Thank you so much, I love it,,, I would had love to see how the perfume solidify or can you tell me if you need to placed it on the refrigerator? I do my own face cream and put it on the refri due to I dont use preservative, I am new on Essential Oils but loving every minute of it. I really appreciate this video. THANKS
Wanda Mazzulo, you could keep this in the refrigerator but it is not necessary. It will set up and turn solid at room temperature and the carriers would determine how long this blend would stay fresh.
Hi Andrea, I always love your videos, thank you! I wonder if you might have some suggestions for me. I have tried several of the solid perfumes and am about to give up! I follow the recipes exactly, weighing by the gram, and the aroma of the beeswax consistently is the overwhelming aroma I can smell, with the E.O.s fighting to come through. Is there another product that can be substituted for beeswax that doesn't have such a strong odor?
Hi Linda! It's wonderful to hear that you've been working with the solid perfume recipes. We hope you don't give up! 💜 There are a couple of other waxes that you can try using instead of Beeswax if you don't care for the aroma. Carnauba wax or candelilla wax are good options to replace beeswax (and they're vegan!). They’re different than beeswax though, so be aware of that when you’re blending. We don’t have much experience with either, so we can't advise you on the amounts. You could look up recipes to see how you might adjust the amount and experiment a little with it to get the consistency and texture you’re after. You can find carnauba wax at Mountain Rose Herbs: www.mountainroseherbs.com/catalog/ingredients/waxes Hope this helps 💜
I think this might be what I'm looking for. I'm a male that loves to wear "Oils". Love Patchouli, Cedar, Musk, Sandlewood. I'm going to give this a try. I'm not familiar with the scent/s of Juniper or Cypress? Going to my nearby Health food store to check out the sample oils. Thank you Angel from The Bay
Thank you waburden! It's so lovely to hear how you are enjoying the videos we share here! We have had some wonderful feedback from men about the woodsy aroma of this and we would love to hear back from you! Let us know if you try it!
Hi Andrea. This looks so much fun to make. If I calculate corretly, that's 3 part of carrier oil to 1 part of beeswax, right? And I notice that the essential oils are less than 1%. Usually some other non-aromaterapist youtubers, can put in up to 5% eo. Is it because of the eo you choose have strong smells already and we need not to put much? Thank you!
Hello! Yes, you are correct- we are using a 3:1 ratio of carriers oils to Beeswax in this recipe. For a softer consistency, you could use a 4:1 ratio. When it comes to the number of essential oils we used, we found that 17 drops was perfect to bring balance and harmony in the blend. A little bit really does go a long way when blending with these potent oils. It's a personal preference though, and if you would like the aroma to be more pronounced, you cold safely double or triple the drops in this blend. 💜
Beautiful recipe. May I ask a couple of questions? Can we increase the amount of essential oils more than times three (x3) of the original recipe? I made this today, and it is still not as strong as I would like it. What’s the maximum we can go on this safely? Can we reheat the perfume to make adjustments on the essential oils? Will that ruin our pre existing oils in the perfume? Thank you so much.
Hi Anth! Yes, it would be safe to multiply the amount of oils in this recipe by 3 in order to get the desired aroma. Reheating the recipe just until everything has melted and adding additional essential oils will not harm the existing oils. Essential oils can be heated for brief periods of time while you mix your blend with no damage to their therapeutic properties. The product will actually cool down really fast. Add your essential oils right after taking the melted butter off the stove (just before pouring it into your jars), and your blend will be fine. Be sure to cover the jars right away, so the essential oils don’t evaporate. Hope this helps! 💜
@@aromatherapyoils Thank you for your reply. I was actually asking if we can go more than three times the recipe; like maybe 4 or 5 times. I still find the aroma not strong enough with the times three. Thank you.
Welcome Bianca!! The Patchouli is from Aromatics. They have an amazing vintage Patchouli: www.aromatics.com/products/patchouli-vintage-essential-oil The gallon jug of Jojoba was from The Jojoba Company.
Andrea I love your videos your voice and teaching skills are so good thank you! I am wanting to make my husband a great beard balm and beard oil with a woodsy vanilla scent what would you recommend or do you have a video? I also ordered 2 of your books can't wait to get them!
Lynn, that is so great that you ordered my books! I really hope you enjoy them. Beard oils and balms are all the rage right now and what a great way to naturally condition facial hair. You could use this recipe for the purposes of conditioning someones beard. It they wanted just an oil you could mix the oils into the jojoba oil without adding the beeswax.
Weneal Towns yes you could although the aroma of coconut oil and shea will present themselves and you'll need to be mindful of the short shelf life (especially with grapeseed oil). Some the things I love about Jojoba is that it doesn’t have much scent so it doesn’t alter the aroma of the essential oils you blend into it, and there is no concern of shelf life, where all other carrier oils will have a limited shelf life.
@@aromatherapyoils Thank you so very much for your reply! I was excited to make this balm but have no jojoba on hand but have all the others I mentioned 🙂. Thanks again for making these great tutorials!
Hi Lisa Try reducing the drops by about half. 2 drops Cedarwood 3 drops Juniper Berry 3 drops Vintage Patchouli We thought you may enjoy this guide from the Aromahead Blog: blog.aromahead.com/make-essential-oil-perfume-nl
That's a great question! It's hard to say how long a scent will last, as everyone's skin chemistry is different. We love the pleasure of taking meditative moments throughout the day to re-apply the perfume!
Hi Andrea, just tried this recipe... its wonderful, though I find it little mild... can i increase the quantity of essential oils. If yes by how much. Could you suggest me some strong blends for males and some floral blends for females
Hi Garima Rastogi rastogi! If you want the essential oil aroma to be more pronounced, you can double the amount of essential oils and see how that goes. If you still prefer a stronger aroma, you can use tripe the essential oils. The number of drops is a personal preference 😁 Essential oils that are earthy, herbaceous, woody, spicy, and citrusy are popular with men. Some men enjoy Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Cypress, Ginger, Patchouli, Vetiver while others enjoy the aroma of some of the florals, particularly Lavender, Neroli and Jasmine.
Aromahead Institute Andrea Butje... thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us.... i have a couple of more queries... 1. Now that I have added essential oils can I re melt it. If yes, hope there will be no damage to essential oils. 2. How many times in a day I can apply it. 3. Can I use it as a salve also.
You can gently reheat as long as it doesn't get extremely hot and for an extended period of time, your essential oils will be okay. Yep! You can use it as a salve and you can apply it several times a day.
Hi I am looking at making my own business one day and I love your ideas ... I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind me using some of your ideas as selling as my own business products ... ?

