    Munster has infinite patience! He answers questions from these TV figures like he would from kindergarteners. As a car company old timer I had to completely change my thinking based on what Tesla has achieved. I used to be a huge Musk critic and skeptic but now I have had to completely reset my thinking about how cars could/should be manufactured. But unfortunately most of the world has no clue about how Musk thinks.

    I was involved in road sign designs. Every state every country is different and auto drive can't work everywhere, so, Houston, we have a fundamental problem.

    • @mandelm2001

      Except that it is AI and continues to learn. Signs are way different in China and Africa but it will work anywhere.

    • @simons780
      @simons780 29 дней назад +2

      That's not quite true though is it? There's the Vienna convention on Road Signs and Signals; accordingly Stop signs globally look the same. So do a large number of other signs.
      That's about the least difficult thing to teach to an AI system if even required.

      Tesla AI learns like a human. If you arrive to a new country, you can sort of get by until you learn all the local signs and customs. This wont be much of a hurdle for FSD but it might be a hurdle for nations to fully understand the technology. In the end, the nations that reject this technology will fall behind in their GDP and the nations that accept will progress.

    I think we need some disclosure here, do any of these “analysts “ currently hold a position in tesla? Why do they blindly accept Elon at his word given his history?

  • @mandelm2001
    @mandelm2001 29 дней назад +2

    FSD and robotaxi are two different things.
    All current cars can become robotaxis. That’s six million so far.
    The new robotaxi will be a dedicated vehicle designed for Uber-like rideshare. It will have no pedals or steering wheel.
    It will be built on a next generation platform that can support multiple form factors such as robotaxi, regular small car, small SUV, small van and so on.
    FSD is the software, which is advancing rapidly. It is no longer beta and is now on two million cars for a free trial. They’ve lowered the cost to $99/mo. Elon just said on the earnings call that they are opening FSD to the rest of the world, including China.

  • @Mortyh25
    @Mortyh25 29 дней назад +2

    FSD is level 2 and already a viable product for sale that prevents accidents. It needs to improve 100x to be level 5 but the models, compute and data are in place to get there within months.

    • @Mortyh25
      @Mortyh25 28 дней назад

      There was a death in 2018 where driver was watching tv instead of monitoring the car on the highway. The tech is now doing over 10 million miles per day without crashing. Compare to the human crash rate. This matters!

    • @mandelm2001
      @mandelm2001 27 дней назад

      @@colddogs - actually there have been none. Those crashes you’ve read about involved Autopilot, which is a different product. And those crashes were caused by inattentiveness not the car or software. Look each case up and all except for the last one were found by the courts to be driver error. In the last case the Tesla driver was apparently playing a video game on his phone but Tesla settled anyway.

    All Tesla models looks the same, out-dated, even with refresh, except cybertruck. With cheaper model, there maybe less people will buy the more expensive model? Don't understand this strategy. My friends looking for EV recently no longer consider Tesla because it is going cheap, no longer a luxury brand to them. My friends are considering e-Tron, ID.4, i4 and Rivian. Love my Q4.

  • @charlesmoss8119
    @charlesmoss8119 29 дней назад +1

    Tesla make big bold predictions - that you don’t see for years - to get a new model to market has certain key timeframes associated not least testing in multiple environments - so you would have to have working vehicles already prowling the streets so you could go through a testing cycle - so a cheap version of current vehicles yes - but all new model by 2025?? 😂

    It's a lot easier to promise than actually deliver. Nobody is close to solving the problems of a self-driving car.
    Tesla is getting hammered by BYD in China; their cars now look dated and the ridiculous Cybertruck is not helping.

    Why does he claim that robotaxis would be 30% cheaper to build than conventional cars?
    Will those robotaxis even exist? Will there be any demand? Would you like to use your car as a robotaxi driving around all day with people you don't know? Would you enjoy removing their cigarettes and chewing gums every morning?
    I think all car manufacturers care about efficiency and cost in manufacturing, it's not unique to Tesla.
    Tesla is heading downwards. The other carmaker have caught up on electric car technology and offer much better service and build quality.
