Just upgraded to a 7 from a 4. Surface is an amazing bit of kit. Writing, drawing, watching videos and listening to music, light gaming, and work-related apps all on something that is the size and shape of a thin paper notebook. Really glad it has USB C charging now.
My concern I stop buying surface and my last was pro 4 because even if you don't use it for less than a week you have to recharge it back again, with the pro 7 do you still have this problem, or if you are not using it for a week, it still have some juice on it and you don't have to recharge. Also does it has a fan or not?
Got it October 2020 the i5 256GB and have it still. Not once has it slowed down and lost 19% battery health. Doesn’t scratch to easily, not of looked after. I got mine for 450 due to a deal but no issue spending €1400+ on a newer model especially since this one has lasted near 4 years and still perfect condition.
I have the i7, 16gb ram. Love it , smooth as butter , runs my lab programs without issues. Now let me talk about the built, as he said scratches by looking by it (black one), and I just had to pay for out of warranty repair since it dropped from a foot hight, the whole screen shattered, glass was falling off , however it was working perfectly. I just didn’t like glass falling off by just air breezing through it . The foot drop even bent the frame and I’m not exaggerating when I say a foot of hight . It fell from my bed with the keyboard on. Now it could have been the right corner that it hit . But I’m just going on my exercise, it is fragile as a rose . Love it tho
I get 3 DAYS of use on battery! I own the Surface Pro 7 PLUS! it's amazing. I use mine regularly for video editing, taking notes in OneNote while watching webinars, and researching and typing essays for the clinicals of my degree! I got the i7 version which has a fan for active cooling which rarely turns on anyways. it also has 16 GB of RAM, and the SSD is upgradable to 1 terabyte. There's also a micro-SD card lot which can hold a terabyte of storage as well! overall, this is SO MUCH better, more powerful, and fare more capable than the refurbished Dell inspiron I was using. I originally didn't think that this was going to completely replace my laptop but honestly, I haven't used it since I got the type cover! I bought the one with fingerprint ID because I tend to always look a little different depending on the day whether I have makeup or not, have my hair up or not; rather than always updating face recognition, I prefer to us fingerprint which is just as fast. This has been my introduction to the usability of 2 in 1's and I must say I'll never go back to anything else and why'd it take so long for me to find this!?!?! Anyway, have a wonderful day and thanks for making this video!
Wow thats a lot better battery than on my model. The pro 7 plus has a better battery and also better internal graphics. Thanks for the nice comment and I hope you have a wonderful day too!
@@sherifshady the surface pro 7 plus is definitely better for video editing than the 7 because of the better graphics and faster cpu. But if you want to do video editing i recommend getting at least the i5 8gb ram model. Also, it depends on what you are editing. A simple video will work fine but i edited the whole video on a surface pro 7 (not plus). It definitely sometimes struggled because i applied digital stabilization, added text and multiple layers of 4K video. But if you are editing in 1080p and don't apply too many effects it should work fine. (At least with the editing software i used). But Microsoft doesn't advertise it for video editing and it isn't really meant for it. But the pro 7 plus will get better performance than my pro 7.
I got my for i5 and only 4gb ram. 😂😂😂 But price is good. Took it back to China upgraded to 16gb ram 1 tb ssd and add the fan on it. Now it's super good
Really nice review! Two questions: 1. Is the Surface Pro 7 good for virtual meetings, like Zoom? 2. How long is the battery life, and how long does it take to recharge? (Is it good enough for 4-7 hours of school?) Highly underrated channel, loved the video.
Thanks for the nice comment! 1. Yes. It has a decent microphone and good webcam compared to other laptops. 2. Depends on if you buy it used or not. I get around 4 hours of screen on time, but I bought mine used in pretty poor condition so I think that it's been used a lot. I don't really know how good the charging speed is since I charge mine at night.
I've got sp7 been using for past two years. I'd say it's good, but falls short in some part. Sp7 is ideal for light applications only two to three tabs max. Beyond which it heats up since mine doesn't have a fan it get quite hot. Which kills the ssd over time. Same with battery with just one RUclips video being streamed in edge it has battery of around 3 hours even now. But if I run teams in background it drains under 2 hrs
@@johnsondominic7098 I am tempted to get another Surface pro but if they didn't change much on the design I'll pass. Microsoft really pissed me off with their Surface Pro 4. The Pro 4 battery got swollen. Based on user feedback Microsoft crammed so much hardware in a tiny space with poor thermal heat dissipation, it creates problems and the Pro line will definitely have a short lifespan if you are a power user. Maybe five years if you are lucky. I think I'll save up an just get a Macbook Air M1.
I have the 8 GB of RAM i3 which is overclocked to 4.3 GHz which is insane and 120 gigabytes of storage. Although I don't really care about that cuz they use cloud and external card. I got mine for just under $300 on eBay and is an absolute steal at that price considering that it's performance specs are still very current
Just got my surface pro 9.....looking back at where it all started....what a leap we have made in 10 years....cheers...oh and I got this exact forest green with colour matched type cover and slim pen 2 bundle
Is the surface pro 7 something you would recommend to an engineering student? I need to run 3d modelling software's such as solid works, as well as some coding software's. Also need to use it to take notes on and study. Usually also have multiple tabs open when studying, does it slow down much? I'm currently looking at an i5 8gb ram and 256gb surface pro 7 12.3" *USED*. Thanks!
Hi, 3d modelling is one of a few things that requires really good hardware to run smoothly, so the surface pro 7 is definitely not meant for that at all. It is good for studying. Typing word documents, multiple chrome tabs open in the background. But for advanced 3d modelling I think you probably need a laptop with a dedicated graphics card and at least 16gb of ram. Also one that has a more powerful CPU.
Just bought the LTE I5 iteration. I have an old unlimited high speed internet Verizon account and matching SIM card. High speed internet everywhere on a full OS laptop/ tablet form factor.
Thanks sooo much for the video. Because of this now I know that I can use USB-c for charging this laptop 😅, and just found out too that it has face recognition. Also, I think I got the one with pretty bad battery, because it runs out so fast. Any idea how I can improve the battery? Maybe change the battery component or something? Mine is Pro 7 i5
I don't know how you can remove the battery really easily, however (in windows 10) in the bottom right corner in the taskbar there is a battery icon. If you click that then you can change it from best perfromance to better battery life / battery saver
i have trouble connecting my surface pro 7 to my tv. Tried windows+k and unable to connect. brought a hdmi/USB to connect to my surface pro but no luck :(

If you don't use a lot of layers and / or advanced effects, then I think this is a pretty good option. It's just that it isn't the fastest at this price point. However you do get a touch screen with pen support, and a 2 in 1 design. I am still happy with mine and use it almost every day.
I'm planning to buy this one just for my video editing and school (i will buy the i7 plus model) but just a question i have a Bluetooth keyboard can i use that instead of the type cover keyboard ??
Yes you can it works perfectly fine! Keep in mind that (in my opinion) using the type cover is a much better experience, because you can close it like a real laptop, and the type cover has a touchpad which most BT keyboards dont. But that doesn't mean it is a bad experience without the type cover. I just prefer the type cover over a bluetooth keyboard.
I also have a Mac book Air M2 I use for Mainstage, and Logic X Currently trying to get a Surface Pro 7 from a seller on Mercuri. There's literally no other Tablet that offers a full desktop OS installation like the Windows Surface.
