It always amazed me as a kid that the human drinks like water and lemonade healed more health than a dedicated healing item, and cost significantly less.
Actually, I wonder what the best Pokemon would be with equalized stats. Crucial break points would probably mainly be a special attack (or at least something not resisted) before Brock, a good growth rate (unless those are standardized too), and general midgame options. Also, between stab body slam and psychic, being a normal or psychic type would be preferred.
So, I want to suggest something: a comparison run with max stats on a Pidgey, with only its level-up moves. So what this run showed is that max stats on a Pokémon with a truly abysmal moveset is far superior to 0 stats on a Pokémon with a really phenomenal moveset. But I also think that this run doesn't really show just HOW busted max stats would normally be, purely because Weedle is the literal worst possible Pokémon that could potentially complete a run. It would basically be showing just how done dirty Weedle was to show just how much easier it would be with a Pokémon that has a generally bad moveset but still something that isn't outrageously handicapped like Weedle is. Why Pidgey? Because it learns no offensive moves that are not Normal or Flying, with the highest base power being 40 by level up. It would be an absolutely dreary Pokémon to ever attempt minimum battles with normally - but I bet that it would wreck EVERYTHING with max stats, far better than Weedle did. I propose Pidgey rather than something like Caterpie or Magikarp because they are literally impossible on solo runs due to being unable to hit ghosts (unless you did shenanigans with Magikarp), while Pidgey can if it reaches level 28 and learns Wing Attack (which it will do before Rival 4 if Weedle did, since Pidgey is in Medium Slow while Weedle is in Medium Fast). Essentially the idea would be, if Pidgey just utterly annihilates everything in front of it, then you can pretty much guarantee that any Pokémon with access to even one or two good moves or TMs would do as good or better. You basically wouldn't have to run any other Pokémon on it because it's more or less a guarantee that every other Pokémon is either outright impossible on minimum battles or would be even better via having better level-up moves or being able to learn any modestly useful TM.
I like the logic of this. I think there are a couple of cases to check though - Pidgey makes sense for one, but then a Pokemon like Rhyhorn would be another, just to see if the weaknesses to Ice, Water, and Grass prove to be too much in the late game.
The lesson I got here is: holy crud Poison sting is an awful move, especially in gen 1. If you had any other non-nornal move this may have been possible with minimum battles. Oh yeah, but also base stats matter a ton. More so than moveset.

Well Magi Carp with 255 stats is MORE doable then Weedle since Poison sting does CRAP damage even though Magi Carp would be stuck with Tackle as its ONLY ATTACK move since Splash its only OTHER move does nothing at all and both Weedle and Magi Carp can't use ANY HM/TM's at all.
@@veghesther3204 its not, its literaly impossible to beat the game in gen 1 with a magicarp, even if it had stats in the thousands. it only has access to normal attacks, making it completely useless against the forced channelers in the ghost tower. dude isnt even able to beat more than half the game, that alone make it far less useable than weedle. by a LONG shot. even if poison sting is bad, its still a diferent type than normal. allowing it to bypass that.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos, this was really cool! I played this game all the time when it came out as a kid. I just now noticed Brock has rock in his name cause of this… my mind is blown how I’ve never notice that… Even with the best stats with a Weedle, Agatha is still like playing the lottery. Lol
Thanks for checking out the channel! Yeah the type theme name is there for Brock, Misty, and Surge, but unfortunately tails off from there (though there are possible Japanese connections to their typings and less obvious connections in the localizations). Agatha is brutal for sure.
I wonder how Weedle would do if it had it's normal stats, but had access to butterfry's moveset. If it could use all the TMs butterfry can and the same HMs (excluding fly obviously). Weedle is so bad because it has to use the worst move in gen 1, not so much it's bad stats as has been demonstrated here.
The live data feed is accessed directly through the rom by a software called Gamehook (which is no longer publicly available, but Scott's Thoughts recently released PokeByte, which basically does the same thing. As far as the actual data display, that is a custom application that I wrote to translate the raw data of the game and data from the PokeAPI. I haven't released my overlay application publicly at this point.
Here's a challenge I recommend if you can pull it off with a backport: Shuckle only Squidgy managed to backport Shuckle into gen 1, and Curse is a TM in gen 1, so Shuckle might be able to beat the game by itself assuming it gets any moves that hit ghost type Pokemon, but Brock will be a nightmare! 😊😊😊
How can you manually edit the base stats of the Pokemon? I figured that it was the link on the description but that link is dead and when I tried to download it from somewhere else it's not giving me the option to manually edit base stats, just giving me the option to randomize it.
The base stats were edited in a Rom Hack, sorry I didn't include more info in the description. Google pokeyellow and it will get you to the right place.