You are welcome to use our recipes for inspiration and encourage you to make your own unique line of products to sell. This can be a very gratifying and rewarding process for you. Hi Denise! Essential oils can be heated for brief periods of time while you mix your blend with no damage to their therapeutic properties. The carriers actually cool down really fast. It’s when the oils are heated for a prolonged period - like being left in a hot car all day - that is damaging. Hope this helps 💜
***** Your welcome. :) Could you possibly make more perfume diys like musky or exotic scents? That would be uber cool. And where would one find vintage or aged patchouli oil? I only have regular patchouli but I want to try vintage
I love your Videos. thank You! for sharing. You explain everything so good and low voice tone👌👌 . I live in FL too,and I grow my own herbs: Lemongrass,Moringa, Aloe,Rosemary and different kind of Mint's to make my body lotions, face creams and soaps. I love nature's and all ways staid on the Nature's side only using preservative. Can You tell me if You know any brand You recommend to make this liquid perfume? Thank You so much!💛

We're so happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Recreating scents can be quite challenging and fun! It's definitely a skill. We'd suggest getting a list of ingredients of any product blends you'd like to try to recreate, and if they are using all essential oils, you can experiment by layering each oil 1 drop at a time until you find what works. 💖
Hey sweet lady! I love this info. Question: Where do you get your Jojoba? It is pretty expensive and available only in small quantities in the health stores near me. Do you have a suggestion?
1MadHatter I do! You can purchase jojoba in varying amounts here at Aromatics: www.aromatics.com/products/jojoba-oil You can reach out to them directly for larger quantities (gallon size): www.aromatics.com/pages/contact-us
Fazeela Laher I love that you are looking at natural ways, thanks for your question. Oils can play integral part and in the Aromatherapy scope of practice, we can use the oils to reduce stress, improve sleep, and help people stay healthier by supporting peripheral issues. Since I am not a medical professional, I can’t advise you in this situation. What we can say is that we have a blend on the Aromahead Blog with oils that are known to be very calming and soothing to the nervous system that may help to reduce stress and improve sleep. blog.aromahead.com/essential-oils-for-sleep-nl
Yes, this blend would be lovely to use in a roller bottle using Jojoba as the carrier. Great idea! We would suggest using 10-12 drops of essential oil in 1 ounce of Jojoba. You could try: 3 drops Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens) 4 drops Juniper Berry essential oil (Juniperus communis) 4 drops Vintage Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemom cablin) We'd love to hear how it goes if you try it! 💜
There are so many different combinations you could try. This is part of the fun in finding out how certain oils dance with others aromatically, Michelle A.
I have made a few linen / pillow sprays from different sites and all those sites also say to add small amounts of witch hazel / vodka / alcohol to help in mixing the essen. oils w/ the distilled water. I want to try your spray but did not see any mention of witch hazel / alcohol / vodka ~ just asking why. thanks
Great question! The Aromahead Approach is to make products without preservatives and simply make them fresh as needed (with water-based products, that would be every 2-3 weeks). Of course if you are selling water-based products you would need to use a preservative. Hope this helps to clarify! 💜
Hi I'm from mumbai India n i like your videos however I want to no if I can use a plastic beaker in the micro n instead of jajoba oil can I put almond oil n how many tbsp or oz
Hi Maria! It’s best to melt it in a double-boiler on the stove top rather than a microwave. If you prefer you can use 3 oz of almond oil in place of jojoba. Enjoy!
