I'm Korean, but living in Ohio, and I've had the hardest time finding a good place to get this - I found two places that have it, but both places have weird flavors to their jjajangmyeon. So, out of desperation (and strong STRONG cravings), I watched this, got all the ingredients, and attempted the 7 minute version - and I LOVED IT. It was the flavor I'd had in my memory of good jjajangmyeon, and I admit, I made it two days straight because I loved it so much. I made mine with onion and diced zucchini (which is what I remembered having in the jjajangmyeons of the past), and I nearly cried when I tasted it. It reminded me of when I used to live in Korea as a little girl. Thank you SO much Aaron - now, 7 minute jjampong and tangsuyuk, please? xD
I never realized why I love Korean food and some Asian foods so much. Not only do we incorporate so many vegetables into our "unhealthy" foods, we use a lot of umami flavors. Like in spades. The pull of Korean food is Strong.
I have to tell this story: I watch this video, pause it when Aaron shows the ingrdients, I took screen shots and ran to a local Asian grocery. I wandered around comparing the Korean letters on my screen shot to the similar looking packages in the store. I asked another customer if she cooks with Black Bean Paste she said she did and I showed her the screenshot. I told her I was following a recipe from Aaron and Claire on RUclips. Her eyes lit up and she said "Yes! Claire eats everything he makes! What are you making?.. Ah! The famous Jjahjanmyeon!" Then she told me of another Asian store that has more Korean items. I went and found the exact same ingredient he used! Aaron and Claire you are famous in New York!😃
@@forsaken7161 I think he means "Korean" brand or version... as there are many brands/versions out there in the market, but yes the black bean paste is mostly a Chinese paste ;-)
Just tried your 7 minutes recipe, and I really love it. The flavour I think is even better than the Korean restaurant around my neighbourhood. I replaced the chicken stock with chicken cube and just add little bit of water. For the fresh noodle I replaced it with dried chinese style noodle and it works perfectly as well. I also added some zucchini for the sauce also. The 7 minutes method definitely is a lot simpler, just the preparation before cooking takes some time. Definitely gonna try it again. Thanks! 😍
I have used this exact recipe multiple times over the last couple of months. I rarely ever comment, but this dish is restaurant quality and is perfect every single time. If you are thinking about doing this but are unsure, take the plunge it is worth it.
No way, i was just watching 'Extracurricular' on Netflix and there was a scene of a man eating Jjanjangmyeon and said to myself i want to try that. The next day you upload this! This is amazing, you know what i want hahaha! Thank you! :)

I just tried an instant one, and put fatty meat and vegetables and things in it, it was a little bland. Not bad, but I could have made the actual dish in maybe one or two minutes more! Sometimes we get lucky and find fatty pork meat in chunks, it's pretty tender and delicious and not expensive. So, if I'm going to do all THAT, why not fry some CHUNJANG in there, too! Substitute the meat with tofu (fried or whatever type you like), eggplant, and/or mushrooms (Shiitake, oyster, porcini). Substitute the chicken broth with any vegetable broth or kelp dashi. And Vegan Oyster Sauce do exist if you are full vegan. (Tip for eggplant: typically you'd want to fry eggplants to get the best texture out of them but steaming them also works as an alternative if you don't want to use too much oil)

Just made this today and wow it is really goooood! Couldn’t find the exact same noodles so I bought the frozen ones instead. Also added cabbage for more texture. Gonna make this again soon!
I made your restaurant version with ground pork because my grocery store did not have pork belly. Very delicious! It made enough for leftovers for tomorrow, so another yummy meal is waiting for me. Thanks for this recipe!
I love this couple and they deserve some credits for their works.... It’s like watching cooking class with a comedian chef and I love his directions... I sincerely hope their RUclips channel to blow up soon!!!❤️💖❣️💞
If you're using pork belly you can simply fry up the pork belly and use the rendered fat to fry the black bean paste. I usually use good quality American Bacon and I find the amount of oil it leaves on the pan to be enough to cook with it.
I can't remember the first time I had kimchi I just know once I tasted it and felt the crunchyness and the Heat I was for sure addicted. (the good kind of heat that you "do not" feel the next day) Sorry....just saying.🌶😲🌶😲🌶😲

I'd rather have a drinking game with "I'm not responsible for that"🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
This recipe is soooo good!!! I used Miracle noodles because I was fast carb but it came out just as delicious!!! Thank you for sharing 😊
Your voice is bit like J Hope's voice😍
Omg I thought the same thing
J-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPEE
Yup... I was thinking too
Love this sauce so much! I like your combination. One cooking and one proofing. I am a cook myself and I really enjoy it when someone enjoys my food. I think you know what I mean.😉 Thanks for sharing!
Aaron must be ashamed of himself. He is turning the beautiful Claire into Pavlov's dog.😋😜🤣😮
I love your videos! Up at 3am just binge watching them over again
your voice sounds like the voice of J-Hope hehehehe
Thank you for your videos, they are easy to follow and great! 👍👍👍
most jjangmyeon on korean cafes near me taste sweet and nothing else, maybe because the recipe isn't really authentic. I'm going to cook this instead
I so enjoy the videos. Aaron and Claire are adorable and very entertaining. You make it look very doable. I got black bean paste at the asian store near me and totally loved the flavor but didn't really know how to use it.. This recipe is being tested today. Thank you so much and keep up the great content.
“I know what you have in your pantry so let’s skip it” lmaooo because I don’t have whatever that is.
I made this with vegan pork strips and green zucchini and it turned out AMAZING!!!!! Thank you for the better than restaurant quality recipe 🫶🏾
But you can't compared the taste with the instant jjajangmyeon ramen, right?
Ayca 《》Totally different! 😍
My husband and I lived in Korea for two and a half years. Stopped by our local Korean market here in Canada a few weeks ago. Finally make my Jjajangmyeon. Thanks for the tutorial!! 😋🇨🇦🇰🇷🥢
I literally have no ingredients but love jajjangmyeon
I am so sad
And I live in a country where you can’t get almost anything from Amazon 😓😭
Just made this today and wow it is really goooood! Couldn’t find the exact same noodles so I bought the frozen ones instead. Also added cabbage for more texture. Gonna make this again soon!
2:23 "You must get Korean products..." ...Shows Chinese product
I’m here for this comment
I made your restaurant version with ground pork because my grocery store did not have pork belly. Very delicious! It made enough for leftovers for tomorrow, so another yummy meal is waiting for me. Thanks for this recipe!
does anybody think he sounds like jhope from bts??
I love this couple and they deserve some credits for their works....
It’s like watching cooking class with a comedian chef and I love his directions...
I sincerely hope their RUclips channel to blow up soon!!!❤️💖❣️💞
The second way of cooking Jjajangmyun is more my style. All that oil in the first one looks scary.
If you're using pork belly you can simply fry up the pork belly and use the rendered fat to fry the black bean paste. I usually use good quality American Bacon and I find the amount of oil it leaves on the pan to be enough to cook with it.
Nice job! Frying the black bean paste def brings out the flavor 👍👍
I can't remember the first time I had kimchi I just know once I tasted it and felt the crunchyness and the Heat I was for sure addicted. (the good kind of heat that you "do not" feel the next day) Sorry....just saying.🌶😲🌶😲🌶😲
