I really like the way these videos are done, without showing the videographer at all. It makes it so much easier to put yourself in his place and feel as if you are the tourist.
There is a reason why these capsule rooms don't have doors with locks. These capsule rooms aren't "rooms", legally speaking. The whole place is technically categorised as "basic hotel with multiple bunk beds", so each capsule is considered a bed. Same as barracks etc. Because of the Japanese hotel business law, each hotel "room" will have to meet the standards set by regulations defining minimum size (volume), emergency equipment, washroom etc individually. By not having clearly partitioning doors with locks, these capsule hotels can operate with these basic and compact rooms at cheap prices, without meeting hotel regulations (at individual levels). Of course, the whole floor would have every safety and sanitary features required for hotels.
This room-ish capsule hotel appears WAY better than a noisy & hot regular capsule in most all other capsule hotels. Wow. I have seen similar on RUclips but the price was $49 per night, not $18 per night like in this video of this particular capsule hotel.
No wonder so many are popping up So the ppl who open their own capsule/Internet cafe do so without needing the background as a full fledged hotel experience Hilton, Millennium, etc? Great quik Ed Thanx
Well, I imagine there could be a flimsy sliding door with no lock (like in some internet cafes), but so that a creative guest could use the door's features ("features not intended for that purpose") and his own small wire padlock to make it impossible to open the door from the outside without a lot of force and without making a lot of noise. Add a small locked cupboard (effectively a locker for bags) and I'd say that would be perfect even for a few days' stay! Though I suspect it's not allowed anyway, since they're not offering it...

I lived in Iwaki City for 3 years! It's also known as "Hula City" for its famed Spa Resort Hawaiians and post offices where all the employees wear Hawaiian-themed shirts. The people are very genuine, and it's a mostly rural area in Fukushima. It's about an hour from the Daiichi Power Plant, so many people who lost their homes in the 2011 disaster had to relocate here. A very charming city that's at least worth visiting once while in Japan.
I'm like you. I can't believe this luxury hotel for such a low price.😲 The only thing I didn't like about it was that you can't lock your room. Everything else looked amazing!
Thank you for uploading the video. Iwaki is my hometow which is famous for Spa Resort Hawaiians, a waterpark with hot springs. The venue of breakfast is named after this. Another thing I like is the hot pot. I miss it so much. Year it has small bones but still delicious. Iwaki is also famous for golf courses, one of which is Ocean Onaham Hotel. Nice location and nice food and a big bath. There are so much more.
What amazing is that how management and staffs keep these rooms so organized and cleaned, needless to say the guests are respectful and best manners, civilized. Only in Japan 🇯🇵

What an amazing hotel! I don’t think the cabin could have been any better, it had everything! I’ve often seen people complain about some capsules being extremely hot with no ventilation, but this had air, and it felt like a little hide-out ☺️. Also, I just love how tasteful, simple and elegant Japanese design is. Even when futuristic there is always that warmth from the use of wood and light. Anyway, thank you again for another beautiful video! ❤️
I really like your videos. It's great the way you show us some of the local foods, and that you sometimes take the slower trains so we can see the countryside instead of just a blur.
I am a belgian viewer and to answer your question, I do not know the name of the cookie but once opened I recognised it, we call them SPÉCULOOS, it is ginger cookies and I do love them too. As for the hotel, it looks like you were almost alone and I must admit I would be totally unable to sleep in such a confined room, moreover, what about your valuables ? As far as the ''western'' breakfast is concerned, the Cesar salad surprised me, I travelled in many western countries and never had it for breakfast! Don't take me wrong, I love Japan and I watch all your videos, this one was simply different. Thank you and take care.
Beautiful country. beautiful people. Their ingenuity in using every available square inch of real estate is absolutely amazing. I could do without the bones in the fish dish though.
hello from belgium, amazing that you find a belgian biscuit. in bruxelles, you can find those also With à side with chocolate or almond.very delicius! Nice day
Another great video !!!😊 All the trains in Japan look brand new ! The technology far exceeds ours in style and condition. I wish America would invest in railroads over here. It would be nice to be able to travel coast to coast uninterrupted. Your trains are always so clean ….not even fingerprints on windows. At rooms are spotless too ! We are so sloppy over here !😂
Love your videos! Particularly the additional food and other information. You would make a very good travel guide! I plan to visit Japan in a few years, you convinced me :)
If I had more time in Japan, I would visit these more provincial towns and cities. I´m going to Japan for the first time ever next winter. Osaka and Tokyo are given. Then I´m going to Hokkaido for a week. I love how well connected Japan seems to be with public transportation. I would probably like to stay at that capsule hotel just for comfort and keeping costs down.
Hello from New Mexico, USA! One of our license plates is on the wall in the restaurant you had breakfast in! We have three designs we can choose from and the hot air balloon is very popular. It's fun to try and figure out what custom plates "say" haha! Great video!
Thanks for showing about suica card. My friend and I will be traveling to Japan in a few months time, and I am the one preparing for our itineraries and stuff that we need.
Hello and greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 I really appreciate and like your videos❤ they show the surrounding , different areas of Japan, I always ❤️❤️❤️ feel like travelling 🧳 with you especially in the subways , trains 🚆 and walking 🚶♀️ through busy districts! Thank you 🙏 Dziękuję ❤
@@magdalenakordys5543do you mean service dog or pet dog? Most Japanese hotels don’t accept pets. You will have to book the more expensive ones that do.
As an American, one of the things that never ceases to amaze me about Japan is how reliable its public transportation is. Seeing so many students taking the train to school at the end of the video just really made it sink in for me. I’ve heard that many working people there don’t even have cars, simply because they’d never have a need to use them, since public transportation is available pretty much everywhere all the time. If I didn’t have a car here in the States, I’d be screwed. There’s no way I’d be able to work. The United States has a lot of catching up to do in that department.
Oh so wish we had these in Europe, what a brilliant concept and so well priced -could have fainted when you told us you got breakfast in at that price! Thanks for the video😊
That's such a great value for what you get! It's funny you say you're jealous of Americans with our license plates, but I'm jealous of the nice clean and convenient capsule hotels in Japan!

The only thing wrong with that breakfast was the Caesar salad, I don't know anyone who has a salad like that for breakfast in all of the U.S. There are salads available in many places in America, but not a Caesar salad, lol. Most people don't have salad for breakfast, but the few that are out there has a fried egg, some fruits, raisins or other various breakfast styled toppings. I've had a breakfast salad with dried cranberries, egg, spinach, various nuts, and various greens with a raspberry vinaigrette. It was quite good, but I couldn't eat it everyday. This was a great video, thanks for the peek at an interesting capsule hotel.

Its a surprisingly nice place. Their automatic checkin system isn't really set up to handle resident-in-japan foreigners though. It asked for a passport scan, and I had to contact their call center to verify that everything was OK. The bedding was extremely comfortable and temperature was kept to a just-right level.