Andrea, with the hot melted wax off the stove, will the heat of this change the effects of the individual Essential Oils, or are we mostly just doing this for the smells? I was also wondering if this was super hard once cooled, or a little softer. thanx bunches!
***** Thank you so much for the quick reply Andrea!! So we want to make sure to heat the solids low and slow then, so its just melting, but not super hot.
You'll want to only heat the jojoba and beeswax until it is fully melted, not super hot. Adding the essential oils to the warmed mix will not effect the aroma but some of the oil may evaporate during the process. The consistency will be firm but not too hard, Debora Cadene.
Hi Andrea What are your thoughts on infusing jojoba oil using the sun. Does it matter if it gets hot or warm? Will a double boiling method work? Am using vanilla pods and a cinnamon stick?
Hi Erlinda! We suggest adding the essential oils once the Beeswax is fully melted (usually around 140F) and you've removed the double boiler from heat. 💜
Hi Beautiful Andrea!!! How would I make a Tobacco and or a Tobacco/Vanilla perfume??? I don't know which oil's to blend to get that sent!!! I love Tobacco but I'm wondering if it's just a synthetic sent or if you can make it??? Thank you in advance!!! XOXOXO
LasVegasSpa Girl, I don't have any experience with a scent that emulates the aroma of tobacco. I guess you could always try to place tobacco in some jojoba oil and allow it to set for a few weeks to see if you could pull the aroma out of the dried plant material.
Tinyt2018 I would recommend Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) or Frankincense (Boswellia carterii). Either would be lovely in place of Juniper Berry. Enjoy! 😁
Hi amr salim! Thank you for your interest in Essential Living: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home. It's available digitally on Kindle here: tiny.cc/vwhs9x
Hi Heidi! We would suggest contacting the company you purchased from for information on the shelf life or expiry dates of their products. We can share a link to Aromatics International where they talk about shelf life: www.aromatics.com/blogs/wellness/essential-oil-shelf-life-and-storage 💜
Hi Lorrain! Yes!! Sweet almond oil has a very delicate aroma and you could be used it in this solid perfume blend in place of Jojoba. Almond oil has a much shorter shelf life (1-2 years) than Jojoba.
Cypress blended in a carrier oil would be lovely to use as a perfume, if it's an aroma that you enjoy and feel connected to. 💜 You could try 10-12 drops of Cypress in 1oz of Jojoba, or any of your favorite carrier oils. It could also be nice to add other oils, such as the ones used in this Woodsy Perfume Blend.
You know how u like someone's Ora right off the Bat? Well I felt that for you and then accidently hit a button and you disappeared.then I could not find you again. But obviously I eventually did. Lol. So I immediately Subscribed! Lol
There are many wonderful companies. We like to recommend buying from companies that import directly from the distillers, that test every batch of oil with GC/MS, and that share the batch specific GC/MS reports with their customers. This ensures quality and demonstrates accountability. Here are a few we can recommend: Aromatics International - www.aromatics.com/ Essential Elements - essentialelementsstore.com/ Pompeii Organics - www.pompeiiorganics.com/ Florihana (US) www.florihana-us.com/ Florihana (Europe) - www.florihana.com/en/ Aliksir (Canada) - www.aliksir.com/
Here's a recipe called "Forest Diffuser Blend" that we think you'll enjoy. It smells just like a walk through the forest 💚 20 drops Cedarwood oil (Juniperus virginiana) 20 drops Hemlock oil (Tsuga canadensis) 20 drops Balsam Fir oil (Abies balsamea)
Alternatively, you may wish to substitute with some other vegan wax such as Candelilla or Carnauba wax and with those, again, you'll need to experiment with the ratio of the wax in order to get the texture you desire.