Here's another challenge I recommend to you as a one off: Pokemon Blue Kaizo, Mewtwo Only. Items allowed in battle once you reach level 100. I do have a full playthrough of that challenge on my channel for a guide for you, but please have the Counter TM for the Champion, I relied on many special drops on the Mewtwo, and I only had special moves, and while I was successful, that is not a good idea! 😢😮😊😊😊
Oh my lord.. I. LOVE. THE WEEDLE LINE! Beedrill has been my favorite Pokèmon for YEARS ever since i even found out about the game series in general. And here you are, making its absolutely adorable might i add, first form, absolutely god-like ((as Weedle should be.)) and destroying the game with it! Absolute cinema. I am so glad i stumbled upon this. I love seeing the Weedle line get appreciation! It may be one of the weakest, but down in my heart, it's the real champion. Long live Godle42069. Long live the king.
Yesss!!!! I agree completely and I used to destroy the Caterpie line with my Weedless, Kakuna, and Beedrill as a child. Still think Beedrill is legit good with Swords Dance and STAB bug moves.
@@RBYPokemonChallenges Can't wait for the day Beedrill gets brought back. And when it does, hopefully they keep some of the moves it could learn from like, the let's go games. ((Like Drill Run and Outrage.)) This line has a special place in my heart for a reason. And I'd love to see that reason be shown off again.
This is how I feel about eevee and jolteon. Maybe not as niche (but I've had a few friends who loved weedle over the years as well). But, every game I've played or fan made game, I always make sure to get a jolteon. And if it's not available, I'll always cheat in an eevee / thunderstone.
@@cheetah219 I can respect that. Out of the original three Eeveelutions I always thought Jolteon was the coolest and would use one if I was ever playing and could. The spark dog fox thing is awesome. 👍
What I'm learning from this is that high stats seem to matter a lot defensively. It seems like the importance of offensive stats scale with how good your moves are. Godlike stats didn't seem to make a huge difference with poison sting, but with struggle it seemed to matter a lot more, but not as much as I really expected it to matter. Seems like with a good enough move after a certain point you'd just always one shot. Not sure what point that would be, though, and we aren't going to find out from this video. Seems like the biggest problem is that struggle's recoil does a percentage of your health, so it doesn't matter how high your stats are, you have a limited number of struggles before you lose.
Basically, yes. Offense is more about move power, whereas defense it more about stats overall. It's because on the damage calcs, the offensive stat is calculated as a ratio over the opponent's defensive stat, so unless the target has a really lower defensive stat, the value of the attacking stat isn't as important. the calc is (2*level* move power/5) *(attacking stat/defensive stats) * type effectiveness * critical, so there are lots of other factors that increase attack power beyond the attacking stat.
Sheesh youre an animal! Im not skilled enough to come up with strategies like this. I just get good enough to beat the champion. I even suck at doing like battle tower and stuff. Subscribe earned my brother

This was a lot more interesting than I expected it to be. I really thought 255 attack would carry Poison Sting a lot harder than it ended up doing. And it still carried pretty hard, I just didn't expect this many roadblocks. Part of me wonders if perfect DVs would have bridged some of the gaps here. I'm thinking yeah, probably, as most of the time all you needed was a few more numbers to make the impossible possible. Move base power matters, way more than I thought it did.
Yeah, I think DVs wouldn't have done anything against Brock and Giovanni since they don't scale that much. But the later fights with Giovanni and Agatha could have been helped by Max DVs and early vitamins...
It seems like teaching a TM would have been a better move for the run's score than doing a bunch of optional battles around Giovanni. Is this against the spirit of the run, or prohibited prior to level 100?
Not sure if you done this challenge, but how OP would Bug/Psychic Venomoth be in RBY? I feel like with its many Psychic attacks, it would make more sense in hindsight.
Didnt Gen 1 have a problem with Criticals being weaker than normal hits when you are overpowered due to a certain thing wrong in the damage formulas for Critical Hits?

"255 BST?? That's probably a buff but it's not gonna do much..."
"Oh. Oh I see now.
You got it!
Don’t know how I got here
But the editing is amazing and love the video so you earn my like and subscribe
That's awesome, thank you!
I like the editing.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos, this was really cool! I played this game all the time when it came out as a kid. I just now noticed Brock has rock in his name cause of this… my mind is blown how I’ve never notice that…
Even with the best stats with a Weedle, Agatha is still like playing the lottery. Lol
Thanks for checking out the channel! Yeah the type theme name is there for Brock, Misty, and Surge, but unfortunately tails off from there (though there are possible Japanese connections to their typings and less obvious connections in the localizations). Agatha is brutal for sure.
Doing some back-of-the-napkin maths, I don't think perfect DVs would have changed much for Godle42069 anyway... A difference of about 20 at level 70?
Yeah, it's exactly 21 points at level 70.
Do you use some sort of API or software to display the pokemon's current stats such as HP, exp etc or do you do them yourself? Looks really cool.
It's a custom script that I wrote, and Gamehook to expose the data directly from the Emulator
Next up, how mind numbingly absurd would a mewtwo with 255 base in everything be (slap 65565 on stat experience in all stats for extra comedic effect)
Truly absurd. But I have other plans for that
I know it's a pain to get a large number of them, but wouldn't Lemonades have been much more cost-efficient than Super Potions or even Hyper Potions?
