If you think a low scoring game between two elite defenses is boring I’m afraid you are a casual. Good defensive play is fun to watch, bad offensive play is not

I feel like this depends on the game itself, not saying this applies necessarily to the 2011 BCS championship, but Super Bowl 53 between the Rams and Pats is a great example of a low scoring game that was overall very boring. Thinking that good offense and a lot of scoring is more entertaining than low scoring defensive battles is mostly preference and doesn’t doesn’t make you a casual, I think the era in which most people started watching football plays a large role in determining what preference they have for this.

@jacksondavis9717 Its prefrence but its a casual prefrence
      For example
Sb 58 was filled with great defensive play
Calling it boring was calling the game of football boring
      Thats good defense

To me any game where you know either both teams won’t really score or both teams won’t be able to stop each other is what i would consider boring. Predictability is what makes something boring. Games that end up in the mid 20s to low 30s is my preference

We have the LSU/Alabama rematch to thank for giving us a playoff. Back then it was blasphemy to have a team that didn't even win its division, let alone its conference, to play for a national championship. Out of all of outrage the BCS caused college football over the years and the constant calls for a playoff, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. They agreed upon a playoff in 2012 and it was installed in 2014.

    • @MattBuild4

How did this game give us the playoff? After controversial seasons in 1999, and 2001 the league rules were changed the NEXT season. So if they did it in the past why did they wait 3 years if 2011 was so controversial?
Also if this was true, then the executive command of the NCAA and the BCS lied under oath to the US Senate. Cuz what is a blacklisted topic is that the BCS and NCAA were facing vicious lawsuits from the G5 from 2009-2012. 12 universities sued the league, 4 state governments sued the league and the US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT held criminal trials on the league for anti-trust, fraud and corruption.
SEC ESPN and the merry followers love to claim this season inspired the playoffs, but historically this doesnt make any sense. You know what moves bureaucracy the most? How about $2 billion federal lawsuit for NOT having a playoff. Executives testified there were never any plans for a playoff in 2012 to the US Senate. 3 weeks after this US DOJ recommendations the CFP was announced.

@@MattBuild4 Let me get this straight, you think Boise State should be respected because they have dominated the Mountain West Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference before that? I'll let you think about that...
Also, Bama routinely wins 48 or more games in a 4-year span, against better teams, and under Saban, won championships during those spans.
Can't believe you are proud of "dominating cupcakes"...

There was no need for a playoff, Alabama and LSU would have played for the title either way and Bama was gonna win either way because they were the best team in the country. Don’t believe me just look up their stats for the 2011 season 🤷‍♂️

Everyone has an opinion, that being said, the best team all year won the championship game. Neither Stanford nor Oklahoma State would have fared any better against Bama or LSU. Defense wins championships and these 2 teams were ranked 1 and 2, for defense. You can complain about the BCS system all you want. It put #1 vs #2 in the Championship Game, and that's exactly what it was supposed to do. If you make an argument about the other 2 one-loss teams in this video, you must look at that loss: Stanford was steamrolled by 23 points by Oregon, and Oklahoma State lost to an unranked Iowa State. All losses are not the same, anymore than all wins are the same. By the way, Stanford's defensive rank that year was #30, while Oklahoma State's defensive rank was #61.

It’s interesting Oregon beating Stanford bc LSU beat Oregon pretty bad week 1. 40-20 with 3 min left and Oregon scored another TD at the very end. I think they just assume LSU and Bama had bad offenses because of how these games played out. Both of them were top 20; these defenses were just insanely good.
22 guys drafted from both defenses over the next two draft classes.

How good is your defense when you dont play a single team ranked in the Top 14 for total offense the entire season?

    • @user-et6sz3il2n
      @user-et6sz3il2n 6 дней назад

@@MattBuild4 That is an easy answer, simply put: When you play in the toughest most physical conference, against the majority of the best athletes, and give up a season long average of 8.2 points a game, and shut out your opponent in the National Championship game, you are: The Best.
If you look at the Offensive stat leaders for that same season, they all are from conferences KNOWN for their lack of defense. I would suggest to you that those are only top offenses because of that fact. As an example, Houston had the top ranked offense that season. Take a look at that schedule, and tell me with a straight face, that Bama or LSU wouldn't have done as well, or better, against that light-weight schedule...

@@user-et6sz3il2n And "the toughest most physical conference" is measured by what metric? Or is it just "trust me bro"?
Cuz if I recall in 2011 the narrative was the SEC is so tough, yet little G5 Boise State walked in Georgia and SLAUGHTERED the SEC East Champs.... got straight up manhandled by the little G5.
