      since the beginning never liked the concept of working under somebody, somebody controlling my freedom, controlling my creative aspects....but started doing it anyway to earn money, to support my dream, to live independently! .. meanwhile what happened it started sucking 14-15 hours of my life even my weekends, couldn't able to focus on my dreams either saving.
      Then I quit anyway and started to build a platform through freelancing but again it's not great success but at least I got clarity what and how to do it.. so again going back to square one. But this time I know for how long and how to handle burn out and control my mind..so that I've can save up required a/c balance... But this phase I'm facing extreme struggle at financial don't and anxiety... But I will...

      Debt and going through some healing is what's keeping me from quitting. Everything you say resonates with me. Life situations + the 9-5 have helped me loose my genius. haha. Currently trying to create it again :) I'm aware I'm putting my dreams aside, I also know this 9-5 has an expiration date. Working on what that plan looks like.

    Two years ago, I walked off a job I’d been doing for 34 years. (A collections supervisor) 34 years. I was 7 years from retirement. I always knew it didn’t feel right. It wasn’t me.... but I became attached to the money (Starbucks, amazon prime, etc) and security (insurance) And I was absolutely miserable. I decided 2 years ago to walk away. Sold my BMW. Downsized my home to a little minimalist condo.... gave up some bad consumerism habits.... and I’ve never been happier. I live incredibly frugal, and I’ve never been more at peace. I wish I hadn’t waited until I was 53 to make that.
    Amen to this video and I hope someone like me, a lot younger, really really listens to this alternative option you are suggesting. We are not meant to live that rat race.

    Suffering everyday at my 9-5 and I've been working for 2 years. Watched a video called "Why you shouldn't be afraid of death" and someone commented "I'm not afraid of death, I'm afraid of suffering". And that hit me hard, because it's so true. Some people can't never escape from this slavery and this is really sad. Kinda pisses me off (Some days you ask yourself at work - I just should have stayed dead). Because you have so much time at work, then you keep having all kinds of thoughts about questioning life etc... Can't understand how some people can be so happy at 9-5. Bunch of BOTs who have accepted this as their fate for the rest of their lives, but then again I'm BOT myself :) Government should pay a monthly check to everyone, because soon the robots will take over our jobs anyway. Atleast some jobs, not all in our lifetime, but that doesn't matter, because the government ain't gonna help us. They don't care about us :D Anyways, hope I'll never reborn again to experience this kind of suffering lol. Peace!

      I feel angry too. It's completely soul sucking and that's that I have a good job but I hate being stuck there every single day. My boss never lets us leave early, only gives us 1 week paid vacation and 1 week sick... I JUST WANT OUT! I'm so tired of the authority, the control they have over us, over our schedules, our lives. I'm surprised Andrew Yang didn't sky rocket to presidency with his universal basic income proposal. It was the BEST idea for society. If all taxpayers received $1000 a month, do you know how much healthier we would be mentally, physically? I have no doubt that we would be immensely healthier. I truly feel crime rates would go down, hospitalizations, mental health, stress because it would give us some control back in our lives. It is disgusting that 80% of the population is forced to work 8+ hours a day and then add in commute, in unsatisfying jobs. Horrible way to live. Something has got to change.

You can't even take a nap when you're tired, you basically doing time when you at work. For me, I just have to sell my car and start saving and investing the money for +- 2 years. I have other things that I am working on besides my job so not having a 9 to 5 (7:30 to 4 in my case) will give me time to go full time on what I really want to do.

    If you are not a minimalist it would be impossible to do that as in quit your job. Minimalism gives you some freedom. Live a simple life. Don't brag to people you don't like at all. Have the confidence to just be yourself. Don't be afraid what other people say about you like: what you wear, how you look and how beautiful your house is and so on what matters is you are happy and you are not a slave to anyone not even to your partner like a girlfriend, boyfriend or even husband or wife. If you have to be someone you are not just to be with that person it is best to end the relationship, live alone and just be who you really are.

      @@s.s.tillmanesq.305 Hello! No problem, yes, I worked for a massive outsourcing company as a sales support technician for 16 years. After saving a chunk of money for a few years, I left in 2014 and started volunteering for a local TV station helping to archive data. I just needed a break from Corporate America. Anyway, one of the folks I liaised with at the TV station saw that I had technical expertise they were looking for, and they hired me to help them set up their client relationship software. I continue to manage that in the cloud for them part time today. I downsized my living situation, sold my home and now share rent with a roommate. Walking away from the big paycheck and all the trappings of the 'American Dream'... owning a home, having a new car, blah blah, was my first step towards freedom, although it was scary at times. I just had to prioritize what mattered most to me, and downsized everything to make a smaller paycheck work for me. I have learned I can live on 1/4 what I made before and be happier without all the stress of sales quotas and endless meetings and all the B.S. of corporate life. I've also learned I don't need all the stuff society made me believe for so long was important to be happy. I will tell you, it took me over 7 years to get the courage to leave, they don't call them golden handcuffs for nothing! 🤣 Two really good books that gave me strength and inspiration to take the leap: "Escape from Corporate America" and "Your Money or Your Life". Check them out, I hope they can help you as much as they did me. ~Cheers

    The plan is to quit after my loan has been paid and I saved a couple months of paychecks, loan should be paid by June 2022 and I’m so excited to leave my 8-5 job. I am 22 and I really don’t want to live my life in a cubicle doing things I hate with coworkers who I only speak to about their day or weekend.

