Thats one reason why a great TV show like this will probably never happen again😞

I can honestly say growing up in the 80's was like winning the life lottery. I do not believe there will ever be a decade like it again - ever. It was a moment in time where the stars literally all aligned. Life was fantastic. It was a true blessing being able to live throughout that wonderful decade.
Perfectly stated. Life was good in the 80s and we knew it then while we were in it! I also know it wasn’t free from terrible events and life wasn’t perfect but there’s just something about the 80s. The world, life, was lighter. Such a fun time!
Agreed, even with the ever present threat of Nuclear War with the Soviets, it really was a truly magical time. I often tell my kids how much I wished they could have experienced the childhood I was so fortunate enough to have had
Phil Collins OWNED the 80's, this is one of if not the best song of them all, that riff to start with sets up the hypnotic feeling I get listening to this. I wonder why this wasn't played more.

Agree the world had peace besides people using drugs more and the 70s. But definitely best decade ever and even when iam dead it still will be. This show is the 🐐 and will forever be. Just watching it makes it more welcome to be American. Omggg I want to go back. Miss it man a lot and miss everything about America back then
Crockett and Tubbs had a bond that was real. You could feel it. The whole unit, albeit from varied backgrounds, was like a family and I credit Lt. Castillo's quiet but strong leadership for that. The show that saved Miami.
This song is so beautiful, and i dont listen to this since 1986. My body shivered to the bone. But a feeling of sorrow for the missing of those days, th e friends... \I can even recall the episode, very sad,
Legend of a singer, and band. No one can compare. I'll never forget when this episode aired. So glad, they used his work on it. Espically for this iconic scene. Legendary. It literally suits it.
I love this ending. Tubbs' face when he reads the note then places it in his pocket like he's not even phased by it cause it's Calderone that needs to be afraid. I love it!
@@hwyman02 Calderone was mentioned again, there's an entire episode in Season 3 where Tubbs and Orlando Calderone battle it out on an island. It was Tubbs child with Angelina that is never mentioned again...
Phil is multi talented but hasn't had the fanfare or recognition he deserves. A superb drummer, singer, songwriter, actor, and all round effortless genius.
MIAMI VICE debuted when I was 12, so I grew up on it. It introduced me to Phil Collins - one of my favorite singers - as well as many of the great recording artists of the 80's. I remember the final episode being so sad for us, because my friends and I knew it was the end of an era. Miami Vice ended just as we graduated high school, so it was truly the end of a great era.
Michael Mann & Phil Collins ,it's not just a tv show,it's art. The brilliance and athmosphere of Miami Vice will never be repeated. The heart and soul of this period of time is sadly missing nowadays. Take me back.
Love this show!!!! It's the coolest show!! The cars, the clothes, the boats, especially the music!!!! 🎶🎶🎶.... From the Motor City where we know music!!!! 👍👍👍❤❤❤....
Miami Vice defined my teenage years. It was THE show at the right place and at the right time. Everything about it was perfect. It was light years ahead of anything else back then and there hasn't been anything like it since. I doubt we'll ever see another ground breaking and game changing series that had such an impact on so many lives across the world.
That scene and song is anbsolutely overwhelming! Born in 76 my parents haven't allowed me to watch the greatest series of all time. After the intro I had to go to bed. Damn I love the intros roto- tom arrangement so much...they are the reason why I became a drummer in the end. Miami Vice and all of its music will be in my heart and soul forever.
Jan Hammer is amazing, that roto tom is notorious lol i watch the series now with a good sound system and its fun to hear all the drum, bass and guitar work, had a reggae vibe too in alot of his music 🙂
I got this series on dvd for Christmas last year and just now got around to watching it. The way Tubbs is sitting at Castillo's desk with the dark sunglasses on is very well done and you can tell that he's still struggling emotionally from what happened, and then for extra moving effect, Long Long Way To Go kicks in. I love all the tiny bits of attention to detail here, Castillo checking his watch at 0:58 to make sure they leave for the funeral on time, Crockett lingering just outside the door at 1:01 waiting for Tubbs and how everybody walks out of the squad room together and how whoever the other detective is briefly puts his hand on Tubbs's back for a few minutes. The sheer audacity of Orlando Calderone sending flowers to the funeral made me angry for Tubbs's sake. For once, Zito and Switec weren't messing around or pulling pranks, they were there to support Tubbs.
