I don't know what you finally did on yours but on mine I went with the same year steering shaft as the steering box and cut the knob off at the steering wheel to make the original steering wheel fit and retrofitted the linkage at the bottom. You will find out that the 66 manual steering box is offset by about an inch closer to the frame than the power steering unit so you will have to add possibly a steering knuckle as well.
Nice vídeo brother I want to make that upgrade to my 73 Ford, I will ve waiting for the second part. thanks
Its coming soon. I am waiting for some nice not snowy weather to get the truck out for a test drive.
can I use a 1960 powersteering box in a 64 F100? theres slightly more space since it has a 350 small block
when can we whatch the part 2?, its a excellent opportunity to learn. Very good work, congratulations.
Today at 3pm
@@robschwiesow excellent!!!
It is taking a little long to upload, it will be up this evening though. Sorry for the delay, it is a long video and I under estimated the upload time
I left my computer at work, had some issues with the upload. It won't be up until Monday, my apologies
What headlights are those?
Great video sir. Can you tell me where I can find a steering column for my 1981 ford f100 Custom wit an automatic transmission? Thanks
If you are looking for a factory replacement column I would check out car-part.com. They are a nationwide salvage yard database.
Another possible resource is Flashback F.100 out of North Carolina.
Any chance there will be a part 2 soon?
Yes, finishing editing tonight. Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday
What year did you get the new gear from?
It is a 67-72 gear from LMC Truck. Part 2 will be out in a week or so, and you will see what I had to do to make it work
Does the same process work for a manual?
This truck does have a manual transmission. What are you referring to specifically?
@@robschwiesow Does the upgrade work with either transmissions, I have a 4 on the floor (1969 with 390 4 speed). Do you have a second video? I take it you wound up shortening your column by 2 inches?
Second video is coming, I had to take 3 inches out of the column. You should be able to do this upgrade regardless of the type of trans you have.
@@robschwiesow I am surprised no one makes a bolt on solution (not the electric option).
There is the crown vic option, but that really isn't bolt on I suppose. The column modifications are about the hardest part of this whole thing. I could have just purchased an ididit or flaming river column and that would have made it much easier, just a little more expensive.