    Hi Conni. Amazing video and very timely as I have called time on this way of life after too many years I care to remember. I am excited about the future even though I don't know what that might be.. I have joined a digital marketing community and find that mindset shift is the key to the whole deal. If you change your mindset everything else will fall into place. Always love you videos Coni and keep doing what you are doing. Have you abandoned the Co.Create group now as I was a member earlier in the year?

    Great video, speaks to me. After 20 yrs of working in healthcare I retired to go find my passion again. I actually loved my work in healthcare when I was younger, it provided all I needed but as time went on something shifted as the fun slowly died. Thats when I realized it was time, that I outgrew that space of contributing to society. Now I do real estate. I do my own drywall patch, fix my own broken glass, change my own locks, put my own faucets in and its rewarding. The money is not the drive, I do think of the money but I'm learning and accepting that as long as God provides for me each month to meet my expenses I'm far richer because I had a month of experiences and freedom that others pay a small sum to enjoy for just 7 days "and call it vacation".

    I worked for 1 year, then I quit and began consulting. I was young and naïve and failed - went broke. Luckily I was still living with my parents at the time and my dad told me it's time I get a job. Now it's been almost 20 years that I've been working and I've hated almost every day of it. Finally I'm working on a plan to get out, but it's not easy after you get married and have children.
    It's much easier to do things today, because there is so much information online. Start when you're young and don't allow yourself to get trapped by the "comfort" of a pay check.
    Conni you've perfectly described how horrible it is to work a 9 to 5. I get paid a lot of money, I'm debt free and work in a creative job. You'd think that I'd be happy, because I only need 4 or 5 pay checks to cover my entire year's worth of expenses, but I'm still miserable, because I'm not doing what I want to do. I tend to procrastinate a lot, because I have to force myself to get work done, which can be very painful. This is not the way to live life.

    I see it the same way as you and appreciate you motivating people to be courageous.
    I haven't been working "a normal job" since Nov 2017. Thou I have to admit I've been struggling since then to find a reliable income source (which generates lots of anxiety and stress in those phases with less projects). I find it still better than working a 9 to 5, but it sucks at times too... If you have any comments or tips on this regard, I would appreciate it.
    Keep up the good work :-)

    I'm with you 100%! And I agree with all your points. My dilemma is a car payment (for another 3 years). And then there's apartment rent (with all the other sh*t that goes with that like utilities) .... and food ... very cheap food. Nothing fancy in my life which I'm good with. My job situation is disturbing for me because after my 8 and 1/2 hours at work, my total daily commute is 3 hours! So I'm away from home (AND away from my faithful dog) for 11 and 1/2 hours! I'm very 'Blue Collar'. Trading hours for dollars sucks! And my work environment is very toxic. I only have myself to blame for this f-ed up situation. BUT, I'm not sitting still and just complaining. I'm trying to pay off bills and get something else going. I'm learning through watching videos like yours, Conni. Ugh .... "soul-sucking", for sure! Love you, Conni, and thanks!

And the work environment IS toxic for me.... It drains tha shit outta me... Somehow, I got sucked in to this whole hamster wheel. However now, I have health insurance that I need. In the US, this whole issue is a thing. A shitty thing. Would you know options to replace employer insurance?

    Hey Conni, it's a great video, you are a big source of inspiration to me! I just wondered how you imagine a world with full of entrepreneurs, where everyone is doing their own thing? And I think a lot of people just don't want to start their own business because they rather work in a team or so.. definitely made me think about it all :)

    • @ConniBiesalski
      @ConniBiesalski  4 года назад +2

      Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, so I don’t think we will ever end up in that scenario. Many people wouldn’t enjoy being an entrepreneur and that’s ok. We all gotta do what makes us happy. What’s important is that people know about their options and don’t stay stuck in a life that makes them unhappy.

    I really love your videos, this one especially. Your hair looks nice like that, too :)
    I have a question and you probably hear it all the time: what to do when the fear is too big? I am currently in an apprenticeship and though it is kinda what I want to do it also is not at all. And I feel so stuck between quitting and moving on into a direction that will take me I don’t know where. But mostly I am afraid of hurting my family for not being who they want me to be.
    I try to convince myself to finish the apprenticeship and then do what I want but everyday I feel like I am wasting my time. Feels like there is sth wrong with me. I hope this didn’t ruin your mood! Thank you for creating amazing content!

    • @ConniBiesalski
      @ConniBiesalski  4 года назад +3

      Make an escape plan and then quit. (I have Videos in the archive on how to start from 0)
      You are not living your life for other people. Yes your family might get upset but it’s THEIR expectations. You do not have to fulfill them. If they only love you if you live how they want you to - then that’s conditional love - THAT‘S what’s not cool. If they truly love you, they want to see you happy and not miserable.
      You overcome your fears by facing them. By doing the very thing that scares you EVEN if it scares you. It’s the only way. No short cut, no 3 hot tips ;)
