Amen to that, The Great ful Dead will be played and listen too forever for there will never be an end to their perfect, enjoying, relaxing, meditating, story telling, beautiful and music 🎵🎶 I will listen too for the rest of my life and you know I don't think the Lord would mind listening to a little Dead tunes every now and again.
Probably a year or so after his coma in 86. Once he rebooted he came back with an almost youthful vengeance in his playing. Nice to see Carlos without a hat.
I think most of the credit for this incredible rendition is the Bass player Bobby Vega! A legend in his own right.. Jerry is dancing to that sweet sweet Bass groove 🔥🔥🔥
I've seen Jerry and Santana. A guy I guy I grew up with played bass for Carlos for 5 years... David Margen. Fire on the Mountain is one the best. I've seen the G.D. and Garcia 3 or 4 times. Winterland and Oaklandback in 60's 80's and 90's. I love the S.F. Sound ! Peace
@@johnk4437 We probably danced together! 😜 Friend of Phil's here...only time my ex was speechless was meeting badass, sweet Carlos! Those days at our California Dead shows!!!! ❤️ Big hug to you!! ❤️🙂🙂🙂
Love how during the second solo after Carlos played, jerry goes diving for the note and you can see on his face how he's reaching for it and looking at Carlos as if to say, I almost got it and then when he strikes oil, he beams and smiles and looks at carlos as if to say, isnt this great! We got it!
Reminds me of the time I worked as an electrical technician, at Morpheus Lights, who did the stage lighting for the Grateful Dead, Santana, and many others. We got free passes to all the Bay Area shows 🔥 The best job I ever had ❤
Yes. Full music documentary is "World Music in the Schools". First 30 minutes is the school documentary with Baba Olatunji and the second 1 hr. is the benefit music performance in 1987. Thanks for mentioning this.
At least 4 greats Olatunji and Hamza Al Din were masters that the Dead and Santana looked up to, and exposed to their audiences for a reason. Bobby Vega on bass is great too.
his enthusissm ! he likes being up there with all that happenning... Carlos solo ! wish the sound was better ! thanks for sharing this history !!! loved seeing him dancing and smiling.. great rythmn outro... wished the guitars would have riffed over it a bit... phantastic! always loved carlos shows..
Calaveras!!! "Ever So Gently!!". Mardi Gras at the Kaiser, Frost, oh that Ventura Greek, and the Rocks/Telluride with Phil walking around town with Fam. I missed MSG though made it to the Spect. Then one of my favorite places still today, Shoreline. Back to Kaiser, Long Beach. Then that 87 New Years with Jerry Santa & Mickey Spok back stage!! My first show was 12-31-79 and 87 was definitely a favorite of mine. What great energy from them and us. A big virtual hug to you for sharing that amazing energy that year!!
2022 best video now I vote grow together wow the Jerry Garcia and Carlos Santana what a gift 🎁 to witness this 👏celebration for this time and.event they performed at
Tis the best ever !! look at Garcia glow and sway to the carribean sounds they are exuding at full volume just pour me another pina colada and play loud aloha
I remember this show afterwards. I finally made it back to the bus wearing only my shorts and one flip flop. Killer hits that night. Thanks for the tasty jamz 💙⚡♥️
Thanks for posting! Wow, first time hearing this. Yeah, great solo by Carlos after a very Jerry solo or two. The thing that made it all so special for me--Jerry kind of fed off of Carlos; kinda shifted to something harder and more driving for the next solo at around 7:00, while Carlos is totally on fire playing a furious rhythm. It's like they kinda locked in on each other achieved liftoff. Also, I've seen Mickey Look excited but man, he was ecstatic, playing with this rhythm section.
Omg Jerry looks happy and bopping around on this great beat, and Mickey Hart is enjoying this as well, Carlos is great as always , thanks for posting. Anyone know if this is available in cd or record ?
Which came first, Fire on the Mountain or Burning Down the House? Exact same rhythm lines...regardless, this is an excellent set with a lot of energy. The whole stage is moving as one.
That sound will never be lost . I am 65 and I have little Granddaughter,s that Love the sound of the G.D.

Thank you. This is probably the most interesting comment I've received about Jerry.
Hampton shows were just amazing. Watch the Terrapin from night 3 (3/24/87). Never saw Jerry that animated.
I think most of the credit for this incredible rendition is the Bass player Bobby Vega! A legend in his own right.. Jerry is dancing to that sweet sweet Bass groove 🔥🔥🔥
They really brought the dance out of Jerry that night. He couldn't help but move around and shakke his bones for this one. Well played
It was snowing
@@JD-bl5xylol probably
Jerry loved to play with anyone. The Dead gigs were work, punching the clock. These gigs were much more fun.
Petaluma vets building. Benefit for music in the schools. Baba Tundi Ola tunji. I was video EIC for this.

Jerry was stoked to be alive again
This took place on 2/15/87. There is a full hour and a half video of the complete benefit show on RUclips.