Yeah, it was certainly a mistake on my part.
I think it would benefit more from Beedrill's set - Swords Dance, Bug STAB, give it Kakuna's Harden and I think we're cooking.
The first thing that comes to mind seeing this thumbnail: 255 speed sounds like a solid crit chance.
Yeah, just short of a 50% crit rate
What is that software called that keeps track of your pokemons and your opponents pokemons stats and updates them real time?
The live data feed is accessed directly through the rom by a software called Gamehook (which is no longer publicly available, but Scott's Thoughts recently released PokeByte, which basically does the same thing. As far as the actual data display, that is a custom application that I wrote to translate the raw data of the game and data from the PokeAPI. I haven't released my overlay application publicly at this point.
Finally, my lore accurate self
You are the legend the anime always made you out to be!
Weedle if game freak knew what they were doing
It’s crazy how movepool is more important than stats you should do a comparison with an average weedle but he can use earthquake lol
Sounds like a fun challenge.
I would have preferred the name "WeedGod" over Godle personnally. Guess that would leave less spaces for funny numbers.
Yeah, I thought about something like that or a play on Bongzilla of some sort, hut really wanted the nicest numbers in the name lol 🤣
With such high base stats I figured this would be an easy run.
Never woulda thought it'd be such a struggle.
Haha, this comment is perfect! 😂
Here's a challenge I recommend if you can pull it off with a backport:
Shuckle only
Squidgy managed to backport Shuckle into gen 1, and Curse is a TM in gen 1, so Shuckle might be able to beat the game by itself assuming it gets any moves that hit ghost type Pokemon, but Brock will be a nightmare! 😊😊😊
Badge boost is gonna be crazy
How can you manually edit the base stats of the Pokemon? I figured that it was the link on the description but that link is dead and when I tried to download it from somewhere else it's not giving me the option to manually edit base stats, just giving me the option to randomize it.
The base stats were edited in a Rom Hack, sorry I didn't include more info in the description. Google pokeyellow and it will get you to the right place.
>Lord dome
DOME?!?
HERETIC
You're almost up to 10k subs!
congrats on 10k subs
Thank you so much 😀
why do you play with animations on?
My visual impairment makes it easier for me to follow the action with animations, since reading text is difficult for me at a normal distance
Here's another challenge I recommend to you as a one off:
Pokemon Blue Kaizo, Mewtwo Only. Items allowed in battle once you reach level 100. I do have a full playthrough of that challenge on my channel for a guide for you, but please have the Counter TM for the Champion, I relied on many special drops on the Mewtwo, and I only had special moves, and while I was successful, that is not a good idea! 😢😮😊😊😊
Yeah, I need to do a Blue Kaizo challenge at some point
@RBYPokemonChallenges that would be so awesome to see! Also, that Elite Four caused me mental anguish. I do not want to discuss that. 🤣🤣🤣
Very interesting, you sir have a new subscriber 👍
Awesome, thank you!
LT Spooge had no chance against Godle42069. Rumor has it he went back to being a garbage man after this fight.
Confirmed
((Like Drill Run and Outrage.))
This line has a special place in my heart for a reason.
45:04 something no man has ever said before.
Making history with this one 😂
What do you use to get all 255 ev? Phex max out at 510 total?
Magic 🪄 And minor rom hacking
Sheesh youre an animal! Im not skilled enough to come up with strategies like this. I just get good enough to beat the champion. I even suck at doing like battle tower and stuff. Subscribe earned my brother
Appreciate the sub! Thanks for hanging out!
@@RBYPokemonChallenges been enjoying all your videos brother! Thank you for replying! Check out mah-dry-bread pokemon runs if you havent already. Hes been a favorite of mine since 2019.
Saiyans' greatest fear
And Misty's greatest fear as well.
It's that Weedle doesn't learn any TMs 😂
@@RBYPokemonChallenges .... Oh right. That would do it.
Not sure if you done this challenge, but how OP would Bug/Psychic Venomoth be in RBY? I feel like with its many Psychic attacks, it would make more sense in hindsight.
Sounds very fun.
I just wanna know what the final stat total would be at 100 and then with full vitamins and everything, show what it means to go even further beyond
We can do this in the next one
@RBYPokemonChallenges awesome! That just sounds cool to see so thanks!
Godle42069 is just three mewtwos in a trench coat
I think you may be right lol
Ah, so Weedle wasn't included in the OG because he was Saiyan training in another dimension and is just now emerging back into Realspace. Got it.
Yeah, he was clearly in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a couple decades to reach this point.
I watched this video about 6 times and still don’t know what happened. Gotta keep watching
Perfect!
Didnt Gen 1 have a problem with Criticals being weaker than normal hits when you are overpowered due to a certain thing wrong in the damage formulas for Critical Hits?
Only when you are using stat modifiers like stat boosting moves on yourself, stat lowering moves on the opponent, or the badge boost glitch
6:34 is there a reason using struggle wasn't a viable option?
No that it wasn't an option, it just would have taken much longer to use up all of the Poison Sting PP before that.
