Most investors will always tell you that there's no better time to invest in the financial market than now. I've been into trading for quite a while now, and I must say it really goes with loss without the right approach and strategy. I have gotten to the point where I understand that strategy is a key element of a long term successful trading. You can keep making wins at the beginning of a period and later you start recording losses toward the end of the trading period or even halfway. This results from little or no attention to the need for sustenance and consistency with the prevailing market structure. I've earned impressive profits so far this month trading with Dr Huffmantradingservices strategies and working with he's trading signals and I do that through he's registered trading investment company. I was able to get a loan on a house and am working on paying the house off in 6 years or less. I make my own cleaning products, grow my own fruits and vegetables, buy reusables like a razor, a menstrual cup, an electric toothbrush, i only get refurbished phones, if something breaks or rips I make sure I get it second hand if possible. Okay, an issue is a consumerist society that tells us we need to buy more to feel better. But the larger issue is a capitalistic society where a person consistently makes less than 13k a year, is in debt, and has to stop all discretionary spending just to have savings. We shouldn't fool ourselves into deprivation, we should demand higher wages.

  • @snigwithasword1284

You're straying into capitalist apology, at least in subtext. We shouldn't have to live like monks while the .1% can make bad business decisions all day (carried by the people doing the real work below them) and still not have to think about whether they can afford to buy a second yacht.
Consumerism can no doubt be a very addictive and unhealthy distraction, but we all deserve nice things sometimes. Be kind to yourself.

Having a little budget to keep you sane and enjoying life is important imo. Doesn't have to be big. But even a guilt-free $20 allowance can go a long way (a drink to celebrate something, an extra coffee when you're feeling low this month, a book to enrich your hobbies).
At the end of the year, you're out $240. But assuming you're not living pay check to pay check... what it means in the grand scheme of things is that you'll take 13 months instead of 12 months to hit your saving goals. Yea it adds up over the years, but there's a balance between total restriction and adding a couple of months to reach a goal in favour of some comfort.

I did this in 2020 kinda! My rules were no new clothes (only used), no buying “stuff” just for stuff, and no buying new makeup or skincare until I ran out. I didn’t limit my eating out budget because I didn’t feel it was a problem plus I value that time with friends and family. I slipped up a handful of times, but they were things that were meaningful and useful to me (a few examples include a baby yoda doll, a wig when I experienced hair loss, and a Nintendo switch at the beginning of the pandemic).
I also didn’t limit entertainment and vacations because I value the experiences. All in all it was a great experience and I definitely plan to stick with the “only used clothes” rule for 2021!

I relate to this. I was always very careful with my money because for a long time I was studying at Uni with a small stipend from my parents and some extra money from tutoring. Then in 2018 I doubled my income with some extra jobs here and there. Yet my savings were even less than the years where I would earn a pittance and that's because my spending doubled that year, partially because I kept watching beauty youtubers (that pressure to mindlessly consume coming from them is very real). Looking at the end of year savings on my budgeting app was a wake up call.
Now this year I've doubled my income because I finally started working on my actual career and I've been very careful not to fall victim to the "lifestyle creep" that often happens when you see your income increase.
Hopefully, this trend will continue on to 2021 despite the fact that I'm moving out of my parents house to a different country.

I feel like I've never really had an issue cutting back on some of these things because when I think about it; it was really unnecessary to begin with. I didn't need to keep up with the Jones' because I don't know many people I need to impress. (And some of the people you cut off may just end up being toxic people anyway.) Deep down, we all know that excessive alcohol is bad for you, exercise is good for you, and eating out is more expensive than eating at home. Once we just accept the facts as mentioned previously and don't feel pressured to have to do something because a colleague asked, it is so much easier being financially free.

And not for lack of money either but for lack of opportunity. Not much left to spend money on with Shops, Restaurants, Cinemas and theatres closed for most of the year and no foreign holidays either. What surprised me most was how little I missed it. With most of the casual distractions gone, I started reading books again, talking to friends one the phone one at a time instead of meeting a crowd, cooking my own meals (learning some new recipes), following classes in various subjects online- it changed my life. Even when things will be back to normal again, I‘m planning to stick to many of my new routines, life can be so much better with less casual spending.

