    PTX also collaborated with Lindsey Stirling on Radioactive, which I highly recommend you check out! Great reaction, btw!

      I love their version of Radioactive. I think you should also take a look at some of Lindsey Stirling's other work as well. One of hers that's a lot of fun is "Master of Tides" which was performed/recorded live in a public setting where they performed it "flash mob" style with Lindsey and the other performers seemingly emerging out of the crowd.

    There's a reason they add the stringed instruments occasionally. They found their beatboxer, Kevin, through youtube doing his beatboxing alongside playing the cello, so during their shows at the halfpoint, they always take a break to rest their voices and let Kevin play alone with his cello for the audience. Then they come back on and will sing a song with the cello. So for a few years they came out with a new song for every tour that had instruments (Radioactive, Say Something, Papaoutai). Lately they've been remixing all the songs together into one song for tours, but they'll probably use Dancing On My Own for the next one.

    There's a video somewhere where Mitch took over part of Scott's parts during a gig because Scott's voice was tired, and apparently native speakers found that more understandable than when Scott sings it, which I think is quite funny.

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Год назад

      As a native (ish) French speaker, Scott speaks French completely understandably. There are pronunciation faults, but ones that would pass you by if you weren't listening out for them

    If you like the instrument, you should really check out Kevin Olusola's video of Down. You get the singing, beatboxing, and cello. But if you are looking for their Christmas videos, there are just so many. I would recommend you choose one, and just go from there

    First, I want to thank you for all your PTX reactions so far. I love them all and I think pentaholics as a whole love to watch others become fans. You have become one of my favourites in the reaction genre.
    Ok now you asked for some Christmas songs from PTX to react to, so here are a number I think you will love:
    Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (They won a Grammy for this one). That's Christmas to me (an original with some throw back pics of them). Mary did you know (we get to hear Kevin's amazing voice) :) Winter Wonderland (ft Tori Kelly). White Winter Hymnal (a personal favourite). Little Drummer Boy (one of their earlier ones 2013) and Finally Carol of the Bells (another earlier one for them 2013). Again thank you for your reactions! Keep up the amazing!

    They have always used instruments on occasion since Kevin is a concert level cellist (he has performed at Carnegie hall as a saxophonist and a cellist, and he is also a pianist).

    Ooohh yes, I'm glad you did this. As someone mentioned in the comments, they actually first found Kevin on youtube because of his "Cello-boxing", hence why sometimes that element is included in a couple of their projects. I recommend watching Kevin's cover of Down, it'll blow your mind. He defines talent. For PTX Christmas, I'm hyped for you to check out so many things. They have some of the best Christmas music in my opinion. A few must watch are: Hallelujah, Mary Did You Know, Little Drummer Boy, That's Christmas To Me (their original), Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.. I'm so excited for you to get to them all :D Have a lovely day

    Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling do another collaboration of the song Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. But if you want to see more of Kevin Olusola using instruments, singing and beatboxing you should react to his covers of Down and Sign of the Times (if you haven't already). Those two covers are crazy. Just an absolutely amazing display of all of his talents.

  • @mecfstraveler
    @mecfstraveler 6 лет назад +1

    Since Kevin has such a passion for the Cello and was already accomplished in it, I think it was probably agreed on that he could play the Cello on numbers that would be best suited for it. I know that in 2015, their tour included a Cello number where only Kevin performs. I'm not sure if they've done this for subsequent tours tho. I just assumed they do. They support each other and try to make every member feel good about what they're choosing to do. I know, also, that Kevin was very conflicted during their first days on tour about performing on his Sabbath. The group said it was no problem and agreed not to perform on Saturdays.
    Kevin is exceptionally talented and intelligent. You should watch what he does in "Down" and ohhhh! I can't remember the other, darn it! It will be on his channel.. He did 2 numbers in that time frame and it's amazing!

    I think with them it's less about not being able to replicate certain sounds, it's more about adding another "voice" to their group. Because if you arrange things right, you can replicate a lot or you can go around it, but one thing they just aren't able to do anything with is that it's just five people and it puts limitations on them in terms of how complex they can make their harmonies. If it's just them, the most they can do is a five part harmony and that's only under specific circumstances. Most of the times they are doing a four part or a three part harmony (if the bass is supporting the beat) which is cool, but leaves them with less options and less to play with.

    C’est toujours drôle de voir des américains ou des anglais réagir à la cover de Pentatonix car ils n’entendent pas l’accent qu’on les chanteurs !
    J’aime tellement l’accent américain ou anglais quand on l’entend dans la langue française je trouve ça tellement sexy !
