Rachel’s cooking reminds me of my mother’s cooking during my grade school years in the late 40s and early 50s. The only difference was my mother didn’t have a mixer/blender, she used a molcajete with a stone pistle and she cooked the beef in small batches so it wouldn’t steam. Rachel’s cooking reminds me so much of home......with fresh tortillas directly off the griddle, O what remembrances of the past!
those were the days. Now women are tricked into thinking they will find more happiness in the workplace than the home. I don't mean to be old fashioned. Somebody needs to be home to cook, otherwise families end up eating junk because parents are simply too exhausted.
Aww, that's exactly the way my mom did it too, I have my molcajete that I use with almost all of my Mexican food dishes...the sound of the molcajete brings back sweet memories of the delicious dishes my mom prepared (still does) for us growing up. My teenage grandson came over for tea the other night. Ok, I had to adjust it all a bit because I can't buy the tomatillo and green peppers but they were an instant hit. He has even requested them for the next time he invites himself over for tea, which won't be too long as he loves these sirloin fajitas. Something new for us and we're loving it.

Back when we lived in Texas, as a young girl working at the old Motorola in Austin, I spent a lot of time with my friends at their homes in Central and East Austin. Being a KentuckyGirl, I watched the amazing cooking and later, they let me join in. I learned so much and we had so much fun. Years later, on the Border, I found more lovely friends that graciously showed me West Texas style cooking, and now I still cook many of those dishes here in Canada. We just bought a new griddle so this is now my next new adventure with beloved fajitas: on the griddle! Love love love this channel and you are a really terrific lady, cook and teacher!

Back when we lived in Texas, as a young girl working at the old Motorola in Austin, I spent a lot of time with my friends at their homes in Central and East Austin. Being a KentuckyGirl, I watched the amazing cooking and later, they let me join in. I learned so much and we had so much fun. Years later, on the Border, I found more lovely friends that graciously showed me West Texas style cooking, and now I still cook many of those dishes here in Canada. We just bought a new griddle so this is now my next new adventure with beloved fajitas: on the griddle! Love love love this channel and you are a really terrific lady, cook and teacher!

I learned some thing about cooking all these years I’ve never done such as cooking my meat on high so that you get less grease and waiting the last few minutes to put the salt on so that it doesn’t cause more grease or liquid. You would’ve thought someone cooking for 40+ years almost 50 would’ve known that. I can’t wait to try this experiment myself❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I was highly disappointed when we got to the end of your video and I’m looking for your notes and there’s no guacamole recipe because as you were putting your tacos together and everything looks so good that you had made, and your heaping the guacamole on, I’m thinking, that’s the BEST PART❣️❣️Yes, to my surprise, there was NO recipe.
