I just bought a Qweber 1200 because of watching your videos. You make cooking look so easy. I even bought the beer can holder for when I try roasting a chicken. Thanks.
@@GallaghersGrub oh no! I guess I better buy a smaller chicken...I’ve seen really small ones here in Japan. I saw a Q Dome bbq, I guess that's the Kettle, at Costco here, too. Surprised me.

100 episodes, congratulations. By the way been meaning to say great looking beard buddy. Combined with the flannel shirt and the outdoors its a great look. Now about the chicken, looked fantastic. You presented a interesting problem. All my beer can holders are much lower to the grill then yours so I haven't run into this problem. However you're solution was brilliant. By the way as I'm doing this I'm waiting for Criss from LSG to call back so I can finally place my order. Looking forward to seeing 100 more episodes. So keep on grilling. 😃🔥🍻🔥🍻🔥
Thanks Victor. The beard is finally past the itching stage. Lol! Man, I'm jealous about the LSG. Those really are top of the line. Good luck with the catering biz!
@@GallaghersGrub thank you on my LSG purchase. What I am getting is the insulated vertical water smoker, the large one with the competition cart and off road tires so maybe I can do some bbq competition's in 2021 if I can. I'll definitely show it on y tube when I get it. 👍
@@GallaghersGrub it's going to be really nice. However I don't expect any profitability until maybe 2022 at the earliest. Currently I put any profits right back in. I drive truck Monday through Friday each week. I'm currently 61 , I intend to retire from driving by 65. For now it's all about getting my business legal and aquireing all the equipment and facilities needed ( commercial kitchen, food trailer, walk in coolers, etc. ) So when I permanently step out of trucking I'm all set with everything I need including a good customer base. The hard part will be the next two years doing one job full time while also building a new business. But I look forward to this challenge. That's why I went with this new smoker. I don't know if you watched the video by Criss on it but for example it has enough fuel capacity and is so efficient it can hold at 225 °f for 30 to 35 hours before adding fuel. I'll never do a cook that long but it does mean I can fire it up on a Friday night, load it, and have fully cook brisket the next morning and not have to babysit the meat. Anyway, I apologize for going on about this but as you might imagine I'm very excited. Come on February. 😄🔥
Congrats on the 100th video. I m so glad I came across your channel a few years ago been enjoying the simplicity of your videos and recipes and have tried a few which are delicious. I did a roasted chicken on my Weber kettle this past may and it came amazing definitely give it a try with a beer can tho. That chicken did look very juicey. When you were spinning it on the cutting board in the pan I was waiting for it to start walking lol.
So THAT'S what Bud Light is good for... I always wondered what that peasant swill was used for. Nice job, and a great looking bird. Thanks for sharing! P.S... Just got my Q1200 yesterday, your channel had a major role in my decision. This will probably be the last weekend for the kettle, gonna use the Q through the winter here in Maine. Thanks again sir, see you next time.
Right on, Maine. Our cottage is in CT and we're going to have to close it up for the winter pretty soon. Foliage these past few weeks has been just amazing.
Congratulations on your milestone. Traveling full time in an Airstream and carry WeberQ and Weber Kettle. Never cook inside the Airstream. Current favorite is boneless turkey breast using snake method on kettle. Keep up the good work and keep your bride happy!
Living that camping life! I cooked a huge turkey on the kettle last year for Thanksgiving, but it was too hectic of a day to make a video. Thanks for the marital advice. Cheers Terry!
Great chicken! You did a great vlog on the beer-can-chicken! The use of the bricks in the kettle was a great idea! Thank you for the great info! Best wishes to you and the Mrs. Cheers to the both of you! Hope you finished the other half of the Bud Light - it is good for what it is (a light tasting brew)! 😀🍺🍗
Thanks so much as always, Bill! Of course I drank the Bud Light. I don't mind it at all. Just needs to be ice cold. Perfect in the summer especially. Cheers man!
@@GallaghersGrub That made me laugh! 😂😂. Saturday indeed and a huge storm so no grilling for me this weekend. Maybe you can do some more so I have something cool to watch?! 😀😀
I take the top of the can off, in the can I put half an onion, garlic, half can of beer, put the other half of onion put that were the head was, let it melt down into the bird, can drape with bacon if you wish, 1 hour 40 minutes done, enjoy !
Thanks for the video. I'm new to BBQ and so far my issue is getting, and keeping, a consistent heat in the BBQ without having to add or change coals. I worry that if I tried this recipe, either the BBQ would get cold by the end or it would be so hot that the chicken gets incinerated!
Stick with Kingsford charcoal briquettes if you're just starting out. They burn consistently, and don't burn too hot. Then regulate the temperature with the vent on the bottom and lid. You'll get the hang of it in no time. You may even want to practice doing a longer cook without any food on there.
Thank you for sharing your expertise. Have you tried grilling prime rub on the Weber Kettle. I would enjoy your take on it. I have done it on my Weber Performer. A 4lb. prime rib did very good. Super good taste with red oak chips and charcoal.
I like your video. But I noticed that you put only 2 pieces of wood in the Webber. Is that enough to get a really good smoke flavor? And how much is too much wood.
Some woods are also more flavorful than others. Mesquite and hickory can be quite strong. Fruit woods like apple and cherry can be more subtle. Depends on how much smoke flavor you like.
@@GallaghersGrub .. and if I could ask you one more question, I would appreciate it. I am currently using Western hickory BBQ smoking chips and I'm thinking about using lumberjack pellets. Have you had any experience with the Western BBQ smoking chips????
Don't poke holes in the top of the can, just cut the top off with a can opener.. Takes 2 seconds and comes right off! We always do that and add some fresh herbs and spices into our beer, give the chicken more flavor
@@GallaghersGrub THANKS! I have a "beer can" stand for the chicken (I don't put a beer can in it), but it makes a great rack for the standing chicken. Cast iron pan is a great idea too! Save those drippins!
Beer can chicken is kind of a gimmick.... the beer needs to get to 212* which it can't do in the chicken to boil, The thing that makes the chicken juicy is the way it is cooked, standing the chicken up makes the juice(fat) from the bird self baste the breast. I've done test (you should too and video it) and an empty can did the same for me as a can with liquid in it. Still was a great looking bird, and happy 100!
It's interesting Toby. I have seen quite a few articles debunking it. But in practice, I get great results every time. I would think that since the bottom 1/4 of the can is exposed to 375 degree heat for an hour and a half, the contents would steam. Regardless, it makes for a great bird and is sure to impress your friends. Cheers man!
