One of the most emotionally charged moments in the show! I do wish that the writers of Miami Vice had followed up on the fate of Tubbs son though. Once season 3 began, they forgot about Ricardo Jr. completely.
@@bryantsavage5347 they did. The masterpiece movie pilot. Calderone's Demise. Sons and Lovers and anti-climatic The Afternoon Plane. 6 hours running time
"Hey man, you come back, bring me a Danish!" Best line in the history of television drama, coupled with an epic performance by security dude guy. Hopefully this scene is a requirement for all film school students everywhere.
This could be a great movie today, Tubbs son could be groomed to be a drug dealer and taught to hate Tubbs. He could kidnap a retired Crockett to lure his father in. I'd pay to see that.
Self-defense, my spleen. Tubbs' saying that was a ruse to get Harrison to fire at him, giving Tubbs and Crockett a reason to destroy him and the other guy. In other words, a revenge tactic making it look justified. Crockett and Tubbs were not cops in this scene; rather, they were avengers.
Can only imagine how Tubbs would have handled him... since Crocket says "don't do it like that" and afterward blasting them up.. if that was the easy way out, one can only imagine how Tubbs would have handled it
Technically speaking, I am pretty sure Tubbs didn't break the law here. Sure he intended to kill the guy, but he probably intended to tell him why, first. His sense of justice would demand that much. Simply calling out 'Hey I wanna talk to you' without a weapon in his hands pointed at them isn't legal grounds to open fire. The moment the corrupt cops did, Tubbs had every legal excuse in the book to reduce their skulls to the consistency of pond slime. Sure it'd be a thin defense, but I'm pretty sure it'd still fly.
Agreed. In my opinion Miami Vice jumped the shark in season three by focusing on Crocketts new car, rather than continuing Tubbs' blood feud with Calderone Jr.
@@johnstaton894 Season 3 and onwards was really hard to watch most of the time. The tone shifted way too much to really dark storylines, Zito gets killed off, and lots of other just all around terrible stories in general. Season 1 and 2 were the best.
There are two other shows that I also enjoyed watching between 1982 and 1988: Knight Rider, Airwolf and Miami Vice on Friday Nights at 8:00 to 9 on NBC.
I think Harrison just got that sinking feeling... It's always a bad day as a bent cop when they give you the oldest car in the garage to go and get breakfast...
@@JLeary45acp Okay, my .38 Snub will have fun with your ankles when your Bren Ten jams or falls apart. ;) Sonny should have kept the Hawes/SIG P220 from the pilot. Much more reliable. Switching to the Smith in later seasons was a style downgrade.
THAT AUTO WILL JAM SOONER OR LATER. THE FERRARI WILL STALL. TUBBS' CAR AND WEAPONS ARE FAR MORE RELIABLE, CAN USE INEXPENSIVE AMMO WITH NO PROBLEM. IN A GUNFIGHT, IT'S NOT THE GUN THAT MAKES THE FINAL JUDGEMENT, IT'S THE MAN!
Ok I'm a GenXer, what I really want to see is the teaser they ran on tv before Miami Vice started... It was In The Air Tonight, and Tubbs' shotgun blasts were coordinated with the drum break of the song. 80s magic.
If the movie "Heat" was recast, does anyone think Don and Micheal would have made a good choice for Hanna and McCauley? I could see both actors in that dinner scene going back and forth.
One of the more satisfying endings to the show.
Crockett advises Tubbs against taking this action, but has his back the moment it goes sideways.
I think Crockett deep down was gonna back Tubbs regardless. But the minute they got fired on first, all bets were off.
Tubbs took that sleaze out! He got Orlando Calderone later!
@@7261962 one of the most satisfying moments ever
because the moment is goes sideways it became self defense lol in the world of law enforcement it all comes down to probable causes
I would too especially to a great partner like that

MV should have made about 3 movies, this should have been the storyline for the first one.
They went on to Crockett getting with Sheba Easton.
Mann was busy with Crime Story.
@@leakyjeep5.9 And Dick Wolf had taken over, so the overall series became darker and edgier.

Something tells me Sonny didn't bring back that danish.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor guy
I am here and I am Danish.
That's what they went to do after the shootout.
I love how the shotgun sounds like a howitzer.

Somebody on another video said itd be just like bad boys 3
You should submit a script to someone. Sounds good
Sounds like bad boys 3
Hey, all Tubbs wanted was to talk to Harrison. As soon as he and Crockett were fired at, it was self-defense.

Casually flash the vice badge after blowing everyone away in a family revenge killing, then leave....
Jan Hammer's music is so great.
I love sweet revenge, GOOD JOB TUBSS!
That ending was perfect!
I like
"And he will pay but not like this"
I guess Harrison had a vote as well.
One of the most anticipated series of all times
Jeez, Harrison, he just said he wanted to talk to you ...
... assuming that was his intent.
There will never be another cool series like this, ever...
best scene in the whole series. The music is GREAT as well
Gotta love the super shorty
no, it's not a super shorty
it's an Ithaca 37 with pistol grip, chopped down barrel, and folding forend grip
The Season 2 Finale!
Awesome 👌🥷🏿🇨🇦
One of my favorite episodes
Tubbs in one BEAUTIFUL BLACK MAN🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇫✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
He is just as classy in real life. I met him coming through my gas station in the early 90s. Real nice and down to earth guy.
For sure!

Hats off to Phil Collins for writing that Jam.
Miami Vice.. Tubbs and Shaft are the reasons I’m a cop today

This scene is so unrealistic. The car did not explode when it hit the water.
Should it
It can explode genius he shot bullets at it
Poor Tubbs: Sawed off Remington 870, S&W snubbie, '63 Cadillac! Crocket: Steyr AUG, Bren 10 and a Ferrari Daytona/Testarossa! Does that seem fair?

Yup. And shot Tubbs. That was a weird set of episodes, but still dope.
Can anyone help me find the name of the Jan Hammer style song playing during the shootout, not Long Long Way to Go by Phil Collins? Thanks
Im surprised the car didn't explode from the shotgun shell 🤣
Didn't matter. They died, didn't they?
Which is exactly what gets cops in trouble. If it’s a bad idea for one, it’s a bad idea for all.
Tubbs and a short shotgun like peanut butter and jelly.

Yes!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have to catch myself and remember I'm NYPD..But if you remember Tubbs was a NYPD Detective..Before he went after Calderon in Miami..
