Agree 100%. Her first 4 albums were awesome, but in a completely different way. Saint Cloud, the Plains album and this are next level. I think the best way to describe is that she's not one of my favorite artists ever, but two of my favorite artists ever.
I wish I could get rt bk to it with my high school sweetheart (first love) treated me like a queen…. But my bestest friend since highschool 17yrs later (5yrs ago) her & her highschool first love and first they came bk to each other and they still 2gether with a lil girl ❤️
Best song in the world right now. My daughter (4) is obsessed and we jam out daily Edit- She’s just had a birthday and 5 now!! We’re still crushing this song and Takes so Much.
I can't explain it but I'm obsessed with MJ Lenderman's voice and how content and vacant he looks throughout this whole video. Immaculate vibes. Waxahatchee blowing my heart & soul away as usual, new ear worm unlocked.
I hope he gets some extra love off the back of the success of this song. He’s such an underrated musician. In fact, her whole touring band are all incredible talent.
Easily one of the best songs of the past few years. Waxahatchee is a melody monster. And the harmonies in this one... the texture of their combined voices is so soothing. Awesome. Think I'll go pick up my guitar now... Feeling inspired.
Three weeks ago tomorrow my wife and I awoke to the sound of our cat suddenly not breathing. We rushed him to the emergency vet but it was too late - they couldn’t save him. We were completely stunned, he had just received a healthy check-up a few months back. On the ride back I turned on the radio because the silence was suffocating me and this song came on. We both just lost it. Looking back though, it was the perfect song to encapsulate the way we felt about him. Thank you Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman, we’ll always have this song to remember our good boy by.
Great melodic hook, harmonies, and poetry. And the widescreen cinematography on the video is captivating. Awesome job to everyone that put this together for the world to enjoy!
Two words - wow eee. So glad this has got introduced to a British audience. I've got BBC Radio 6 to thank for bringing this sublime beauty to my ears. American culture at it's very, very finest. Up there with Bernstein, Thelonious Monk, Gillian Welch, Public Enemy, Nirvana, John Coltrane, Alison Krauss and Tony Bennett. Bravo from a totally captivated fan.
I heard this song a couple days ago and I just can’t shake it. So, so good. Actually brought me to tears yesterday morning. Those harmonies…wow. Thank you for this gift.
I loved her first 4 albums but Saint Cloud was one of those GROWTH albums that just blew away my expectations, and this was an artist I already thought was great. Sounds like she's still on that trajectory
This song has been playing in the background of my mind for three days now. A few times a day I catch myself humming and tapping my foot to it between thoughts. It's got a magic to it. Update: Almost a week now. I was reading the news and noticed I was humming this to myself. It's been a long time since a song has woven itself into me like this. Another: Eventually this song won't live in the back of my mind... another song got stuck in my mind for a while today, but I don't think I'll ever get tired of this one.
I have never once ever liked any song that sounded remotely close to this. This however is a perfect example of a magical song. Once in a long while, a masterfully written poem will grace us all with its presence and make us appreciate the ones we love that much more. Thank you for this song. How beautiful.
I don't typically comment on songs, but this one takes me places. The contrasts in the lyrics, melody, and video; the building of simple layers into a complex finishing that penetrares the soul are astounding. The chaos her mind and the soothing peace of his forgiving heart while traveling slow on a serene channel of water, together but not in close physical proximity to one another; still content with each other. also being so relatable to anyone who listens. "I get ahead of myself, refusing anyone's help" we all been there. Masterpiece
Can't even count how many times I've listened to this in the past week. Saw them on Colbert. Clearly country, but with a rock influence. Kinda reminds me of when I first heard Shawn Colvin.
This song is pure sonic bliss. Rich and bittersweet like a jar of molasses on the front porch in the early days of summer, sun lazily dragging the last remnants of the day past the edge of the horizon. A slight breeze gently rocks the porch swing in cadence with the subtle rise and swell of the sounds of a warm Georgia night. Longing and nostalgia creep around the edges of the moment, kept at bay by a deepening sense of peace that lingers long after the ephemeral golden rays of light have receded into the evening sky.
How do you make such beautiful music and intricate lyrics sound so beautiful and yet seem so effortless? Please make more like this! This song has stolen my heart! Absolutely beautiful ❤❤❤
Just heard this on the radio, and I was looking up the lyrics within seconds, to find the song. It's not too often when I fall in love with a song so quickly. I definitely need to look into more of her music.
even she said "ppl are gunna think it's a green screen" cause it is just that perfect. I did think that until I saw them on the boat and realized it really is just that pretty out there!
Oh my god I just heard this on spotify and I can tell already I'm going to listen to this a hundred times. My soul needs that wholesome country banjo plucking in the background. Absolute perfection.
This song is so beautiful and I can't stop replaying it every day, several times a day. I am a new Waxahatchee fan. What a lovely voice and MJ really complimented the song Love the boat too! Right back to it...Autoplay it is with this beautiful music.
Her sound just gets more and more beautiful. To say I am looking forward to the new album is a drastic understatement! I saw her in 2022 at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco and she was absolutely phenomenal. Anyone going to see her in May in Oakland at the Fox? 🤚🏼✨
RUclips recommended this song to me. I played it. I went to iTunes and bought the download. Can’t stop playing it. The video is so captivating. I love being among cypress trees and swamps. The scenery is amazing.
Keep coming back to this. Like a heavy blanket on a cold night. Can't recreate a swamp in Melbourne, Australia, but if y'all come here, an Aussie breakfast is on me!
Anyone else just keep coming back for this track?
yup! I keep coming right back to it

