ORIGINAL VIDEO
• Pentatonix - Papaoutai...
The original artist, Stromae, is Belgian. His video shows a young boy trying to engage with his disconnected father-Papaoutai means “Papa, where are you?” I saw a great live vid of PTX performing this in concert in Milan, Italy, and the entire crowd is singing along, since the original was a huge hit in Europe.
It's French! It's about a boy looking for his dad, I think!Thank you for this reaction!! ❤
Here's the original song by the original artist. Also features young Rubix from the Criminalz Crew dancing. The song is in French. The original owner and songwriter of this song, Stromae, wrote this because he never knew his father. The chorus is "Papa where are you?" You should watch it. "Stromae - Papaoutai"

You know what??? I really love you guys!!! THANK YOU! For the lyrics and all the info! What would we do without you #DWIDS thanks for all the feed back! :)
DWIDS-TV can you guys react to Beyoncé’s Stevie Wonder Tribute?
it is french :)
(Gaaaah. I accidentally vaporized my novel-length post just before hitting the post button. 20 minutes later, I'll try to recap the dissertation I had originally composed.)
Papaoutai is a (French) phonetization of "Papa, ou t'es" (Papa, where are you). Stromae (stroh-MY) is a Belgian whose father was a Rwandan. The father was often absent, and after he was murdered in the Rwandan ethnic genocide in the 1990s. Stromae's mother hid his death from the children for years. The song is a cry for the father's attention, which (obviously) was not going to happen. The original song (sung entirely in French) is both angry and sad, and from from what I have seen and read, PTX did a great job conveying this. A French reactor was truly impressed by their pronunciation, which is even more impressive when one considers that nobody in the group speaks French (they did have a French tutor to help them polish their accents for this song).
LIndsey Stirling's contribution to this performance cannot be overstated. I have heard recordings of this song from Pentatonix live concerts, but while Kevin is a beast on the cello, he cannot simultaneously perform both his cello line and Lindsey's violin part, and the song suffers as a result.
I know that you have run though almost the entire PTX catalogue from their official channel, but would you react to their performances on "The Sing-Off" (Season 3). They won the show that year, and it effectively launched their career, A RUclipsr named "Mrduckbear11" recorded all of their performances from the show, and the judges' reactions to each performance. The performances are all pretty good, although (IMHO) performances 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 12 are the best. (4 is when they gelled as a group, 10 is the performance which probably ensured their presence in the final, and 12 is a tour de force in which they showcase Mitch's voice in an extremely effective and compelling fashion. Performance 1 ("ET" by Katy Perry) was the first public performance by the group (other than their audition for the show, which is not available anywhere). They group did not actually meet and sing together until the day before the audition, so it's fascinating watching them get familiar with each others' abilities during the progression of the show. Caveat spectator: the videos from MrduckBear11 are not HD; they are only 480p, so the video and audio quality as not as good as the stuff you will find on PTXofficial, but the performances themselves are gems.
VERY well said!!
Pentatonix also did a cover of Radioactive with Lindsey Sterling
They already did a reaction video of that song
Esther sorry I watch these on my phone, I thought I had seen all they had done but apparently I missed that one
If you haven't already, you should check out their official "Perfume Medley" video. The group sings quite a bit of the song in Japanese.
Tell me from where he comes
Finally (=so that) I will know where I go (to find him)
Mom says that when one searches (hard enough)
One always ends up with finding
She says that he is never very far
That he leaves very often to work
Mom says working is good
Better than being in bad company
Isn't that right?
Where is your dad?
Tell me where's your dad!
Without even having to talk to him,
He knows what's wrong.
Oh holy father!
Tell me where are you hiding!
It must be
At least a thousand times that I have
Counted on my fingers
Hey!
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you where are you where? Dadwhereareyou?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you where are you where? Dadwhereareyou?
Whether we believe in it or not
Will come the day when we no longer believe
One day or another we'll all be dads
And one day or another we'll have all disappeared
Will we be resentful?
Will we be worthy?
Broodstock or geniuses?
Tell us who gives birth to the irresponsible?
Ah tell us who, then
Everyone knows
How babies are made
But nobody knows
How dads are made
Mr Know-It-All
We will have inherited it, is that it?
Should I suck this out of my thumb or what?
Tell us where it's hidden,
It must be
At least a thousand times that we have
Bitten our nails
Hey!
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you where are you where? Dadwhereareyou?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you? Dad where are you?
Where are you where are you where? Dadwhereareyou?
Where is your dad?
Tell me where's your dad!
Without even having to talk to him,
He knows what he did wrong.
Hey holy father!
Tell me where are you hiding!

Y’all should watch some of their full concerts, or more of their live performances now! Hassan Ahmed has an awesome full concert video of the Christmas concert.
You’re welcome and thank YOU! For your amazing reaction videos! Oh and the language in the video is French :) #DWIDS

Honestly stromae is a fantastic artist. This may be my favourite cover by pentatonix because they had to go to French school to do this song. Thank you for your awesome reactions they are never boring, y’all are amazing. I heard that you guys love rock music (honestly besides ptx the rest of the music that I listen to is classic/90s-2000s rock) sadly I don’t know of any rock acapella groups, but maybe one will come out one day. Stay awesome you guys!!
#DWIDS react to ptx attention
It’s French.
The fact that when the father comes in and the dolls are frozen and the son is not in the picture always made me think that he was a ghost. I'm sure a Pentaholic will correct me if the group has said otherwise somewhere.
If you like this, you should check out Pentatonix Radioactive cover with Lindsey Sterling. Great reaction man!
Kassandra Ragsdale they already reacted to that video :)
Esther thanks....I will look for it!
The song is in French. Here is the Original song that Pentatonix was covering. ruclips.net/video/oiKj0Z_Xnjc/видео.html
French.
It's French... it's about a kid who's dad is never around and about absent fathers in general. His dad is too busy with work and stuff to pay attention to him.
React to the music video Carol of the Bells of Lindsey
If you guys like System of a Down, check out this Japanese band called "Maximum the Hormone".

Yeah. The doll makeup totally threw me off at first! Also the french... since i have no idea what the hell they are saying. Haha
Iron Man... Stupified. Mnnmm! If I find an acapella group that does Rock well, I will DEFINITELY pass it on!
Lindsey is a bad ass for sure! You should check out her Skyrim collaboration with Peter Hollens. F-ing awesome!!

Stromae didn’t grow up with his father because he was killed in rhwandan genocide.
Yup! Pentatonix fans are also home free fans lol
