  • YAY! We finally got in our new speakers and had a chance to cook up the Martin Logan XT B100 review! These things are absolutely amazing and we don't say this lightly. 4 of us were there when conducting the review and we all had the same opinion. This can be rare due to the subjective make-up of speakers and Hi-Fi but in this case, we couldn't help ourselves. They are that good!

    The depth and body that these speakers create is amazing. As an example, listen to 40 seconds of "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck on the XT B100s. The accuracy of the instruments and the presence of a soundstage is incredibly REAL. One of the things that we expect out of any higher-end speaker is for it to WOW us with something. To us, this is the entry mark of a great speaker. These XTB100 do this and more.
    They feature:
    Gen2 Folded Motion® XT Tweeter (geez this thing sounds good)
    90° x 45° tweeter dispersion (H X V) to help control resonances and room reflections
    Nomex®-Reinforced Kevlar® 6.5" woofer
    Rear ported with 5-way binding posts
    93 dB sensitive/4 ohms
    20.5 pounds

    Thank you. I was entertained. Ive been dreaming of a pair of bt100s and a matching c100 in a 3.1 setup. Gonna save for a while.

      Hi,i dont know what you mean,why not 5.1.which amp do you use set up 3.1

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  Год назад +2

      @@LamNguyen-qt9wi You use a standard surround sound receiver just like a 5.1 or greater set-up. Some people (myself included) don't have a room that lends itself to rear speakers. In this case, you go with a left, center, right and 1 or 2 subwoofers for rocking sound!

      @@airetheaterdesigns really appreciate you!but look like receiver is not really good for music.i have b100 and c100 but dont want set up 5.1 in my room.90% for musics and 10% for movies.could you recommend power of receiver for my system?

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  Год назад +1

      @@LamNguyen-qt9wi The power isn't quite as important as some of the other refinements (ex: DtoAs, capacitor size, transformer, etc.). If you want three speakers to play, you will be using a surround sound receiver (or separates). How big is the room and what's your budget? There are receivers that will power these from $399-$4000.

    I am planning on purchasing the ML F100 and wondering if the B100 would be good for the rears?

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  Год назад +6

      They would be fantastic. NOTE: There are two schools of thought on rear speakers. Some people tout dipole/bipole designs for more diffuse, enveloping sound and others use direct-firing like the B100s. If you are using the system for music and movies and if you are considering Atmos with additional height channels, I think the B100s would be great!

    How do these compare with the f200 towers? I know they will lack low end, but theoretically if I were to get a sub, would they be practically the same? Thanks for your help!

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  Год назад +3

      Here's an answer for the best sound and then an answer that might be best for your pocketbook.
      1 - Big speakers almost always sound better than small ones. They provide a presence and fullness than small speakers (even with a subwoofer) can't match. Best sound = F200s AND add subwoofers.
      2 - We don't all have unlimited dollars or the need to spend our money on the absolute best solution. I think the B100s with 1-2 subwoofers would sound fantastic and your subs will probably hit levels of bass that the speakers can't.
      Please consider buying the speakers through the links below if you aren't in the So Cal area. THANKS!

    How you think they compare to Goldenears BRX?! Similarly designed

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  Год назад +6

      I haven't heard them so I couldn't say. I've heard Goldenear's other models a number of times and I would say that they PROBABLY have highs closer to the characteristic of the old XT series, based on the design and size of the tweeter. A little less edge than the new MLs.
      Not to say these are better than the Goldenear as I haven't heard them BUT I would definitely audition the ML if you're looking at bookshelf speakers as they are special.

    Hi, I am considering the ML XTB100 with the ML Dynamo 400 or 600 powered by the Marantz NR1200 2.1 [Thoughts on the power source?]

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's plenty of power if you're not trying to get them to ridiculously loud volume levels. In one of our tests, we demoed them with a Def Tech WAMP. It claims 150 watts per channel but has much less current than the NR1200. You'll be fine.
      You may want to consider a larger subwoofer if you really want to ROCK. If you can't go larger due to the room or budget, try placing it in a corner vs against a flat wall.
      Please consider getting the speakers through our affiliate links in the description if you find this helpful. It helps us purchase more gear for demo...thanks!

      @@airetheaterdesigns I was reading and more worried about the Ohm of the speakers (B100’s) and the Marantz NR 1200
      I don’t plan to blow the roof off, I prefer fuller, deeper sound when at low / mid volume. Plus my neighbors would hate me.
      I don’t understand Ohm for speaker and receiver

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  6 месяцев назад +1

      There are two things to look at when trying to match up amplification (and in many cases like the B100s...you don't have to worry about too much). These are the resistance (ohms) and the sensitivity. 4 ohm speakers are harder to drive than 8 ohm speakers. However, the NR1200 is 4 ohm stable. The B100s are very sensitive (93 dB) meaning you don't need much wattage to drive them. The Marantz is a WAY better piece sonically than the WAMP that we used in one of our testing areas. You'll be fine and they will rock@@beatmixer0097

      @@airetheaterdesigns Just subscribed, appreciate the info. I’m starting over again, spent 10 years with Bose and then 10 with Sony, enjoying all types of AV options and getting back into it. Went from a ton of AV options to getting rid of it all except my OLED. Literally using my Dad’s wave radio AUX IN for the audio as I tried the AppleTV and HomePod option - switching was too much of a pain but thinking it’s more an ARC issue and not Apple. Anyhow, been considering soundbars, in-wall speakers and now going with 2 channel with the ML and Marantz. Starting small and see where it takes me but I love music (and HT) but esthetics are just as important to me and those ML speakers and stands just look sexy.
      Getting the Marantz used today and in very good condition for $200. My listening area isn’t big and a box essentially (800 sq ft condo in a highrise) That sub should more than suffice.
      Thanks again!
      I’m working on starting a photography channel about gear but using my access to Olympic and world tour events as my testing ground.
