Shiny hunting can be very bizarre. Sometimes you get insanely lucky. I've been working on getting a full shiny Kanto Dex for the last few years now. My aim is to have shinies of all 151 Pokemon in my boxes which means I have to obtain multiples of the same family to get a entire evolutionary line. So anyway, while I was hunting the Pidgey line in the Friend Safari, I managed to find the three shiny Pidgeys I needed all within an hour. And then when I was hunting my two Sandshrews I needed in the Safari, I found them both literally within minutes of each other! Another time, I was Sweet Scent horde hunting for a shiny Murkrow once and found a shiny Foongus instead. My party wasn't full, so once I caught it, I went to the Pokemon center to deposit it and went right back to the grass to keep hunting. My very first horde encounter back in the grass gave me ANOTHER shiny Foongus!

Last month I ran into a random shiny petilil. I was so shocked cause it was my first shiny. Pokemon moon being the first game for me to get a shiny shocked me too, cause I thought Pokemon Gold would be it. I caught it and named it Paula gold and evolved it. It is still in my pc box at level 55 😁😆
Same thing happened to me. I named mine Lucky and she is constantly switching between my box named for shinies and my party. Lol
I was almost about to object and mention the two clear differences between Petilil's normal and shiny versions but then you said exactly what I was about to say so.. yup. The lesson here is to save your comments until the end.. lesson learned. :P

How do you subscribe to michaels twitch with Amazon prime as I have always wanted to but never have been able to
Jubilee use a Pokemon with Intimidate, Pressure or Unnerve and a super effective move on the allies to increase the call rate.
A Mudbray with a call rate of 9 should call more often.
I recommend Salamence, Stoutland and Krookodile because they have great coverage. Also if you have a Virtual console Mewtwo.

I got my first ever shiny in shiny petalil but then immediately evolved it into Lilligant because I liked Lilligant. The kicker is that I didn’t see the star because I was talking to someone but my sister was watching my DS and saw it and told me. We freaked, I caught it and I love Lucky (My Lilligant). Even more I was just grinding up to evolve a grubbin because I wanted to go get vikavolt and got the shiny while doing so in just 5 encounters. I was in the Malie Gardens. I still haven’t gotten over it. 😅🤣

Rather than use substitute, just give your high level Pokémon a leftovers. It shouldn’t take too much damage, and it will be at full health at the end of the turn
