@@shinybeast8946 No, again, I think most people get that it’s a practical impossibility to listen to everything, so when someone refers to or makes a list of “songs of the year”, it’s understood to be limited to the ones they personally have heard. Now, I like this song and I left a nice, positive comment here about it. I’m baffled as to why anyone would take the time to shit on it, but here you are. Who hurt you?
I'm so happy that MJ Lenderman is blowing up the way he is. He's amazing man; wonderful human being and folk artist. I first heard his song, "Someone Get the Grill Out of the Rain" and have been hooked ever since.
I saw him a couple of months back at someone else's show. Had no idea who he was but ended up enjoying him more than the band i went to see. Hope he has a massive future coz he deserves it!
I first heard this song at a show Lyons, Colorado…there was late summer golden hour sun, a mesa on one side of the creek and a meadow on the other side where the festival was. My six year old son and I were on a stroll through the food area to plan out dinner and he heard this song. He grabbed my hand and ran back to where he could see Waxahatchee playing, along with Jess Williamson. He stood there transfixed until he grabbed my hand again and ran back to my spouse. She picked him up and spun him around in that golden sun. My nine year old daughter leapt into my arms ready to dance. This is a core memory for me that shined up again when I heard this on the good ol RUclipsr. I am so happy for Waxahatchee getting a gig on Colbert. Thanks for this memory.
Lendermsn’s harmony on this is the best piece of musical creation I’ve heard in the last five years. Absolute perfection. Reminds me of the best parts of Son Volt or the Jayhawks.
he's kinda doing that thing where it feels somewhere between a melody and this kind of ghostly background sound (impossible to describe, but so beautiful)
Funny, it was bugging me that I couldn’t place his voice. It hit me. Few weeks ago, he’s close to farrar, though he doesn’t have that deep baritone. Style-wise though, he’s farrar all the way.
Coming from a “rock guy”, this has taken the pole position in the race to be my favorite song of the year. “Like a song with no end…” Right, cuz I can’t stop playing it!
Just saw them last night in Denver @ Mission Ballroom. It was packed and they played their entire album and then some. The last U.S. show of this tour and it was absolutely energized. I heard them for the first time on Colbert and lucked into catching them on my last night in Denver for a meeting. Truly a stroke of luck. Incredible group.
The lap & pedal steel add a sweet element to an otherwise gorgeous track. Shout out to the director and switcher who stitched the cameras together - well done!
Will sound old saying this, but this is a throwback to the old, real Country Music. Nothing like what you hear on popular stations nowadays. Could easily be hearing this on a 70s AM station. Love it!
It was so good all these random people just broke out in dance. I can’t explain it but I just wanted to be there. Amazing live looping. Thanks for this.
If this is what country music was usually like I wouldn't hate it so much. What a beautiful song. I usually listen to punk and hard rock. This is great.
You should definitely check out more of her stuff and his stuff. Her voice is incredible, and his writing is so smart and different from what twangy stuff can be. She’s Leaving You is some peak songwriting.
Song of the year so far for me! The performance was too busy and had way too much going on though. I wish it were sparser, the album version is a perfect piece of art. Can’t wait to hear more live performances though!
LENDERMAN PUT ON HIS NICEST FLANNEL FOR THIS OCCASION
Dress flannel- 😄
And matches the Caddo Lake backdrop.
Vintage Pendleton :)

This is the song of 2024 so far. Just beautiful.
Really? You have heard everything have you?

It's my absolute favorite
So at the end of the year, you will have listened to everything? I can"t wait to hear your list. LOL@@stevecarll

This song has always existed. Just glad she found it and brought it to us.
That’s such a great comment. Love it!
All the best songs always have.

