Another detail I noticed is that after Saddler takes Ashley, Leon's veins stay dark instead of going back to normal. His veins are visible from that point on until the parasite is removed. It's a cool way to show that the infection is getting worse.
I just noticed a detail for the first time yesterday while watching my friend replay the game. The crows drink water when they're near puddles. We noticed it while backtracking to the village after leaving Mendez's house. I know it's insignificant, but I think it's cool that the developers actually made an animation for it.
You don't need two golden eggs for Salazar, only one. Any egg, even a white one, will do after you threw the first golden egg at him. That means you can still turn in the quest to the merchant and have your easy win. What's also fun is that Salazar's weakness to eggs is hinted at both through a merchant quest that asks you to throw an egg at Salazar's portrait in the throne room, but in that same throne room are two chickens and a golden egg placed inside a locked cube cabinet. Fun stuff
Realistically though, whether they hit or bounce off their target is a matter of luck because there's no guarantee the ax will land on the sharp side if you don't throw it like a spear.
they can also bounce off of your grenades, happened to me several times in mercenaries mode. so essentially you can parry an axe with your nades. edit: nvm he mentioned that in the vid as well
A cool detail is that when enemies are alerted to you, they will look directly at you and their head will follow you. If a Regenerador is alerted to you and you're behind them, they will turn their head nearly 180 degrees to look at you and will lock their look in place while they turn around. Really creepy detail when I first faced off with them.
Ashely kills a regenerator if you don't. That actually happened to me due to a lack of ammo. I was like: "Come on what're you doing" then like, "OH awesome"
There's a villager hiding inside of the cabinet of the small key drawer room in the first village. He'll jump out at you even after the Bingo Bell rings, but doesn't seem to come out when you re-enter the village later. Not sure if this detail was in here, but i haven't seen anyone acknowledge this yet.
And he's popped out of the Wardrobe everytime thru all my playthroughs never at night tho when re-entering the house you are correct about that, then again I kill him every time so I wouldn't know for sure lol
The Kendo engraving on Leon's gun is actually from Robert's brother Joseph who was not at Raccoon city and was actually the one who designed the Samurai Edge. Which is also the reason why Leon had a custom gun made by Joseph Kendo since Leon wanted a Samurai Edge but opted instead for a completely different platform. There's an entire lore about the Silver Ghost if anyone wants to read about it.
The trigger discipline was a nice detail. Also with the tactical reloads. You dont see that often. 1 extra round gets added to your firearm. 1 round in the chamber. He puts the magazine away for later use.
It's nice that in recent years, the action movie/game genre started to really capture how a trained professional would operate firearms in real life. I think franchises like John Wick and the new Modern Warfare games really made proper firearm representation more mainstream.
Make it 101 incredible details: The villagers can slip and fall down in the muddy floor. After the village run and shoot event, Leon comes to the windmill area, the area is covered with muddy field with water. If the villager chase after you, and they run across the muddy water ground, they actually slip and fell down. Talk about making full use of environment advantage 😎 I never know the muddy ground can actually make a difference
Ass jiggling Regenerador is something I thought I'd never see... Also surprised you didnt include the fact that you can shoot the church bell early in the village battle. But only in the second playthrough because you need a sniper.
You forgot at the castle section where you put 3 animal heads to the sculpture if you kill or stun the masked cultist who descents the platform you and Ashley are on before his cutscene triggers by blindly throwing a flash/hand grenade you actually can skip fighting all the enemies below and just get the head piece and turn back to the sculpture.
oh i love how in 11:48 they acknowledge that glitch, then proceed to include it in the game as an upgrade thats actually wholesome i still remember stumble upon that glitch by accident because im shaking in suspense with the 2 el gigante, but that glitch made another glitch in that area where i can just past through some walls because of everything is sped up for leon, even static animations
I also came across a detail that is really small but amazing imo: if you reload your handgun in mid battle, leon doesn't put the extra +1 bullet in the chamber as if to show that he doesn't have time to put that extra bullet
an additional bullet appears when reloading with the remainder of the bullets in the clip, since one remains in the barrel of the weapon. If you shoot everything and reload, it won't be there. And it has nothing to do with the battle
You can shoot the arms off the ganados and they essentially become harmless, most they can do is make leon stumble unless you then shoot their heads off allowing the parasite to harm you. I have a video captured of it which will be uploaded to WobbleJay Gaming later. The shooting of the Lake also doesn't have any effect in Chapter 1 so you can't be eaten there. If you kill the armoured El Gigante before the other one, Leon says something along the lines of 'Now time for the naked one' (can't remember the exact phrase).