Daily…..
still, yep
Can’t stop, won’t stop!
A perfect song. John Prine would’ve been proud of this one.
Nailed it.
we so miss Johnny Boy!
great reference
One of my fave songs all time is "the other side of town"
Her evolution as a songwriter has been so monumental, this is just stunning and their harmonies are like a warm blanket.
Agree 100%. Her first 4 albums were awesome, but in a completely different way. Saint Cloud, the Plains album and this are next level. I think the best way to describe is that she's not one of my favorite artists ever, but two of my favorite artists ever.
I think this song was composed by a different writer

Beautiful song. Got tears in my eyes. Just married my teenage love after missing each other for 26 years. We got right back to it
Beautiful. This song really invokes strong emotions, makes me think of my partner as well.

You are living everyone’s dream, I wish you both nothing the best!!
That's beautiful brother!
He really did buy himself a boat! Great song.
Underatted comment
😂😂😂 👏
"it" is actually the himbo dome.
It's only March and I already know this is going to be my most listened to song of 2024.
March Violets, too
What were your most listened to songs in previous years?
This should be #1 on the Country Charts. Best song I’ve heard all year. Instruments, harmony of the voices. Perfection
Totally agree. Actually one of the best written ballads in years. Love the harmonies and instrumentals.
Very catchy tune, great vocals and harmony
i second ❤
It's Americana / Folk, and not Country.
Actually, found this on Sirius Alt channel. Got lots of play there.
Best song in the world right now. My daughter (4) is obsessed and we jam out daily
Edit- She’s just had a birthday and 5 now!! We’re still crushing this song and Takes so Much.
My daughter and I would sing "Fire" together every night at bedtime. Enjoy these days, as they will pass too quickly.
❤❤❤❤thank you I feel your positive vibes!!!! ❤❤❤❤ 4 yr old 4 hearts big ! Already!
I can't explain it but I'm obsessed with MJ Lenderman's voice and how content and vacant he looks throughout this whole video. Immaculate vibes. Waxahatchee blowing my heart & soul away as usual, new ear worm unlocked.
😂❤😂❤😂❤😂

