thank you 😭 ive been stuck trying to figure out some of the most basic functions and this is the only tutorial to actually help. this deserves more likes!
Was watching a bunch of tutorials on blender but yeah they always fail to tell/show the basics. I'm gonna follow this over and over till I understand how to do this out of muscle memory then proceed to the more advanced tutorials. Thanks for the video keep it up!
I was able to learn a lot about blender from this video, this was my first time using it and (with the help of a little google searching) i was able to follow along in around 40 minutes to an hour
@@2KA1D3 I never said I'm a professional, but rather, the complete opposite. I've made a total of 3 models and the wireframes look like any Blender user's nightmare.

This isnt a class on how to use blender, its a video showing how to model a gun. If you want to learn all the basics on how to use blender, I recommend the blender donut tutorial. If you want a tutorial for the software, dont start watching tutorials for making objects
@@stefanvuji236 me too, and i was able to make a similar gun model to this one, but i had to slow the video down for 1/2. its just that this guy is clearly trying to make a video for beginners, but he just goes WAY too fast

im a complete newbie when it comes to blender, i understand that this tutorial is ment for more experienced people but a little guidence wouldnt hurt, like telling us what buttons you are pressing, when i added the mirror modifier the mirrored object didnt look anything like whats on your screen, im stuck and i dont know what im doing. the mirrored object spawned instead of it being in the middle of the gun reference and the original half cube, it spawned on the side of my half cube and it sort of clipping throughmy object. what do i do?
This is true if you start on the wrong side, later your mirror will be on the wrong axis. You have to start in side view then make it so that the x axis is across
Yup, still having the same issue :/ @ThomasPotter any idea what we're doing wrong? I've followed it like 8 times, recreated from the ground up, but beveling the bottom of the upper receiver never works
I figured it out. If it doesnt work, just bevel the inside like its making you. Then take the 3 corner vertices and delete them. This will make a face go missing for a second. Then take the 4 verticies that surround the empty space and press F to fill them all in. This should bevel it for you
hello i'm liking thet tutorial but i'm having a problem when you try to make the gun a little less width you use g + x but for me it dosen't work it just moves the cube so i dont know how to make the gun less width like you do if you dont understand what i mean this is the minute youre doing the thing that gives me problem 2:37
Trying to join everything results in half the object disappearing. Is there anyway to make the mirrored side real? EDIT: Id forgotten to merge(by selecting merge on the right side modifier menu) all the modified (mirrored) objects
How did you rotate while being in extrude at 1:53? You’re going way too fast man it’s not a tutorial unless you show people how to do it. This is more like a guide made for people who already know how to use the program.
following step by step and it still doesnt match up at parts... This is why i can never learn blender im so frustrated. for one when i upload the refence image its not flat. it shows up on an angle but the cube comes in flat or normal. so it messes up everything. SO BNASICALLY CANNOT EVEN START. UGH. ya this isnt for beginners. you skiptoo many basic steps and now im totally lost. i dont blame you but im jsut irritated
Yes this is not absolute beginners tutorial. As for the reference image, I add it in from side view so that it comes in flat, you can also just select your image and press alt + r to reset the rotation and then rotate it to whatever angle you want with R + (the angle you want to rotate on, x y z) + the number - 90 deg.