I don't know if anyone already pointed this out but when pinstripe suit Leon does his "reloading pose" Ashley will look at him fondly. You can see it for a bit here in 27:42
Hardware nowadays is very high performance, so Capcom can expand the creativity make it more realistic, so I really love the Remake version, although i already played the Original version in the past
Ashley cannot be lifted by the Ganados in the Original RE4 as well as the remake whenever she has the "Knight's Armor" Costume as it is too heavy. Any Ganado that makes the attempt would either drop her or fall with her (only scripted scenes where she has to be taken or the rare situation of a fall. In the Original, that was usually on the Gondalo Lift if the the Ganado cuts the line). And when Leon catches Ashley with the suit, he holds his back while he rises, signifying the weight of the the Armor. The Armor for Ashley was literally an "Infinite Health" for Ashley as she could not be lifted and carried away, nor harmed by the Ganados or Leon through friendly fire. She could even take a direct hit from the RPG.
Yup was about to say this, its rare though, its happened once in the hedge maze when i was so used to running to the door with the suit of armor on and it played the game over screen, i was like ??what?? Lol
The only time that has happened for me was when I went through one of the double-door entrances to a new area, ones where Leon does the protracted heavy door opening animation. Ashley was far behind me in a swarm of ganados.
when ashley os too far away from you, or when you left ashley near a heavy door (in RE4 Original it's the doors that need to load before you enter it).
It's a neat subtle detail to have Remake-Leon regularly stretch his right-shoulder in visible pain, implying that the bullet he took for Ada from Anette Birkin's gun caused some lasting damage that never really healed, even six years on.
4:10 If you listen carefully, you can hear Crowbcat screaming because his points about RE4R being _"soulles"_ are now being debunked left right and center!
"Grenades can collide with axes" I found this out myself the hard way on my first playthrough. I was even low on health at the time and it landed at my feet, quickly leading to me dying because I couldn't stop laughing.
Man, that reminds me of SomecallmeJohnny when he did his 100% run of the original - he was in the opening village section, about to throw a grenade through the open door and the door slammed shut right as he threw it. That green can of death bounced right back and blew up in Leon's face. You can imagine the sheer joy people in chat felt at that.
It looked as though in the scene where Ashley covers up when you looked up her skirt, that she looks directly at the camera, as if she's looking at the player. Not sure if I'm just seeing things, but if that is what happens, its a pretty funny addition as well
Do enemies actually take fall damage, though? I know in the original it was fairly common to finish off a few by just waiting at the top of the later, poking them, then watching them splat on the ground. After 1.5 playthroughs, I don't think I've seen that happen once.

The best remake till now just as good as the original and at some points even better, a true masterpiece played original on ps2 and this is a true masterpiece
I know this is old news by now but Ashley says some different lines when Leon catches her. My favorite one is "My hero", but she also says "Nice catch" and "Skillz"
32:51 he doesnt touch his shoulder because of ennemy ecounter but because his shoulder was injured severly in resident evil 2 and it still hurts thats an amazing detail
I like how ashley just fist bump when you get a headshot it happens in the original to im not sure if its a headshot thing or when you just hit someone or killed an enemy(on original)
Another fun fact, the swords you see in Salazar's castle (not the ones for the puzzle) are based on recreations of Colada and Tizona, the swords of El Cid... a historical military figure in Spain.
I know you kinda hinted at it with the regenerator model but I can confirm that Ashley's ballistics gots them physics. Also there is a nod to the movie The Professional (Also known as Leon: The Professional) in both versions. The Gun Matilda is named after Natalie Portman's character in the film. Additionally in the remake Leon can wear the same circular frame sunglasses that Jean Reno wears in the film.
I was a little skeptical when I heard they were going to remake RE4 because the original is my favorite. But Capcom absolutely knocked it out of the park. It's truly a masterpiece in gaming.