Thank you.
Stumbled on your youtube today, loved your video. May I ask what brand of Patchouli and Jojoba oil did you use...thanks
Welcome Bianca!!
The Patchouli is from Aromatics. They have an amazing vintage Patchouli: www.aromatics.com/products/patchouli-vintage-essential-oil
The gallon jug of Jojoba was from The Jojoba Company.
@@aromatherapyoils Thank You

Thank you. Loved it.
Hello Andrea,
Thank you for this great tutorial. I would like to know if I could swap coconut oil, shea butter and or grapeseed oil for the jojoba?
@@NellieT9230 I love your excitement and would enjoy hearing back on how it goes!
I like you and your Parfums making idea💖💖💖💘

Thank you, Elena! It's truly our pleasure to share 💜
i love your detailed instructions and ... i love your rings:) very beautiful jewelry.
Thanks, that so sweet or you to say!
Thanks for the very informative video. Had a small question - how much hours this fragrance lasts for
That's a great question! It's hard to say how long a scent will last, as everyone's skin chemistry is different. We love the pleasure of taking meditative moments throughout the day to re-apply the perfume!
Scooby Dooby Dooby, that was a great video and I wish you showed us the final product after the wax cured with the smooth top as you mentioned.
Great suggestion!
The number of drops is a personal preference 😁
Essential oils that are earthy, herbaceous, woody, spicy, and citrusy are popular with men.
Aromahead Institute thanks a ton... this is a great info
My pleasure!
I love Argan oil can I use that as a carrier
Yep, you could do that if you prefer Deanna!
Thank you miss

Yes I was planning on using your base ideas but my own blends ...
I thought we were supposed to let the base cool quite a bit before adding EO so as not to denature the proteins in the EO with heat?
Hi Denise! Essential oils can be heated for brief periods of time while you mix your blend with no damage to their therapeutic properties. The carriers actually cool down really fast. It’s when the oils are heated for a prolonged period - like being left in a hot car all day - that is damaging.
Hope this helps 💜
These are awesome please make more
***** Your welcome. :) Could you possibly make more perfume diys like musky or exotic scents? That would be uber cool. And where would one find vintage or aged patchouli oil? I only have regular patchouli but I want to try vintage
Thanks, Nicole! I will definitely be making some more!

I live in FL too,and I grow my own herbs: Lemongrass,Moringa, Aloe,Rosemary and different kind of Mint's to make my body lotions, face creams and soaps. You mentioned that you have a refrigerator for your oils, is that the best way to store them
Hi Lorrain! Storing essential oils in a cool dark place (or a refrigerator) helps extend shelf life - citrus especially!
Hi Andrea. Other than these 3 essential oils, what are other blends that can be used and how many drops? Thank you for all the great information. :-)

I really really enjoyed your video.
Looking for a way to dupe the scent of amber blends…. The name brand made in Indianapolis.
You can purchase jojoba in varying amounts here at Aromatics: www.aromatics.com/products/jojoba-oil
You can reach out to them directly for larger quantities (gallon size): www.aromatics.com/pages/contact-us

As,always good video
Do you have a recipe for a,client who has bipolar n ADD+p
Fazeela Laher I love that you are looking at natural ways, thanks for your question. Oils can play integral part and in the Aromatherapy scope of practice, we can use the oils to reduce stress, improve sleep, and help people stay healthier by supporting peripheral issues. Since I am not a medical professional, I can’t advise you in this situation.
What we can say is that we have a blend on the Aromahead Blog with oils that are known to be very calming and soothing to the nervous system that may help to reduce stress and improve sleep.