I'm doing this because I'm 35 soon, have been working full-time since 18 and I have no savings to speak of. What I do have is a wardrobe full to the brim with clothes, shoes and bags.
I'll admit it's been difficult so far because of the constant advertisements shoved in my face every day; at train stations, on youtube, word of mouth.

it's amazing how a master's degree still lands you a minimum wage job like this girl. When I finished my undergraduate program, I realized the whole higher education system is a big scam and not worth the time and cost. I have a degree in Finance and even with internship experience it was not enough to start off at a mid- level paying job so I started off as a teller which didn't require a degree. After a year of experience I applied for a back office position at another back and transferred over to an associate position which feels more like an overpaid administrative clerk but I am not complaining because the pay is decent, the work is easy and it's so flexible I have so much time and energy for myself that I am no longer motivated to get a harder job because the pay increase would not justify the amount of stress and work compared to what I am dealing with now. I don't have any student debt and paid cash while I was in school so I am able to save a lot of money. I also am looking to cut back on spending for clothes because I work from home most days and can get away with wearing a 10 year old faded t shirt and shorts while working from home.

after watching so many videos I feel that although the income is less in my country, India... it's easier to save more due to low expense. As a research student I get a fellowship of ₹31000 monthly and expense around ₹6000. So more than 80% I can save each month. And that's also in Mumbai, the costliest city in India. Here people don't usually go for coffee or outside dinner so frequently like US. But still I can afford at least 2 (even 3 if I choose cheap restaurants) outside dinner within that ₹6000 budget in a month. The best thing is that we don't have an expense for car. People even don't need it because of good public transport. But in US can maintenance and gas cost is a regular expense.
But yaa, I hardly go for shopping. Probably it's more than 3 years ago I last went for festival shopping on a vacation.
(excluding my electricity, laundry and water bill. Those facilities are provided free for students in my institute. Also there is no annual tuition fees. That is given by Govt.)

I know you didn’t ask for my opinion but in my personal experience when I’d do a no spend month most friends were okay coming over to my apartment to drink at home or to just watch some youtube videos and talk about life. Those friends who insisted we go out regardless of all the plans I had financially weren’t my real friends AND me being 22 and most of my friends being between 20 and 23 they don’t seem to know what it’s like being in neck deep debt. Some of them don’t own cars or live with their parents and I am in almost 170k debt because the husband and I bought a house, I have a new car and a credit card and pay bills and rent monthly on my apt till we move. So, if friends can’t understand that you’re trying to have a no spend year then I think you need to make new friends. It sucks when you have such a sentimental bond with somebody but do you need friends who can’t support you? Most people are jealous that you are financially smart and don’t want to see you reach your goals, or they’re incredibly irresponsible with money and just don’t understand. Meet likeminded people in 2021, engage in free activities, volunteer or join groups on social media. Church can also be good for some people when it comes to meeting friends I have heard.

My husband and I hit a hard spot a year ago and did this exact thing. We were over 20 000 in debt. We both earn slightly higher than minimum wage. So we made a plan: No spending frivolously, no luxuries, only necessities, 75 euros to spend per week. In the beginning it was hard, but eventually we would end the week with 4 euros left in our pocket lol. I think we went to the theatre once in that whole year. I picked up every shift they offered so I managed to earn 500 euros extra every month. I went from 45 euros foundation to 11 euros with the same results. Same with food. Whatever Aldi had to offer, I'd buy it there. Within a year we were able to pay off an entire debt and save up 6000 euros. It seems impossible, but we did it. Even though we reached our goal, I still have that no spending mindset. Once you get there, trust me, you won't buy anything you don't need.

Wow a TFD video about someone who worked a minimum wage job? It’s a goddamn miracle lmao.
On another note I’m making more money this year than I’ve ever made, even while currently working retail because my job pays me very well. 23k a year seems like a lot when you’re only used to being paid 12k a year previously

the best thing anyone should do is tracking your spending with an app, track everything larger than $5. once you fully understand your income and spending, your behaviour will change!

The description is a bit off. It contains show notes for a previous story about the woman who did not like Dave Ramsey's method.

How can anyone earning poverty wages save light that. Like what about health care? Is she paying rent? Transportation? Bills? If mommy and daddy are taking care of that would be important to mention- lots of ppl living in poverty are frugal and can’t save. Shouldn’t we really be demanding a way of organizing society where ppl don’t have to lose all enjoyment from life and instead get ppl dignified wages?

The only problem i see is cutting back so much on time with friends. I hope she still mad time to see them, maybe in their homes, for free? Go for walks? Friends (good ones that is) are important.

I’m so tempted to do this!! I just put my 2021 financial goals up on my channel and a no spend year would definitely help with my goal of increasing my investment pot!
I hope everyone has a happy healthy 2021!
