Your comment "...why does everything in Japan have to be so high quality..." is both sad and funny. I live in Hawaii with both my parents who are entering the 80s soon. Hawaii is known globally for its hospitality industry and they both worked so hard for Hilton and Hyatt Resorts to present a high level of service to rude travelers and amazed travelers. It is a cultural thing that most people who live in the Hawaiian Islands do their best to live by, the expression of Hawaiian Aloha. It is a view that all people who come to visit the islands are welcome and deserve respect and kindness for having ventured so far to stop by and visit. Times have been changing since the days of Elvis Presley and Don Ho, yet there are enough people who are willing to tolerate the most abusive of guests until local authorities show a consistent pattern of bad behavior through CCTV-recorded security footage. I know that my career in the cut-throat IT industry in Silicon Desert did benefit from doing my best to show Aloha to the worst of customers to complete any project. I believe the Japanese people share a similar existence of peace without chaos. Thus the role of delivering superior service for people who want to relax and escape the world for a few days is completely understood, especially if the service was paid for in advance.
Japanese ARE the different planet. The people make the society. But how long before Japan too, succumbs to the globalist pressure to import hordes of thirdworld savages to usurp and corrupt the nation?

That would be a great vacation for a person that doesn't want to walk around much yet see the sites. Looks cozy in that room. Great spot for an intimate honeymoon..
Only in Japan! I love how much Japanese love their trains. The Shikishima is extravagant beyond anything I could imagine a train could be. But one thing that seemed a bit out of character, was the use of an ordinary physical key for the traveler’s room. I would have expected something like the electronic keyless entry of modern cars. But that’s a small quibble in such an extraordinary experience as the Shikishima.
That's a retro experience thing. You see key cards at ordinary business hotel and such so they won't make the cut for the extraordinary. You don't see those physical keys anymore like black and white TVs.
Actually this has been a part of the European culture for almost as long as trains have been invented. Actually most stuff that you see in other cultures/countries was highly likely invented by Europeans first. You should see how some old European (and later also American) luxury trains looked like... They were not as modern looking but they were way, waay, waaaay more equipped and waaay more luxurious than the ones you see today. They had exclusive/elite, super high end wagons for literal residence, with literal restaurants, casinos, show rooms, concert hall-wagons, sauna room wagons, and so on and so forth... Then you also had trains with entire 3 story wagons with ''penthouse'' style residence at the top most floors, which were equipped with literally everything you could possibly need, as well as being connected to the next wagon for your personal chefs, buttlers and whoever else to have easy access to your wagon... Sh*t was crazy luxurious. They weren't just luxury rooms, it was like watching hotels, halls, resorts and casinos moving on railroad tracks... It was unreal! The one train I will always remember, is a huge red train that resembeled modern bullet train look, except it had 2 story wagons and was way bigger and was basically an elite/rich people only train and it consisted of 3 mega luxurious, absolutely enormous residential wagons at the front with everything else, with every other wagon, basically just being full of stuff where said elites/rich people could spend money and kill time while traveling, stuff like casinos, jewelry stores, premium clothing stores, art exhibits and mini art museums and whatnot... That was the craziest one I've seen...
It makes you wonder how Thomas & Friends has caused many to enjoy passenger trains and different types of locomotives for nearly a century+, despite airplanes being the main standard for fast travel everywhere else.
I now would love to retire to Japan! I was so amused to see people waving as you left the station and again waving on platforms! People are so cordial and civil and just plain nice in Japan!
From Egypt, I tell you that the train is wonderful and the entire journey, and the most wonderful thing is the way you photograph and the simple, enjoyable explanation. Thank you for your effort
I like to think me as Dutchie, can have a lot of appreciation for this, we too have trains with comfort, but this is by far more then just comfort, this is a pleasure trip if anything.
Thank you for taking us with you on your trip. It was so much fun to experience the Shikishima through your video. 😊 I checked out the official website and saw they also had one Deluxe Suite Room, and a Shikishima Suite Room. Both come with an entire bathtub and a fireplace, and the latter is a two-floor suite. 😮 That really feels more like a hotel room than a train, haha. As much as I’d love to take the train myself, with the money for one ticket/suite I could fly to Japan 2~3 times. :’)
Its really expensive but I think its worth riding 🙂 However even if you get the money to ride this train its still hard to buy the ticket because its super popular!

