      When I failed to buy the Tab S8 Ultra (completely failed to get one at a price I could afford, even with deals) I went and bought a 12 inch iPad Pro. I think having it as an option is definitely nice, assuming the storage is fast. It will somewhat degrade storage life span, but it's not going to be significant for the vast majority of users. They just don't have the read/write cycles for it to matter, unless they used truly awful storage.

Odds are it would be used so little that it's fine, but at the same time, I would never make a swap partition on an install that uses a SSD. 8GB should be more than enough memory, the battery would probably be degraded before the SSD goes bad due to swap space usage...maybe, we don't really have concrete numbers on either really. Windows uses a page file instead of swap, but it's basically the same concept. • @justitgstuff5284
      @justitgstuff5284 11 месяцев назад +5

      @@WalnutWarrior7 It's worth noting that the base iPad only supports the first gen pencil, which doesn't have wireless charging or magnetic attachment so it's more of an inconvenience to use, especially on the go. I think the processor is good enough on both of those tablets that it doesn't really matter for most users, and there are higher end tablets on both sides for professional use. Spec-wise the OnePlus tablet has a much better screen (higher refresh also means more responsive for drawing), double the memory, presumably better speakers and I'm assuming cheaper storage upgrades.
      If Apple kept the base iPad at the $330 price point, it would be more competitive and interesting. The current gen iPad seems kinda stupid compared to getting the iPad Air or saving money and getting a cheaper android tablet with similar enough specs.

    No way I'm watching this whole video but I took a look at this tablet a few days ago and the worst thing about it is OnePlus has no officially assumed security updates policy for it (notice I won't even talk about feature updates, aka major Android version updates, I'm just talking about the bare minimum of security updates). There is basically a WHOLE LOT of talk from OnePlus about how they're going to provide up to 5 years of security updates for some devices, bla bla bla bla but there is no clear publicly displayed and assumed policy that tells you exactly when the end-date will be for this tablet receiving regular security updates. This is in contrast to Lenovo or Nokia who have such policies on display for their tablets. So to me, this tablet is DOA. Note OnePlus is not alone in letting you believe whatever you want to believe. It's basically THE RULE that Android tablet manufacturers do all they can to avoid binding themselves to any promises of lengthy support.

      I see what you are saying but even if they advertise "security update" what will stop them from just updating the patch notes and versions numbers to meke it look like they actually did something. My point is whether it's advertised or not you really wouldn't know as a regular user. I prefer to look at the track record of the company when it comes to updates. OP has been fairly consistent, even if you put aside the their infamous OOS/Color OS controversy or the dumpster fire that OOS12 was( and still is). They have kept their word so far on supporting their devices.

    I remember a day when OnePlus was the company that would produce flagship specs for not flagship prices. If it is going to be the same price as a device, may as well get one. Probably get updates longer too.

    128GB storage is... pretty good. But you still need to have expandable storage if you want the device to be an investment instead of a consumable in a few years. Storage adds up for some people. Especially for Gacha game users.

      Lol. Phones start at this amount now. 128 gb for a wannabe premium device is stupid

      @TheStatisticalPizza Год назад

      @@MartijnTVmy guess is that 90% of users never come anywhere near filling 128gb on their phone, the biggest storage consumption is probably video recordings and you likely will be doing none of that on your tablet.
      Most people use these devices to play a few mobile games and consume content - 128gb is plenty for that.

    • @edneddy2
      @edneddy2 Год назад

      @@MartijnTV well 128gb is just the bare minimum these days. But like you said, wannabe premium. In markets within the US, if you want more, you'll have to spend more.

    • @edneddy2
      @edneddy2 Год назад

      @@TheStatisticalPizza for most cases, 128gb is enough to have a functioning phone, check a few emails, and the ability to search the web. But appdata fills up quickly and with formatting and OS storage, that 128gb shrinks pretty quickly to about half. Even google stores a lot of data locally.
      As for the mobile games, it depends on the games. Some apps have a ton of extra content that needs to be downloaded. The 5-10GB cache data that the app store doesn't mention before downloading. All that new and old released content gets saved to your device and you don't notice till your phone says it's running low on storage.

      Gacha games are trash, i only play like 1 or 2 which are good/generous, so 128GB is more than enough
      Barely i seen anyone uses more than 64gb either