Miami Vice is a classic just as Magnum PI was. They did things that were never done before. And have yet to be done again. Miami Vice took a dead section of Miami and glammed it up. Made South Beach HOT. A place to be seen. The Sonny Crocket character inspired a fashion trend. And they used the right music to set the mood. Pop songs. And rock. Interestingly they also used a Ferrari for Magnum PI. And was also partly what made that show stand out. A PI driving a RED Ferrari. :) Different tone of course. A show like Miami Vice...surprised there was no nudity. Was there blood? Have both shows on DVD. Full seasons. Would I buy them again if they remastered them for 4k w/ Dolby Atmos?
There was some limited amount of blood shown. They went about as far as they could go on network television. ( see the body in the wall in "Out Where The Busses Don't Run" for what was more typical.)
Anderson C Hahaha... oh, wow! No my dear, actual cocaine and its entire business created the Miami that made Miami VICE, there's a reason it was set in Miami and named VICE instead of Detroit or Wyoming Vice 👌🏻 Cool historic revisionism tho. You tried! 👍🏻
This had me in tears I felt bad for Tubbs losing his lady but his son is not dead Calderone took him and planted a doll that looks like his son......powerful performance from Phillip Michael Thomas👍👍👍👍👍
Hopefully when they make a Miami Vice revival, we’ll probably would see Tubbs’ son. He’d probably be a drug lord himself today since his half uncle took him.
Omg! I was very young that time & didn't understand a lot because english wasn't my first language. But I knew & everyone watching this episode with me that night, that his ladylove & his Baby both died. We all feel sad for his tragedy. But After all these years! Mr Tubbs' baby didn't Die!
There has not been a show like this since it came out. The music and the direction in these episodes says it all. We, as people are still talking about this show in 2021. That is how good the show is. We are still talking about it, today.
Survivor of drug wars in jungle, or you are paranoid and alive... or you are rotting in a putrid stream of dirty water... but yes, Olmos is a great actor!
@@robertobassetto885 I must confess that my favorite character is Castillo. This guy is amazing and Olmos gave him a deepness it is hard rock. Everything or anyone that try him is crushed. I love when he get out of his office, always great episodes
@@khaelamensha3624 True, and Olmos had to fight hard to make the production accept his own depiction of Castillo, a character that was completely different from the average "boss" in 70's - early 80's crime shows (Captain Dobey in "Starsky and Hutch" was a sort of standard). When I was 17-18, I didn't like MV very much, but I changed my mind when I matured. Great show, deeper than it seems.
This scene was one of the most heart-wrenching of the show. The music fit perfect. And his face after receiving the note, perfect you knew what was on his mind at that moment. The 80s had the best shows and music and Miami Vice is timeless , will never be matched or repeated. Phil Collins was and is Mr Miami Vice!
There one thing I love about Miami Vice. The endings were seldom happy endings. It always have a sense of loss somewhere in the plot. The soundtracks were flooded with great music artists of the day.
Remember this show as a kid, my Mom watched it.. I'm watching the whole series now with her and really loving it, it's definitely something special..it's mesmerizing..and it's still groundbreaking today, the music and style is just amazing! Just such a cool show, I'm so hooked! 😎👍🏻
Phil Collins.. everything he did in the 80s (solo and with Genesis) assured he could take it easy and tour every few years. Why bother with new albums? Pretty much everything he did in the 80s worked. I just played this a couple of days ago. It's timeless. Perfect.
I remember this from YEARS ago and it was the most heart wrenching episodes of its time and the decision to use this song was remarkable. A great combination.
The music, the cars, the girls, the boats, the clothes Miami Vice had it all in spades. Go I miss the 80s and Miami Vice ...........................................
There will never be another show like this , I’ve been searching but still haven’t found one ,even the movie didn’t even do it justice , I wish someone that really loved the show would just do the movie over for us fans

Agree the world had peace besides people using drugs more and the 70s. But definitely best decade ever and even when iam dead it still will be. This show is the 🐐 and will forever be. Just watching it makes it more welcome to be American. Omggg I want to go back. Miss it man a lot and miss everything about America back then
Phil Collins really set the tone for the 1980s. His music seemed perfect for that time.
\I can even recall the episode, very sad,
The tone set in the 80’s when it comes to music, television and Movies will never be matched
Legend of a singer, and band. No one can compare. I'll never forget when this episode aired. So glad, they used his work on it. Espically for this iconic scene. Legendary. It literally suits it.
Legend
There are no words for how cool this is.....
I love how his whole department supported him.
Phil Collins and Sting, two legendary artists. Their music will live on for years after they are gone.( I'm glad they're still here though.)