thank you for taking us on a trip, very beautiful, clean, calm and delicious! This train is very luxurious, I liked that there is a lot of light, the attendants were all polite! It was very good that the bus was from the same company, that you don't have to run around looking for where it stands, everything is thought out, I also liked that you can put your feet up under the bus seats! anyway everything was awesome!❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
This seems to be one of the most luxurious trips I have ever seen. I saw a video of the Seven Stars Cruise Train and also thought it was very luxurious. Japan is an amazing country with such wonderful trains. I think the food in this video deserves special mention because it even looked great. I'm glad that you went on such an interesting journey) Thanks for the video!
Beautiful Train. I absolutely love the quixotic travel. The spacious and cleverly designed cars. Stopping and exploring other places VS Speeding to the destination. The luxury of it all. And of course the excellent cinematography and editing. Thank You 🙏🏻 for the peace, no annoying background music.
Thanks for sharing the video. AMAZING TRIP! Your trip is much cheaper, than the orient Express and yet sooo much cooler! I’m loving this luxury train and would select it over OE any day!
This is a beautiful train interior. It appears to be Cape gauge 3" 6" the normal gauge for Japan and South Africa. The bullet train uses standard gauge 4' 8-1/2". The square interior decoration likely having a specific name adds a lot to the interior experience. Japan's volcanic derived scenery is definitely or extraordinary interest with its near tropic growth. This does seem like it would be attractive to mostly rail fans. It is slow and there needs to be an interest in the rail experience.
This train is not only popular by rail fans but also from non-train fans. I never knew about the details of this train. Thank you for your valuable comment!

Hola Solo, buenas noches. Segui adelante. Gracias.
Japanese people are lovely. The way they are waving goodbye is absolutely insane. Honestly, i always wanted to come to Japan and see a lot of things their culture , cities , mountains and ofc meet lovely PPL there. I hope to settle there one day ❤
Everything looks incredibly clean. People aren't fighting on every street corner, and there are no junkies or homeless people. Everyone seems warm and calm. I love their smiles, and I can feel their kindness just by watching them! The mountains and natural beauty are breathtaking. The colors around are vibrant, and I don't see any old buildings or cracks or graffitti in the walls, not even a small piece of trash on the ground. I want so much to live my life there or simply travel to experience that beauty! Greetings from beautiful Greece! I love you!
I hate to be that guy but there are homeless people, junkies and all that stuff in Japan - the government just tries to hide them away to make it look like there aren't
14:29 what an astonishing view, thats nuts I don't imagine the camera does it any justice for what it looks like in person. i wonder if it gets more beautiful around certain times of the year.
Really quite interesting. The Japanese design sense throughout blows me away every time! The bathroom is almost better than the scenery! HUGE! But on the other hand, If I ate skimpy but divine meals like that, I would be skinny like a Japanese, too! This really makes one appreciate the value of a slow train. You can actually grasp the scenery better, more time to absorb it, less blurry. Brilliant!
Completely agree with you! Another reason why this train operates slowly is to maintain a comfortable ride. As you may notice the train doesn’t shake as much compared to normal trains.
What really helps with the weight is that Japan is extremely walkable. The rail network is easy to use, whether it is subways, commuter rail or HSR. Just walk everywhere and walk onto a train when the distance is too great. Meals are perfectly sized - I find them to be very filling, but sometimes supplement with snacks from a nearby convenience store. I've usually lost a few pounds by the time I return from travel in Japan!
@@squarecracker American postwar policy explicitly prioritized freight rail, funded the interstate system so strategic trucking could respond to a continental invasion and encouraged air travel as a jobs program for reserve strategic air command pilots. Previously, the US had world-leading long haul and local rail with far less population density than modern Japan.
The whole trip was amazing and something really special you could do once in your life. The price seemed high initially but seeing the quality of the food and drink as well as day trips it was priced as something quite unique.
This is the most stunning looking train. The attention to detail of Everywhere! The corridors, suites, those unusual shaped windows, then the front carriage viewing, the food! absolutely astounding 😮😍😍 I have seen some gorgeous Japanese trains but this one is worth every single penny, that's not a train trip it's an entire experience ❤❤❤
Probably not an option as an American (especially one with food allergies) but I would love to ride someday. I have watched hours of cab view videos on rural Japanese lines, this seems like the ultimate way to exprience that in person.
I marvel at the interesting structure variety of trains in Japan. Rather than having one design for all train routes as here in the U. S. with Amtrak. There are several in Japan based upon the class of service that they provide.

All of that food looks incredible. I've taken the various cross-country trains here in Canada multiple times and the trips have been wonderful, especially sleeping with the gentle rocking of the train and sitting in the observation car overlooking vistas in the rain. All that said, those trips don't come close to comparing to this... I might have found my honeymoon spot (assuming I ever have a partner... lol).

Japanese trains never fail to amaze me. What a dream come true to ride something advanced as this. Thank you very much for showing us.
I love Japan! Of course, there are very expensive selections to make but "all" japanese are just so friendly.
I like to think me as Dutchie, can have a lot of appreciation for this, we too have trains with comfort, but this is by far more then just comfort, this is a pleasure trip if anything.
Thank you for taking us with you on your trip. It was so much fun to experience the Shikishima through your video. 😊
I checked out the official website and saw they also had one Deluxe Suite Room, and a Shikishima Suite Room.