Thank you for up-loading, where did you get the Jojoba oil if is not too much to ask?
Don you can purchase Jojoba here: www.aromatics.com/products/jojoba-oil
Hello and thank you for the video. Just wondering if you could mix with jojoba oil in roller and if so what the ration might be? With thanks
Yes, this blend would be lovely to use in a roller bottle using Jojoba as the carrier. Great idea! We would suggest using 10-12 drops of essential oil in 1 ounce of Jojoba. You could try:
3 drops Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens)
4 drops Juniper Berry essential oil (Juniperus communis)
4 drops Vintage Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemom cablin)
We'd love to hear how it goes if you try it! 💜
ohhhhhh so good thank you for evry thing plese Andrea yo can make choclate scented perfume 😇😺🍨🍁🍀🌼🌞
I love your videos...Thank you. What other essential oils would you use together?
Can i use geranium oil and cypress
Jojo, yep! It's fun to try different combinations. You can certainly use oils that resonate with you!
Hi Andrea
What are your thoughts on infusing jojoba oil using the sun. Does it matter if it gets hot or warm? Will a double boiling method work? Am using vanilla pods and a cinnamon stick?
Thank you for the advice. Can you advise how i can infuse vanilla in the jojoba or any other oil and for how long
You can learn about infusing jojoba in this video, Mariyah L:ruclips.net/video/Ij2jPA4Z4Ts/видео.html
at what temperature do you add the essential oils?
How do i purchase your book
Glory Ekene Iwunor my book, "Essential Living: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home" is available for purchase here: tiny.cc/vwhs9x
wouldn't the scent of the beeswax interfere with whatever scent you're trying to create using the oils?
I don't personally find it interferes, in fact I find it adds a wonderful warmth to the aroma.
I was wondering how long does the perfume last throughout the day?
You would need to reapply it throughout the day otherwise the scent slowly goes away.
Where did you get your vintage patchouli? That sounds lovely! ;)
+Andrea Butje Awe bummer! Thank you! I asked them to send me an email when they restock! I must have it! ;)
This one came from Aromatics.com
hi andrea i dont have juniper berry yet what can you recommend to substitute please and thank you.

How can I tell the shelf life of my oils? I've never seen this information on a bottle.
Hi Heidi! We would suggest contacting the company you purchased from for information on the shelf life or expiry dates of their products.
We can share a link to Aromatics International where they talk about shelf life: www.aromatics.com/blogs/wellness/essential-oil-shelf-life-and-storage 💜
Ran out of jojoba oil do you think i can use sweet almond oil
Hi Lorrain! Yes!! Sweet almond oil has a very delicate aroma and you could be used it in this solid perfume blend in place of Jojoba. Almond oil has a much shorter shelf life (1-2 years) than Jojoba.
Can we use cypress as a perfume by wearing it on our wrists or neck? Thank you
Cypress blended in a carrier oil would be lovely to use as a perfume, if it's an aroma that you enjoy and feel connected to. 💜
You could try 10-12 drops of Cypress in 1oz of Jojoba, or any of your favorite carrier oils. It could also be nice to add other oils, such as the ones used in this Woodsy Perfume Blend.
@@aromatherapyoils Thank you,so I can’t wear it alone (I mean without a carrier oil).

what company do you recommend to purchase the essential oils
There are many wonderful companies. We like to recommend buying from companies that import directly from the distillers, that test every batch of oil with GC/MS, and that share the batch specific GC/MS reports with their customers. This ensures quality and demonstrates accountability. Here are a few we can recommend:

Pompeii Organics - www.pompeiiorganics.com/

Hello. Which oils would you use to make up a Forest like smell?
Here's a recipe called "Forest Diffuser Blend" that we think you'll enjoy. It smells just like a walk through the forest 💚
20 drops Cedarwood oil (Juniperus virginiana)
20 drops Hemlock oil (Tsuga canadensis)
20 drops Balsam Fir oil (Abies balsamea)
what can I substitute for beeswax?
Alternatively, you may wish to substitute with some other vegan wax such as Candelilla or Carnauba wax and with those, again, you'll need to experiment with the ratio of the wax in order to get the texture you desire.
