While I don't generally try to time the market... if the market goes on a mega sale....I do take advantage of it.
Hey what about technology obsolescence? I'm often an early adopter, but I'm trying to think about risk of huge basics in battery power density. (I can't afford to throw away my EV...) Thoughts?
Tesla's stock is stuck in a debilitating downtrend and looks just attractive for a long-term investment once the short-term volatility and smoke settle. Right now i'd just like to appreciate short-term opportunities that could fetch $500,000 or less..

I agree with you mate, I have found it takes someone who is very familiar with the market to make such good picks. so i reached out to one that appeared on CNBC news in 2020.

She goes by ‘Jill Marie Carroll’ I suggest you look her up. To be honest, I almost didn't buy the idea of letting someone handle growing my finance, but so glad I did.

Money is not meant to control people, rather it is meant to be put to work producing more money for you. You cannot build wealth without putting money in its rightful place.
People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

There are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Jennifer Leigh Hickman” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look her up.

As I said before, computer on wheels (TSLA) is “higher tech” than computer on your laps (MSFT) and computer on your palms (AAPL). TSLA will stand tall in EV, AI, robotics/robotaxi, energy storage and more. TLSA WILL BE BIGGER THAN MSFT OR AAPL WITHIN 5 TO 7 YEARS!!
I think you are right. But we will have to see. You can also say that computer on wheels is simply much harder but might be aprox evenly valuable revenue wise if customers on next few years don’t want to pay a lot for it as some models assume they will…

Not really. It's a gray area of semantics. Tesla did cancel the greenfield "unboxed" architecture and is adapting brownfeild architectures to "unboxed". Switching to a new architecture would take too long and FSD is imminent.

Their report was technically correct--the affordable model using the full unboxed method has, it seems, been scuttled in favor of building them using more traditional methods with lower cost reductions to get to market sooner with lower capex. They clearly didn't have the full story, probably just leaked emails saying it was dead--possibly in the form of layoff emails to the employees working on it that lost their jobs.

Dropped $3000 on Friday (at $149) and was planning to do another $6000 after earnings but somewhat hesitant if it sticks with a 15% or more daily gain haha. Oh well, technically hit my share goal awhile ago so it's all gravy from here I guess.

When the price of a product or service goes down the number of purchases/consumers goes up. So when the price of travel goes down drastically, people will travel tremendously more often. And most of all that extra travel will happen during the hours of the day when people are most active and willingly. Many will still want to own their own car as well.

The economics would be phenomenal and corporate buying would potentially smooth out the quarterly volatility in deliveries, etc. The Tony Seba talks about EV fleet suitability makes it seem blindlingly obvious to me anyway.

This a play on words. It was inevitable that the Model 3 and Y would use the new technologies tested on Cybertruck and finalized on the robo taxi. This does not mean new models just upgraded lower priced 3 and Y's.

I had to laugh at Top Gear’s review of Model 3 Performance . The only criticism at the end seemed to be that it did not make fake performance ICE car noises like the Ioniq 5N. Maybe Henry Ford should have had someone with two coconut shells making horse trotting noises in the passenger seat of the Model T. See Monty Pythons and the Holy Grail for full effect.😂 Tesla should bring provide a button with Mary Barra screaming noises after Tesla earnings. Plaaaaaaaaaahns!

The problem with Tesla is that they have a 100% commitment to EVs with most of the company. The electrical grid and battery technology is 15 years from being ready for EV cars. They also need to listen to their customers and move to modular batteries which can be partially replaced affordable. They can’t ignore EV resale value as people rely on this when trading their cars. With the current monolithic batteries the insurance rates will continue to be astronomical as replacing the whole battery pack is thousands of dollars.

Wrapped for advertising and replaced in 5 minutes if cracked, shredded and sent back to the factory for recycling into a new panel, or whatever.
Safe for those around it, minimum time off the road.

I don't understand how they supposed to build different vehicles on the current lines. Aren't those tailored to the design of current models?
Here's a fine point but it adds to your framework. A good autonomous "driver" includes avoidance maneuvers too. You mentioned 'psychopaths out there', but I could totally see "high performance" autonomous driver software that's better at "cat and mouse" than even some kind of bad actor.
Imagine a police chase that doesn't risk the police officer. How badly do you want the bad guy stopped? What about empty autonomous vehicles that just happen to be nearby? (Of course it's way too scary for civilian applications, but...
But the original impetus for self driving was a DARPA project.)

If a criminal *is* driving an EV, a call to the manufacturer with the details will result in a staged shutdown of the vehicle, which will stop with doors locked, surrounded by police (in Cybertrucks 😉)
They may even have the ability to slow the car themselves, with a "proper use" framework to prevent abuse.
That alone should reduce crime, damage and deaths.

I'd guess this has been in the cards for a while. You have a refresh variant (3+Y) with new bells and whistles. Make a new 'Model' with smaller skateboard, less of the bells and whistles, and slightly different body panels, but still sharing 50+% of the parts