That honestly looked like it was worth every penny. I wish we had trains like this in the US.
Thanks for taking me on this trip! Its really nice to be able to see and experience such journeys filmed and edited so well!
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the editing!
There seems to be great pride in the train, as there should be - what a beauty!

Thank you so much for recording this. I’m so glad to have found this video. It’s something I’d love to do !!
The peace and respectfulness is a pleasure to watch would love to do this one day
This seems to be one of the most luxurious trips I have ever seen. I saw a video of the Seven Stars Cruise Train and also thought it was very luxurious. Japan is an amazing country with such wonderful trains. I think the food in this video deserves special mention because it even looked great. I'm glad that you went on such an interesting journey) Thanks for the video!
It's bafflingly interesting how different society is in other parts of the world. Japan is such a good example for this.
So.... peaceful. This video really calmed me down, it was very relaxing even through a screen. Thank you for this, its going in the bucket list.
I love the doors to the rooms! What a beautiful train. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Staff waving goodbye in the beginning is so damn wholesome.
Ahhh! This train nerd goes again.

Que belleza. Gracias por compartir este hermoso video. Saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina
Wow! I love the window design in the observation and lounge car. Really impressive! As Germany gets dirtier and grittier every day, this reminds me of the good old times

The colors around are vibrant, and I don't see any old buildings or cracks or graffitti in the walls,
not even a small piece of trash on the ground.
I want so much to live my life there or simply travel to experience that beauty!
Greetings from beautiful Greece! I love you!
I hate to be that guy but there are homeless people, junkies and all that stuff in Japan - the government just tries to hide them away to make it look like there aren't
this must be one of the few videos on youtube I watched until the end without skipping. Thanks for sharing. Amazing trip! I would love to take it!

Winter coat and snow boots are available for you to borrow for winter course upon request.
@@jamesmcn0000 yeah having 125 million people on a few mountainous islands tends to help with walkability

So simple and surely lots of craftsmanship involved small tiny homes rolling over the rice fields… nice trip and we’re rolling.. 😊
excellent experience. Thanks for sharing it with us!! 😊😊👏👏👏👏👏👏
Probably not an option as an American (especially one with food allergies) but I would love to ride someday. I have watched hours of cab view videos on rural Japanese lines, this seems like the ultimate way to exprience that in person.
I wouldn't be able to sleep when the view is so amazing😅

Japanese live on a different planet .. love and respect .
I marvel at the interesting structure variety of trains in Japan. Rather than having one design for all train routes as here in the U. S. with Amtrak. There are several in Japan based upon the class of service that they provide.
Thank you for watching! Despite Japan being a small country, it has sooo many types of trains and train routes which makes it really fun to travel.
The US also has special luxury trains.

I’ve been watching many traveling videos, especially train travels in Japan but this is the first time I’ve seen this train, wow. Really beautiful and amazing video
Thanks for watching :) This train is the most expensive train in Japan and the ticket are pretty rare and hard to get!

You never failed to amazes me. I do really enjoy watching your videos. Love from Philippines.💕💕💕💕💕
This looks like a great experience and something I would want to do when I eventually get to Japan. It's one thing if it was luxury accommodations to just travel, but this is more of a luxury tour through parts of Japan. This is something I would like to experience when I get there. A nice train ride through the country with food/drinks and stops for some tours makes this look like it is worth the expense.

This train look like a 5 stars hotel, wooow
There's so much different trains in Japan I'm so glad I'm able to see them thanks to you and discover those beautiful masterpiece !!
I couldn’t agree more!
2:24 i swear japanese culture is so awesome!! Such polite people
Beautiful train!! the ASMR vibes are nice too😊
VIAJEM MARAVILHOSA...CALMA E TRANQUILA🤩
All of that food looks incredible. I've taken the various cross-country trains here in Canada multiple times and the trips have been wonderful, especially sleeping with the gentle rocking of the train and sitting in the observation car overlooking vistas in the rain. All that said, those trips don't come close to comparing to this... I might have found my honeymoon spot (assuming I ever have a partner... lol).
Culture of Japan is so rich and mesmerising.
Thank you for the compliment :) I hope you can use my videos as a guide when you visit Japan!
@@SoloTravelJournal sure refer to your videos on Japan Visit and will meet you too :)
Japan is literally the COMPLETE opposite of Chyna . Much respect and love to all in Japan . 🇯🇵 🇺🇸
As someone who lives in the UK, this looks like another dimension!
I would be STARVING at the end of that trip.
That's what I'm thinking.
What a fantastic journey, worth every penny (Yen) Thank you.
Love the video, the whole experience is amazing. Thanks for sharing. I admire the professionalism and dedication of the train crew!! keep doing those great videos!
It's the perfect gift for my mother's 70th birthday.
