I’m a 21 year old autistic dad, today is the 5th and my baby was born two days ago. I just got home from being discharged finally and the only way I’ve held the baby is her being passed to me; I’m still scared of hurting her but now that I know the proper technique, I’m very excited for when she wakes up I was expecting this to be easy, but as soon as I was passed the baby for the first time, I broke into tears
Ok, first of all, congratulations to all the parents and family of newborns!! Best of luck!! I really needed this because I'm helping in a baby class at my church tomorrow and I don't want to hurt the poor babies and have angry mothers chasing after me!! So thank you so much!!
Actualy thank you. My baby girl was born today and all I could think of was "Be gentle, be gentle, be gentle......." Making me realy anxious. She was lying on a blanket and I was trying to grab her with the blanket, but everytime i touched her, I was even more anxious, because I really don't wannt hurt her or discomfort her. This video have actualy told me nothing about How I should pick her up. It just showed me, not to be anxious about it. Damn.. I know I will feel the very same way tomorrow, but perhaps I'll remember this video and tell myself, it's not such a big deal..
My family doctor and nurses at the hospital said that you should never pick up a newborn that is below one month of age like this. Newborns should always be picked up through rolling motions. Also babies below one month of age should never be burped over the sholder. It is very confusing.
I'm going to become an uncle in September. I will probably have to help my sister with her baby in case our mother is unable to travel to where she lives. So, this video was truly helpful!
My anxiety level is through the roof😁😁😁I've been an uncle since I was 10 so I do have experience with babies...I just never had to hold a newborn...the uncle is becoming a dad soon
Thanks for this. All other videos show that you go through the armpits but my hands are too small for that. I can't support babys head properly if I go through the armpits
Watching cuz my little sister just had a baby and I've been around tooooons of toddlers and babysat so many kids. Even helped raised my siblings. But it just hit me that I have never held a newborn. 😆
I keep telling my mom that this is how she needs to pick up my baby but she keeps picking him up the wrong way. I'm gonna have to show her this video, so she could see that I'm I'm not just making stuff up like how she thinks I am. She knows how to hold him but she doesn't know how to pick him up and it's infuriating me at this point because I've told her time and time again. Sorry, rant over but thank you so much for this video.
Mh baby cousin (1 year old) is a chonky baby and I have trouble picking her up because she’s heavy and I don’t wanna hurt her but I have noodle arms, any tips?
I'm 13 and I've never carried a baby before. My newborn cousin Is right next to me while I'm playing minecraft and she honestly looks like a doll or a robot and her hands are so frickin tiny omg. (I've never seen a baby before) and I'm scared to drop her if I ever carry her so thanks!!
This is actually incorrect, you are supposed to pick up the baby by the side- no need to hold the neck then and most importantly that's how they practice neck muscles
Actually, this is one correct away to hold a baby. There is a lot of different ways to correctly pick up a baby. My moms doctor when I was born taught her how to hold a newborn.
I was bored and decided to see this since i have a 6 month ol baby cousin. I know how to pick them up and take care of them but i just wanted to see how other people pick them up......
Uhh okay but lucky you I have a little sister but we are 3 years apart so I don’t remember anything from when she was a baby and I want a baby sibling and so does my sister sooo bad they are so cute my mom says she’s too old and she doesn’t feel like taking work off and that 2 is enough :(
Angela was reading a book and she found out the the the the biggest still there and I can't believe it that thing is still there I mean still there and then that was boo and that was boo boo boo boo boo and that was weird boom like what is happening like you're yelling the lady was reading a book and then he just showed up baby cry cry
Thank you, I'm a 10 year old aunt to a beautiful baby girl and I want to make sure I never hurt her.
You're only 10 and you're using RUclips for how tos? That's so cool! Good luck aunty!
I'm an aunt too and I am watching for the same reason! Thanks for the video!

To all the dads watching this,
Yall the champs for participating like this 💫
Watching this as I’m 33 weeks pregnant with my first child and want to be prepared for everything
hows life going now
Good tip I learnt for putting the baby down is to push down on the bed whilst sliding your hand out so the babies head won't tumble(?) off your hand
Thank u!
This is the most chill comment section on RUclips, we probably all had babies when we watched this so everybody is in a good mood lol

Me too bro
nah the way she holds the baby makes me anxious
First time mom learning how to care and support my babygirl 🩷
You support the neck because the baby is still too weak to lift their heavy head.
stressin me out SO MUCH
Eu levei o conceito lírico um pouco longe
OMG 😱 I’m a first parent and I’m doing all wrong. I always catch my daughter by her armpit 😢
Maybe theres other people who came here just to see the cute baby
💗💗💗💗💗‼️
This is actually incorrect, you are supposed to pick up the baby by the side- no need to hold the neck then and most importantly that's how they practice neck muscles
The way you’re saying duh makes me self conscious man, I just wanna be a good aunt 😞😞
First rule for me: find a husband to have a baby with 🤦
That is not how you correctly pick UP and put down A baby. This is old school and wrong
Actually, this is one correct away to hold a baby. There is a lot of different ways to correctly pick up a baby. My moms doctor when I was born taught her how to hold a newborn.
And they taught her the exact same way as this
@@blueberrymuffinwaffles well, you should do some reaserch.
@@mairinja15 I’ve been doing a lot of research and no babies seem bothered by it. It only matters that the baby is secure and comfortable.

I think the beginning of this video is very passive aggressive.
Instructions unclear, dropped the baby.
They didn’t drop her in the video.