I love how understated his playing and singing are, no wasted motion at all.
I keep coming right back to this song.
me tooooooooo
I get right back to it....
MJ Lenderman's harmony reminds me of Dave Rawlings backing Gillian Welch. Something about that reedy tenor that just sounds amazing.
I see it! This song would fit right in on Soul Journey
Sound almost identical to him. Glad I'm not the only one who caught it
Oh yes! Dave and gillian are top notch.
Jill adrews/Josh Oliver
Andrew marlin/Emily Frantz
Harmony makers!!!
I thought the same! The most subtle harmonies.
Have you heard her version of DR and GW’s song “wrecking ball,” on the cardinals at the window album? Gotta hear it if not
Easily one of the best songs of the past few years. Waxahatchee is a melody monster. And the harmonies in this one... the texture of their combined voices is so soothing. Awesome. Think I'll go pick up my guitar now... Feeling inspired.
Agree totally-

Sorry for your loss. It's dreadful when they go.
Dude, it’s just a cat. Waaaah
That's so hard. I'm sorry.
So sorry for your loss. Take care.
Condolences! Ah man.
I don't usually listen to songs on repeat but I've listened like twenty times in the last two days.
Likewise proper earworm

I did absolutely nothing to deserve this. Thank you Wax and MJ for rewarding my inaction
This collab with MJ Lenderman is exactly what we needed to start off 2024!! Can't wait for the new album and tour!
SONG Of The YEAR 2024!
This song just settles in, like a song with no end. Y'all gonna win some awards for this one.
Great melodic hook, harmonies, and poetry. And the widescreen cinematography on the video is captivating. Awesome job to everyone that put this together for the world to enjoy!
she looks like a Botticelli.
so beautiful to see and hear
Would listen to Katie sing the phonebook. Absolutely one of the best voices I have ever heard
Haven’t heard that [phonebook] one in a while haha.
Favorite part of the song 0:00-4:30
Yeah
This song is gorgeous & it turns out that the video is too. Wonderful!
"Lose a bit of myself , Layin' out eggshells" is such a good line
I love Lick a wound that was never mine as well
I could listen to this on repeat forever.
😂 no doubt
I miss you mom.
Wishing you peace and comfort
I miss mine as well. Not sure why but this song makes me think of her. ❤️❤️
Same…my mom would’ve liked this one
Same friend. Gone in January. On my dads bday… this song certainly hits right
Just listen to your heart
Glad to see a bigger artist finally put MJ on. Knew he was gonna make it
This song... so damn beautiful. Amazing harmony between KC and MJ. They have such complimentary voices ❤

This song is so good and the harmonies so unexpected

It's making me homesick. (Filmed where I spent my childhood)
Never heard of MJ Lenderman before but their voices are beautiful together. Album pre-ordered!
Boat songs is an incredible album. Definitely recommend it and he’s in Wednesday too!
Mj is like Neil young meets dinosaur jr

He is a solo artist and in the band Wednesday. Asheville, NC represent. Good music scene.

Just gonna say the last record saw me through the long days of the lock downs and so I'm coming to this one with nothing but love. Thank you Katie.
Further confirmation that Katie is the best artist of the last 20 years or so. Incredible tune 🎶

That's got to be one of the coolest shots in history. (Her singing while floating backwards through the bayou with no visible boat.)

I love this song. Whenever our newborn is fussy I turn it on and she stops fussing and watches!
obsessed with waxahatchee as a teen, obsessed with mj as an adult. This is so cool.

Katie & MJ, killing it.. This song is truly a salve for the soul. ❤
They need to start a band because I need a lot more of these voices together
So far, this is my favorite song this year
Such an amazing song. Cannot wait to see Waxahatchee in Boston in April 2024!

Bit blown away by this, had it on repeat for 3 days. Love Katie’s voice & Saint Cloud was amazing but this is my favourite Waxahatchee song yet
This video looks like Caddo Lake near my hometown, and makes me miss the trees/water in East Texas.
