    Having owned this bike now 5 months I can say that your review is spot on. It is incredible on a tight canyon road. Turns in like no other bike I've owned. Power delivery is beautifully progressive. A Brentune fills in the 4k to 6k midrange nicely and should be considered. But even stock, at anything over 6k it really sings. Light, nimble, smooth on/off throttle, decent range (160mi), and good Brembos. A lot of RR parts fit the bike. Could not be happier.

    Looking at all the info and tests I've seen I think the Beemer will be the quickest steering and most nimble of all the super nakeds. It's also the lightest in class and if you can afford the M sport model with the carbon wheels it's only 4 kg's heavier than the new MT09 which is incredible. I dismissed it when I first saw this bike. I didn't like the headlight and certain other features but it is now growing on me. In the real world on real roads as an only bike it could well be the best option of the supernakeds.

      I just picked up my 2021 s1000r sport yesterday. I had been riding a 2019 CB1000R for 20 months and then key differences I have found after a 70 mile trip home are - this is a lighter bike overall, the geometry of the steering provides confidence when Turning in and is very reassuring. Due to the 1450mm wheel base (1440 on the CB) it is very stable at motorway speeds. Excellent turn in ability as you are confident maintaining speed through the turn/ roundabout. The sitting position (I am 6ft 1 inch tall long body 31 inside leg measurement) is very comfortable, and although it is a naked bike wide blast is no issue, I am leaning forward more than I was on the CB1000R but this does not present any issues on the wrist as I have been very comfortable all of the time . rear sets for me are very good no cramps /leg ache/ hip ache over 70+ mile journey mixture motorway (a lot of filtering) and 'A' roads and in town. Up shifter best used when you have a small amount of acceleration, blipper use when off the throttle but both are very good. Cruise control is a useful asset in average speed camera zones (which are increasing) heated grips (3 levels) work very well. I was able to easily link up my Apple XR phone and my headsets SRL (NEOTEC 2) & SENA SF2 INTERCOM (Bell Race Star). Even though I am running the engine in I know that there is a lot of power there more than on the CB1000R and I have only really used the Rain and Road mode with the opportunity to use Dynamic and after the 1st service Dynamic Pro will be an option . Self cancelling indicators work well and the S22 BATTLAX TYRES give a lot of confidence off the bat. Overall as I had hoped this is a great bike one which I am confident will keep me interested and pleasantly amused for many years to come.

    • @carllewis1691
      @carllewis1691 3 года назад +1

      I forgot to mention for an inline 4 the engine breaking is a lot more noticeable than the CB1000R in both RAIN and ROAD mode on releasing the throttle it felt very similar to the Ninja 650 parallel twin I have had which for me is good as I enjoy the retardation effect from engine breaking which allows you to control your speed around corners and also when coming to a halt very well without using the brakes.

    Replaced my 2016 model a few weeks ago and it's as if BMW made everything smoother and more refined. The handling of the new bike is sublime and it clearly has more mid range power. Dyno charts suggest that BMW are very conservative with their power claims so there isn't really a gap between the S1000R and all of its competitors except the Streetfighter and the MV Agusta. In any event they all have more power than you can use on the roads in Australia.

    When the first generation of this bike was released all the publications were claiming that it was too powerful and too focused and a bit of an animal! Which it was, I’m glad that BMW have taken the lightweight route as opposed to chasing 200bhp headline figures that not a lot of folk can use, a bit like the first Fireblade…….

      @@rhyseee7721 the chassis of both bikes feels equivalent to each other. Both very very good (much better than the Speed Triple RS). The suspension+brakes on the Tuono felt slightly better (less dive on the brakes on the Tuono too), although the BMW is totally spot on for fast road riding. However the quickshifter is night and day better on the BMW. The throttle and fuelling on the BMW is 10x better. The Tuono was hunting all the time on a constant throttle, which I found really annoying to ride in traffic with. The low speed manners of the BMW are much better. It's happier and smoother at low rpms and there's more steering lock to play with. The engine in the BMW is very low in inertia and revs up much faster. The Tuono is more characterful with it's V4 growl. Another reason I fancy having the BMW is I've already got a characterful angry twin, and the BMW will complement that bike better. Both bikes look great to me asthetically, but I think the S1000R suits me more right now.
