Doesn't matter how strong you are. Physics are still physics. A lighter weapon is still more efficient and effective than an overly heavy one. Being super strong just means you could take even more advantage of that fact. A heavier weapon is an intentional handicap even by someone with super strength
@@pungivergiverofpuns3611 a heavier weapon hits much harder....take Guts, for example...he could be much faster with a normal sword, but he's still strong enough to be fast while weilding the Dragonslayer, which deals considerably more damage than any other sword, so he still prefers using it...so yeah, if you can handle the weight, heavier is better.

He’s right about the whole sword on the back thing, but he doesn’t at all acknowledge the fact that Kratos doesn’t grab his Axe the way you’d draw a sword from your back. And the hook keeps it from being super difficult to remove since it’s not in a holster you have to draw the entire shaft from.
It actually makes sense how the axe is mounted. And there isn't any other way for Kratos to carry that weapon than on his back.
The blades sticking to his back, on the other hand, have never made sense since 2005.

This just proves how amazing Kratos is:
- Incredible strength
- Incredible weapon skill
- Incredible accuracy
Also that part about the Blades having cracks (he said it's due to immense heat and/or use), makes sense. They were Blades made from the depths of (greek) hell and were left untreated due to Kratos reluctance, yet they maintained its shape since they are magical and were cursed to be bound to Kratos.

What he said regarding the blades is true in real life application. But has he heard of a word called "fantasy"? He said that getting rid of the blades, the game would be better without it. His opinion is basically a franchise suicide.

In his defense he is speaking like its real life because currently we do not have axe that can freeze stuff and come back like mjonir, sheilds the pop out and in, and blades that can light themselves on fire
and yet the first half of the game was without them
He isn’t stating the GAME would be better without them, but that the realism of the weaponry in the game would be better without them - he’s only saying this because he’s looking at the weaponry purely from the standpoint of realism, without context. Thats why he doesn’t realise the contextual reason for the blades initially appearing cracked, or the fact that Kratos’s absurd strength and control of that strength effectively allowing him to disregard the weight issues of increasing axe blade size etc.
That's why it's called FANTASY.

"why do they always put weapons on the back in video games" well... mostly... the player is looking at the character's back the whole game so sticking the weapon back there adds some interest and a clear visual representation of progress as you get new weapons or upgrades to weapons.
Kratos: sacrifices his humanity and freedom in order to win a battle that he was losing and gets blades of Chaos to take down anyone who crosses his path, which is also chained to his arms as a reminder that he will forever be servant of Ares.

Besides, things can be both silly AND awesome at the same time, just look at Warhammer 40k.
Blades of Chaos is an awesome weapon for Kratos. But they won't work and its silly to use in reality by anyone, the risk of hitting yourself with that weapon is extremely high, and just looking at the blades, they look really heavy, the reason it works as a weapon in the game is because it's a "magical weapon" intended to use by a special character, which is Kratos, also notice how Kratos doesn't need to manually detach/attach the chains in his hands connecting those blades whenever he uses or puts them in his back, because "magic."

Matt needs to review Draupnir now.(I think would totally dig it) Also Freya's sword Sparrow.
Some of the things he has stated are accurate but there are a few things that he has missed that stands out to why he can hold the axe he can hold planets and has defeated gods. Yes, it is known he is a created character through a belief system "mythology". And that's why the chain doesn't chop through his enemies it is clearly shown in the game that the blade is doing the chopping.
RULE OF COOL IS EVERYTHING WITH KRATOS and that is all BOY
Having the weapons on the back is probably going to be more practical when you consider there are a lot of climbing involved in this game
Actually the chains can chop through people, they can be heated (like the blades) and basically melt through anything

the guy brings up shortcomings of the chains but it is shown in game that the chains can in fact heat up and cut through stuff sometimes
On the point about chains. Yes getting whipped with a chain hurts, yes if you are hit with a huge chain in an industrial application because of some freak accident it could kill you. But Matt is talking about chains of the size on the blades of chaos, in a historical battle, against armored opponents. Just like how a slap hurts, someone swinging a chain or a whip at you would hurt, but there is a difference between something that hurts and something that is an effective battle weapon
Kratos rarely if ever fought armored opponents.

The Chained Blades makes a lot of sense what the speaker is missing is that Kratos has been using those for a very long time which makes him more experienced in manipulating how the weapon hits or moves based on all the odds he went through ,not a toddler Kratos but a seasoned barbecue .
They make no sense. They are attached to chains on his arms which magically disappear and then reappear, it makes no sense as a weapon and would be insanely inefficient.

Wow, surprised that Matt got so much hate over this video. It's a game and he is reacting to them based on his area of expertise, real life weapons. Therefore he judges it on how feasible and practical they are. He isn't hating on the game or telling you you can't like the blades of chaos or think they are cool, he is just saying that they are pure fantasy and points out the flaws it would have in the real world. No one is telling you that you can't enjoy the game, lore, or weapons, this is purely a very targeted analysis of a very specific aspect of the game.