Miami Vice will haunt me for life !!
I love this ending. Tubbs' face when he reads the note then places it in his pocket like he's not even phased by it cause it's Calderone that needs to be afraid. I love it!
Exactly...
That scene was brutal. 😢😢
The only downside is calderone was never mentioned again
Tubbs face says it all " I'm coming and I'm gunning for you Calderone" cool as ice ,cool AF
This song brings back so many memories of a better life in the 80's..what a show...
This scene, this song, is the reason I want it played at my funeral
I said exactly the same thing...play this song at a loop.
My also
Never missed a episode...best show on television period😍
This is the coldest ending in TV history.
The "I'll be back" was like a volcano. My mouth dropped open. Loved this show.
Still listening in 2024!
From Italy with love 🎵🎧🔝
@@jacopomagnelli9732 You like race cars??
I love cars!

@@mariuszmachaek7524 I literally just played this song now!!!shivers up my spine!🫣🫣
One of my FAVORITE episodes, and the first time I heard Long Long Way To Go, which I still love to this day! 🙌🏾
The show & the music blended together perfectly
There will never be a TV series like this one.
Literally the soundtrack of the 1980s.
Haven’t seen this in years and stills give me goosebumps or CHILLS!
WELL SAID ANDERSON
Anderson C Hahaha... oh, wow! No my dear, actual cocaine and its entire business created the Miami that made Miami VICE, there's a reason it was set in Miami and named VICE instead of Detroit or Wyoming Vice 👌🏻
Cool historic revisionism tho. You tried!
That was the biggest plot hole in the series. We never discovered what happened to his son, and Tubbs never learned that he was alive.
Gosh, I didn't remember this episode, lol. Thanks for the breakdown.
I though calderone was killed earlier than this episode
There has not been a show like this since it came out. The music and the direction in these episodes says it all. We, as people are still talking about this show in 2021. That is how good the show is. We are still talking about it, today.
Absolutely best ever, clothes, jewelry, fast cars, best music.
Alot of actors made their mark there. Just 80s on steroids
Wow!!!It seems that each Phil Collins song reflected each occasion in the series!!!
I love that Castillo is the first one to surmise that something is wrong ... E. J. Olmos played a great character.
Survivor of drug wars in jungle, or you are paranoid and alive... or you are rotting in a putrid stream of dirty water... but yes, Olmos is a great actor!
@@khaelamensha3624 Good point.
He Personified Gravitas.
The scenes, the actors, the clothes, the cars, the music. It will be amazing if anyone can ever put this type of show together again.
Thank you for posting this. This is a classic Miami Vice scene. Can't believe nearly 30 years have passed. Good memories.
What a combination Miami Vice and Phil Collins The Best of the 80's Can not be beaten
Such a great song, so special, thanks Phil Collins and Sting. That's real music.
MICHAEL MAN, AMERICA'S BEST FILM MAKER!!! AMAZING, THE BEST OF AMERICAN TELEVISION!!! Raised the hair all over my body. Thank You!!! POWERFUL.
Greatest cop show ever. Can’t be copied or outdone. I miss my childhood
The music they had on Miami Vice was always the best. And always on point. It brought out all the emotions evoked by the scene it was in.
This was a very cinematic television program way ahead of its time.
3 decades later, never feel a bit outdated
AMEN EDWARD
The 86 is merely just yesterday, man.
A great example of how Miami Vice combined cool images and great music to give the show its own unique style and personality. Love it.
The music, the cars, the girls, the boats, the clothes Miami Vice had it all in spades. Go I miss the 80s and Miami Vice ...........................................
There was never a show like Miami Vice and there will never be again unless it returns my all-time favorite cop show Miami Vice
As a Miami Vice diehard this brimgs back great memories for me. Gonna watch this episode tonight!
There will never be another show like this , I’ve been searching but still haven’t found one ,even the movie didn’t even do it justice , I wish someone that really loved the show would just do the movie over for us fans
If Phil Collins is involved its 100% gonna be brilliant 👍
Combine his genius with Sting and this masterpiece happens 👏❤
35 years and still, this show holding up against time in a magnificent way. Still modern still fresh and new
Timeless jam by Phil. Born in 72 and this was and is still the best tv show with jams. No one else cld conceive this back then...this helped the world see different back then...all hail the 80s
Have been lucky enough to see him sing this live at Concert. Makes the hairs on my neck stand up every time I hear it. Memories that have lasted a lifetime growing up listening to him. Miss you Dad.
