Awesome pickup truck.
I’ve got a 1966 Ford f 250. I’ve restore the truck. I’m going to put power steering in the truck. And power brakes. Hopefully air conditioner. I love your show. I’m David Carrell
Just swap out my manual steering box with a complete power steering system out a of 1967 ford truck that I purchased from Flashback F100 out of North Carolina. This swap out was easy and didn't require modifying my three on the tree shifter. My only recommendation is to have the bendix box inspected prior to Install. Most likely the seals will need replacing. I'm $2k in the swap out and rebuild Of the box but everything looks OEM and works perfectly!
Nice dude!
I am just about to do this exact swap on one i just bought very informative video thank you
Awesome my friend! Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes!
Hey! I know it’s an older video but I just attempted this on my 66, I didn’t have to cut my engine mount perch as mine are from a inline 6 and mounted further to the radiator, but I have the same issue you described with having a hard time turning left and „rubbing“ how did you manage to fix that issue? It seems like it’s really hard to go to the left by hand (truck is on stands) but right is no problem and doesn’t bind
Hi I loved the video and just putting mine back together. Did you reuse the shift tube? My 3 is already on the floor. Appreciate it.
I need a double pulley and balancer like you bought. Can you tell where you got them and a part #?
Well I was waiting to see if it works. But I see you're using a floor unit..
Excellent video, high degree of difficulty in the case of the double pulley. Do you have a picture of the power steering box you used? Congratulations, you are a "chingón", greetings from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico.
Thank you very much my friend!! I will share a link with you for the power steering gear box very similar to the one I used. I purchased my through LMC truck.

I am in the process of doing the PS swap and noticed my drag link being too short. What year of drag link did you swap with this? I hear everyone saying any f100 from 1973-79 but they are all saying to add the disk brakes with that same year. I am just running drum but not sure if those newer drag links would still line up right on my drum spindles.
Do you have a part number for your harmonic balancer
You're my hero!
I try!!!!!
Put it in a vice when you weld the steering column so there is no way it can shift around
i like to know more bout this trans upgrade
I did not upgrade the trans, it is original to the truck, it is a Ford 3.03. I did change it from a 3 on the tree to a floor shifter using a Jeep T150 shifter.
Phil Teagarden, can you give more info on the 3 speed shifter. What year jeep? I have a 1968 F100 that the shifter was converted to the floor but a side shifter and would like to put it as a top loader. Thanks
It is a shifter from a T-150 3 speed trans, was used in many jeeps. I was not able to a reproduction, I had find a used one. You will need to modify the shift arms and possibly enlarge the mounting holes slightly
hey nice work, i just picked up a 65 f250 and someone did what you did but they got the steering column off center making the turn signal lever down real low at 7 o'clock position do i have to remove the whole column and re weld the bracket that mounts to the dash or can that turn signal housing be removed an re indexed to the right location like the steering wheel when its off?
I am trying to picture in my head of what you have going on. The turn signal lever should be roughly in line with the left bolt hole on the column mount. I can picture how they got it misaligned, unless for some reason they removed and reunistalled the column mount. Feel free to send me a couple of pictures and we can try and figure it out. My email is americanheritagegarage@gmail.com
What that you did about the shifter??
I moved the shifter to the floor
Cuánto es lo que se recorta?
U got to put the brake booster in
Customer was happy with the manual brakes. I had the booster kit, they decided not to go with it
Why did you replace all the steering components like the pitman arms and the drag link. On my 66 I used the exact same steering box. And a Ford power steering pitman arm. Mine seems to work good with the original steering components
On this truck the original pitman arm would not fit the new gear box, the shaft sizes were different. I had the measurements of the 2, but can't find them now. The steering linkage was also shorter, and it would bind a little when turning the wheels to the left. I am not sure why I had these issues and you didn't, I guess you lucked out and saved some money!
@@robschwiesow how could you tell that it was binding? My steering is still kinda messed up after doing the swap it doesn’t seem like it’s as smooth as it should be. But somtimes it is smoother than other times
When it was jacked up, and I would turn the wheels by hand(actually grabbing the tire) it would hit the right front bump stop on the i beam real easy. Then when I would turn it to the left it would stop roughly 2 inches short and I would have to force it, and I could see it kind of binding in the linkage.
@@robschwiesow oh okay I don’t think mine is doing that. I suspect my box. I heard the ones you get from auto parts stores reman are questionable quality. I love the 66 by the way. I have a 66 in the same color
Thanks, it was a customers truck, really clean. I installed 2 separate boxes, the first one I got from LMC was not good, was really jerky(a valving problem) they sent me a new one with no issue, said they had a bad batch from the manufacturer, lots of complaints. The trucks will only steer so good, due to the preset caster angles to help make the manual steering easier.