His live album is on heavy repeat

Keep writing. You painted a perfect picture.
This never happened
Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Spencer Tweedy and a couple of Twin Peaks dudes? This a super group fr.
for real!! So stacked
lmao
Wow.
Eliana Athayde y’all
Saw clay and Colin and almost passed out
This harmony reminds me of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. Sounds great!
That's exactly what I thought the first time I heard this
Her timbre reminds of Edie Brickell, too.
Didn’t think about until you mentioned it, but I hear all that. Really good tune.
I felt it has that same effect that Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings has for me.
Recommend a song?
MJ Lenderman hive rise up

This belongs in the alt-country chain started by those folks

Harmony is very much like Jim Boquist/Jay Farrar

So much talent, her new record is amazing.
So happy to see Katie doing so well and getting the recognition she deserves! Love this girl!
Very nice.
I like her voice and her songs.
Thanks for showcasing this cool band.
You're welcome, anytime
Not really a band. Waxahachee is a music project by singer Katie Crutchfield
Incredible song and shout out to whoever mixed this
Insanely good mix
This song is one of those that you cannot ever forget. Absolutely brilliant
Coming from a “rock guy”, this has taken the pole position in the race to be my favorite song of the year. “Like a song with no end…” Right, cuz I can’t stop playing it!
Real fine! I notice Spencer Tweedy on drums? Asheville's own Jake Lenderman, too! See you all soon!
I'll be there! Driving up from Charleston and absolutely can't wait to see her at the Orange Peel again!
WesternNC here.❤
We also got what looks like the guitar player Clay Frankel from the Chicago band twin peaks on acoustic guitar
I just love these guys. Lyrics, melodies, singing.... St Cloud is one of my top ten albums.
Man they sound good together.
AHH THATS MY COUSIN. I LOVE YOU JAKE
This song is amazing... it's been on heavy rotation on my play list since it came out.
This blows me away everytime I hear it
The new record is amazing. Can't wait to see Katie in Detroit!
Great performance!!!

I love Katie, her songwriting and her voice! This record is as beautiful as St Cloud. Can’t wait to see her again in May
I’ve been listening to this over and over again! So good
Had to rewatch this performance! Beautiful song ❤

Such a great performance - the new album is fantastic 🎉
Bravo. smooth as silk. Love this song.
damn, she sounds great live
Yeah this is record quality - the band is really tight.
I swear this might be the best anyone has ever sounded
Hard to believe Katie and Allison are the only two angelic voices in female country music from Alabama. ❤
Its true this song needs to be at the Top of the Country Charts! They need to sing together on a whole album...
Played faster than on the album. Probably had to fit a time window.
Such an amazing group.
I can’t get enough of them. 😍
Love seeing Colin and Clay on stage no matter who they're playing with. So much talent.
Is Clay from Hazel City band? What's his last name?
@@michaelfstratton Yeah from Twin Peaks then Hazel City. Clay Frankel! Such a cool dude.
An amazing song and artist! So glad she's finally getting to be known on a larger scale.
Luv it. Saw it on Colbert last night.
Didn’t realize they had new music out! So good, yay
Song of the year
So excited for this tour
Five years ago I lost my best friend, my brother... this song sings to him and our time together. Given a chance... I'd get right back to it.
Colin Croom is really playing with everyone it’s awesome
Clay too?!?
Thank you, very enjoyable 😊
Spencer has a very unique and distinctive drumming style
She is such a nice person in real life. Met her at a record signing. Her latest album is incredible. She and MJ sound great together.
Hell yeah, music is still alive in the South!
Great song, awesome harmony
this is so good love this song
Everyone involved should be so very proud of this song. Tears from Ohio.
Heard about this band. Beautiful voices and instrumental !
‼Twin Peaks Mentioned ‼

GORGEOUS
Waiting for their collab album would be so good
I love her voice
freakin gorgeous
Great tune.
Jeff tweedys son on drums! Great feel
Absent mindedly watched this on full volume but because I'm newly into the song, I didn't even realize till the song neared its end
Bravo, Spencer 'n the whole band is 🙌

Great great song
Shadow Plaid would be a great name for a band.
Got this one on REPEAT
This is the first song of Waxahatchee's i've clicked with. Are her others songs similar?
Yep - she’s incredible. Her album St Cloud is a good place to start - Lilacs is one of my favorite songs of all time. This new album is great, too
@@smarroy Thx for the rec :~)
Fire was my favourite song of the year it came out and this probs gonna be the same this year. Need to dive into more of her stuff myself
