This is rad. She’s amazing. Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee album “Tigers Blood” was my #1 in 2024. Tiny Desk is crushing it…Now it’s time to feature MJ Lenderman 🔥

Absolutely remarkable. There's not a day goes past when I haven't told someone they should be listening to Waxahatchee. A gorgeous sound and a phenomenally strong hit rate. No one has come close to her for years.
This has made my early evening over here in East Africa. Great performance. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 19th December 2024.
Been listening to her since bathtub. Got to catch her live this year and it was insane to see this tiny bedroom act I loved in high school morph into a total rockstar. The most recent album was my most played album last year. Really refreshing to see that even though "every chord progression in the world has been played" there is still exciting new stuff out there.
@@dayoutubeer I’ve seen her four or five times, including this summer-I miss the intimacy of her smaller shows, prob not gonna happen again as this tour she def upgraded to a proper theatre. Sooo happy for her 🫶
I haven’t stopped listening to their music after watching this. I have no idea how I have not been aware of this band. Just another fantastic discovery for me from tiny desk. Keep rocking 🎉
As a long time fan, Katie just seems to have hit a different plane since St Cloud. There is nothing as amazing as seeing the confidence in an artist who is just channeling “it”. As expected with her and this friggin band, this is a top 10 Tiny Desk for me
Came here to mention her sobriety too! It’s so cool to see so clearly how getting sober can take even an already great artist to the next level! Her last two albums are brilliant!!
Tigers Blood has been my favourite album of the year, it’s such a good vibe, love going for a drive at the weekend and blasting Tigers Blood, it’s such a liberating feeling, instant joy and positive energy - thank you so much Waxahatchee ❤
My album of the year, and crowbar is one of my top 10 favorite songs of my whole 500 years of life. This is such a holiday gift. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
I was so happy to see Clay and Colin when I saw Waxa in concert... personally past the point hoping for any new Peaks stuff but as long as the guys are making music I'll be happy and inspired
this is favorite band of the year. MJ Lenderman did part of the vocals on a version of 'Right Back to It' and it was heavenly. their voices were just made for each other, they harmonized so nicely. I can't wait to see what else this band does. ❤❤❤
One of the TOP TOP albums of the year. Not even gonna try to label it this genre or that... it transcends genres imo. Great musical craftsmanship- lyrics, melody, rhythm, structure, etc.
Easy to describe for me. Used to be what they called Alt-Country (back in the days of Uncle Tupelo) now usually just Americana or maybe “indie folk” but Americana seems more appropriate to me.
@@employee5002 Fair play. I was alluding to comment threads where people are bickering about, "this is real ______ music... No it's more _____... nobody makes ____ music like this anymore.... why is _____ more popular than Waxahatchee" Agree. Americana covers it though.
I have been a Katie fan since I was in high school listening to P.S. Eliot and every iteration of her sound just gets better, richer, more full... it's hard to imagine it getting better than this! I've never seen her so confident and present. This might be one of her best performances ever and I can't stop replaying it :)) Eliana, Cole, Spencer, Colin & Clay are all phenomenal and really made this set a knockout!! congrats KC
This season of Tiny Desk is giving up gold. I love this band. She reminds me of Alanis Morissette through a folk lens- but of course wholly herself not meaning to be referential.
Ahh, I saw Waxahatchee playing live this year in a tiny venue, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to!! So glad to see them on tiny desk again - they radiate so much joy when they play, it's contageous and I'm smiling now
It’s so crazy how she’s evolved her style, her sound, everything in the last 10 years. I think getting sober was the catalyst for her; I love love love her old albums and always will, but I’m super happy for her success, you love to see it. She’s really hit her stride!!
Happy to see her having success but it’s a bummer she basically ignores her entire career, prior to her two most recent albums. I also will never understand how she regressed so much as a guitarist.
@@jonde4445 I too am bummed about it, and tbh I didn’t love St Cloud..but I think her move away from her previous work may have something to do with her sobriety. I’ve never dealt with something like that personally, but she’s been frank in interviews about her addiction and maybe it was a dark period in her life, and she needed to move away from that entirely for her sobriety.
@@The_Soulful_Ginger That’s definitely part of it but I think her relationship with Kevin Morby and her sister’s job at a record company have influenced her too

These guys have the magic. Havent heard a band catch my interest at this deep a level in over a decade and I listen to new music every day religiously. So much powerful love held with the sentiment. Billie and F. And now this concert all in a week!?!?!! I cannot believe how absolutely outstanding @TinyDesk concerts are on a consistent basis. Thank you!!!!! ☮️🎵☮️
Katie Crutchfield's songwriting and vocal lyricism are phenomenal of course, and they're elevated by an exceptional band. Especially Colin Croom for the way he makes the pedal steel sing and Spencer Tweedy for his precise, elegant drumming. I think this version of Right Back To It is the best one online without MJ Lendermen. I think Katie & the band realized they can't recreate the haunting harmonies & electric guitar of MJ, so they turned the song into a veritable bluegrass jam. You could tell from their expressions that even they were surprised how well it turned out!
Lucky enough to have seen her twice in the last year or so - solo and with the band. Such a wonderful performer, and this shows the beautiful sound she and her band produce ❤
Tigers Blood is my favorite album of 2024. It’s truly been a guiding light for me through this tumultuous year. Thank you Waxahatchee. I don’t know where I’d be without you.
This show is amazing--got to see Waxahatchee twice this year. That's a blessing in itself! This is a nice year end wrap with a lot of favorites, a killer band, and Katie Crutchfield with all the confidence in the world. Thank you Waxahatchee for a really bright star in an otherwise difficult year!
This was fabulous and so unexpected. Finally got to see Katie and the gang 2 weeks ago in Sydney and rest assured they are even more spectacular live. Saint Cloud has been one of my most dearest albums of the past 5 years and Tigers Blood has been sweeping me away. I cannot get enough ❤

Though I've been a fan for years, I'd say the most recent release, Tigers Blood, is their most accessible.
