunker. :-( ... Your video reminded me to use the club rather than focus on the strike again. Can't wait to get out and have a crack at the short game again now. Thanks.
14 handicap, that double hit is *exactly* me. This is such a good video, I didn't even get to the end before I was out in the garden trying it and... better strikes, no double!
Great video, couldn't wait to start practicing it myself. Do you have a video that would explain the tightness of grip needed for each club? I think this made a huge difference.
Watched this twice between Friday and Sunday. Practiced at range this morning, then walked 9 holes this evening. SUPER HELPFUL. My head was tilted back like driver set up and hands forward like low bum and run, hands ahead of everything. Exactly my feeling! I think I'll visit the home site to see if there are more of these types of videos.
Ok guys... There's no mistake that over the years I've loved your content... Fantastic agreed. I thought the part when Andy came forward was genius too. I've never seen that before.
Top lads you two are.... you can see how much it means to this guy and what a difference!!!
Gareth's story is my story! Setup issues, swing thoughts, dejection and lack of confidence, double hits and blading it over the green. I totally get it. So glad I found this and can't wait to try it out.
Best chipping video I’ve seen….and believe me, I’ve seen a lot! Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You guys have saved my life!! Cant wait to get on the course..........on the carpet it is magic

Thanks Gareth, was great meeting you and happy to hear the scores are coming down, keep it up!🙌🏌️♂️

Fantastic video and instruction, I love how free and easy his swing looks after the changes. You guys have done it again 👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Great video y’all!
Gareth is literally me… and probably a lot of us.
As the man in the video, I can confirm they’ve changed my chipping game. Incredible blokes and great coaches
We hope this video will help you as much as it has helped Gareth🙌👌
This is me. I had a session in my back yard one night after a bottle (or so) of wine and chipped like Phil .. sadly I sobered up. Mind over matter. I now often chip one handed as the result is much better and less embarrassing than double hits and duffs.
This is the most helpful video I have seen yet! Everything changed instantly.
This actually totally improved my chipping big time!!!! You guys are the standard when it comes to simple straightforward golf instruction!!!
You could spot you both from space in those jumpers !!
Amazing video, this is exactly what I’m doing. Playing to 8 or 10 handicap with horrendous pitching and chipping. This is absolutely soul destroying. I can completely empathise with this guy. Best coaching on RUclips 🔥🔥
Thanks Dirk!👍
Excellent lesson. Helped me tremendously! I would also add that not grounding the club helped me out as well.
This video and explanation of this really helped me understand a few things I've been doing wrong! I'm psyched to try this in my next greenside practice session!
Such a great video guys. Nice to see a 10 handicapper struggling with chipping and then being taught how to address problems in a simple and believable way. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Kevin! We have all been there with short game
This is a great video….I’m really struggling with the same chip shots around the greens which is costing me so many shots 😏
I’m gonna practice this drill 👍🏼
Awesome lads 👏🏼
Très bonne leçon. Je vais essayer cela demain après-midi au golf. Merci Messieurs et j’adore vos gilets roses!
Really liked the video. The flow looks so natural. I have a tendency to punch at the ball. This video will help me to continue my follow through.
Great lesson!! Golfed yesterday Michigan USA..On the 9th hole had a pitch and decelerated went 20 feet,, so shot a 46 instead of 43..Makes a difference!!

Wow this is an eye opener. I am so tense pitching and chipping. I will try it tomorrow. Good Video !
Hi Guys
Watching y’all from Florida.
Andy taught me at the 3 hammers ..
Been in Florida for 12 years now but always tune in ..
You did a similar video once which I used to cure my chipping yips! Thanks for the great instructional video guys! 👌🏼💪🏼
The video with Rory was great. I will try some of the advice I watched this week. Thanks.
Wow! So much there! Can't wait to try this! My weakest area is chipping around the green. Almost embarrassing - well, actually, it is. Thanks, guts!
Great video Guys. You should do more of this type so we can see in 'real time' how an Amateur can improve just by taking your advice and making adjustments. The difference between before and after was just 'night and day' and I imagine Gareth is a lot more confident around the greens as a result. Nice work Guys.
so good , it was like watching myself those first few chips definitely goin with this approach next praccy
This has been my issue and now I have something to practice to. Thanks guys!
That’s first attempt and reaction was so perfect… whoahhhh
😂 not a bad response at the end either!
I cant wait to try and and also show my wife since she just started getting into golf so easy
I will definitely take this to the course. Awesome video!
Great video. There is so much truth into this lesson. Thank you.
That was awesome!! I'm definitely trying this next time I hit the course!! Thankyou for sharing the wisdom!!👍👍
The pink looks great fellas!!
REALLY helpful guys. Thank you for all you do.
“Looks like Shawn is going to cut the green.” Hilarious! Love the tip! Once again, So helpful. Thx Boys!
We were very confused!😂😂 thanks John glad you enjoyed it!
Exactly what I needed today! Thanks guys!!
that no-cut instructional sidebar at 5:50 was masterful.
I’m a 20 handicapper and I tried this today wow made such a difference to my score.
Superb. I'm guilty of gripping too tightly and trying to hit exactly the base of the ball, que blade strikes and club digging in duffs. I'm looking forward to trying your technique next day I'm out. You guys are fantastic!!!
Excellently explained and quality tips here, Thank you so much. - now I have put it into action.
Great Lesson - Can you apply the light grip to any other shot other than chipping?
Thank you for this, been struggling with chipping recently - however after having looked at this and gone out into the back garden and got my body through on the chip, rather than just arms, it has made a huge difference - feeling a lot more confident - looking forward to my next round on Tuesday and trying it out ( unless of course I manage to hit every green in regulation, which is definite a big ask😀)
This is what i needed
Great stuff as usual, thank you!!
great video guys
the elation on his face was priceless
Thank you!! 🙌
Just what i was looking for 👍
I wish I could see more animations that show what the club head is supposed to be doing at impact for iron shots and for driver shots.
OK, so my take away it to close my eyes for chipping....LOL!! I would love one of these shorter chip shot videos from the rough or not from the fairway. that being said, I'll keep watching in the hope of hitting more fairways. Keep up the great work, you are really helping us beginners!
this video was very helpful!
Great job guys
Brilliant content, chaps
Love love love I had thus same problem!!!
Day by day , I see a positive change in my swing that is because of you 💖❤😄
That’s great Debasish, happy to hear we are helping your golf🙌🏌️♂️
That was great. Can't wait to try the light grip pressure
Exactly the area of the game that I needed instruction on. I will check my setup and try these tips out. Mahalo!
Thanks.
Another great vid to really make us think before that next chip. 👍 Keep em coming
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it🏌️♂️👍
14 handicap, that double hit is *exactly* me. This is such a good video, I didn't even get to the end before I was out in the garden trying it and... better strikes, no double!
Perfect lesson.
great video. I always enjoy watching you guys.
Very well done. I may have to play my entire round with my eyes closed after this.
Added 7 shots today duffing, I have been laying off matts for a couple of months and back on grass today but this seems like ti will help massively.
Good deal guys. I am going to work on my chipping today with light grip and level shoulders and brushing the ground
Loved the hole-out.
Setup is key.
Loose grip.
Tempo.
Let gravity do most of the work.
Practice.
Total relating 😂 Thx good lesson ✊
Thanks for the video
Great video, couldn't wait to start practicing it myself. Do you have a video that would explain the tightness of grip needed for each club? I think this made a huge difference.
Great video as usual! I'm dying at the greenskeeper just driving in and pulling the flag out
good video guys. what about in longer grass around green?
Great stuff! Thanks
