    Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) 2.7 is a free-to-play digital battlefield game and simulation environment. Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks, ground vehicles and ships possible. This free download includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region and Black Sea that encompasses much of Georgia. It also includes a flyable Russian Sukhoi Su-25T ground attack aircraft and the famous WWII North American TF-51D fighter. An additional 38 aircraft are available for purchase.
    The download comes with one of the most powerful mission editor ever designed, full network play and more than 156 AI weapons systems, 105 ground vehicles and trains, 50 air defense systems, 19 ships and 84 AI aircraft permitting you to plan and play highly sophisticated missions. DCS World is massively extensible through additional DCS modules as well as user-made add-ons and mods which you can purchase and download from our site.
    DCS is a true "sandbox" simulation that is also designed to cover multiple time periods of interest such as WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf War and others. Current regions to battle include the Back Sea, Marianas, Nevada Test and Training Range, Persian Gulf, English Channel, Syria, and Normandy 1944.
    DCS World is fundamentally a deep, authentic and realistic simulation designed also to offer a more relaxed gameplay to suit the user and his particular level of experience and training. The ambition is to hand hold users from novice pilot all the way to the most advanced and sophisticated operator of such complex weapons systems as the A-10C Warthog, the F/A-18C Hornet, F-16C Viper, and F-14 Tomcat. The only next step is the real thing!

    Hey Wolfpack, thanks so much for this wonderful preview, I really love the way you edit your videos to make them enjoyable to watch, with external shots, music and all that. I'm also looking forward to the release of the campaign: All 16+ missions are detailed recreations of original squadron records and combat reports, so the player can experience the exact same events as these young men in '43 - from the safety of their chairs, that is. It's probably the most realistic RAF experience ever released in a simulator.

    I’m fortunate to live on the South Coast on the Channel and we still get Spitfires flying over on a fairly regular basis (for various reasons, air shows, flybys of Seven Sisters (iconic white cliffs in Sussex), films and tv programs etc) we also get other planes such as mosquitos and p51s/p47s occasionally and the odd modern aircraft such as chinooks or (once or twice!) Apaches. It helps inspire my next dcs flight seeing the real thing 😊

    I’m sure you read it, but Chuck’s Spitfire guide has a fantastic table that you can use to estimate fuel burn for given engine power settings. I use it to plan cross channel sorties on the 4YA WWII server

    • @PappyGunn
      @PappyGunn 10 месяцев назад

      To add to this. I have a few engine settings by default. Cruise is 2450 rpm and about 4 boost. This is what the formation AI uses. Max continuous is just that, 2650 and 7 boost, good for cruising in a hot area. The Spit has a special climb mode, 2800 rpm and 12 boost, 180 mph. It can do this for an hour. I actually use this setting in combat, so I don't blow the engine.

    This is right out of "The Big Show" written by WW2 Spitfire and Tempest Ace pilot Pierre Clostermann, DFC. I read his book 55 years ago and it stuck with me to such an extent that back in '01 I had dual instruction in a TF-51D which is as close as I could come to flying a Spitfire. At least they share the same Merlin engine produced by different manufacturers.

    I have been getting my feet wet in IL-2 lately and plan to start seeing how I like DCS once I get a HOTAS and a major graphics card upgrade, though I won't be starting with the WW2 stuff in DCS I am curious what you think of the Spitfire Mk9 in that as opposed to IL-2. I absolutely love the way it feels to fly in IL-2, almost as if it has your back, doing anything and everything you need it to do. Just wanted your take since you have experience in both games.

I am now flying it in VR in Dec 2023; being able to use Mutithreading and NVIDIA DLSS makes a heck of a difference. Very immersive and there are sights that will take your breath away. Imagine overtaking 3 boxes of B-17s , watching them drop bombs and then have the Wing of Spitfires diving to intercept German fighters. I really recommend this one, it's not easy but it si very rewarding. And well made.

      The Spitfire LF.IX is also slightly anachronistic. Realistically we’d be flying F.IXs with M61 and 63s, not LF.IXs with the M66. Overall, the performance between the Fw 190A-8 and LF.IX aren’t massively different from the A-5/6s and F.IXs they would otherwise be facing.

    I doubt they would have took off from Biggin Hill(Not enough fuel to have a fight on the other side) They would have taken off near the coast. The UK was PEPPERED with minor airfields especially down where I live in the New Forest area of Hampshire. I still gallop my horse up some of the abandoned grass strips. Nature has taken them over but you can still see the outlines of the grass ones and many of the concrete ones are still bout as well.

    • @HydroSnips
      @HydroSnips 2 года назад +1

      Huh? Biggin Hill was a sector airfield. Squadrons from there defended the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 & later flew sweeps of all descriptions (rhubarbs, circuses, ramrods etc) over NW France in 41, 42, 43 & 44. It was one of the most well-known & most famous British airfields of the war. Yeah, the Spitfire didn’t dawdle over France with fuel precious, but squadrons from Biggin were in continuous action over both UK and north-west Europe (France/Belge) from 39-45. You’ll also note the external fuel tank at the start (plus Wolf mentions it at a couple of points).

      No, 2 years later.
      BoB was summer 1940 to spring 41. The British were on the defensive at that point.
      This is 43. They are making offensive moves against the continent.

    The first flight of the Spitfire Mk IX was in September 1941 (Spitfire Mk III testbed aircraft with Merlin 61). First entered servive in June 1942. No Mk IXs in February 1941 - didn't exist then.
    DCS should simulate the Tardis too!

      Why are you talking about 1941 when it clearly says “1943” at the very start of the video? Reflected Sims even leave a comment saying it’s set in 1943.

      RUclips compression algorithm isn't doing it any favours either...tbh Wolfpack's videos are pretty good for capture quality by comparison to most others...he makes the SH videos look extremely cinematic especially for such old games... really high quality production values 👍
