Just purchased a 2008 Gran Turismo and it’s superb. I don’t impress easily having owned Ferraris, Lambos and many other super cars in my wealthier days. Now in my seventies I was looking for something different but powerful for not too much money. The Gran Turismo fitted the requirements spot on. They are so much car for the money. @@seechim I think the auto is a good/perfectly fine call. It’s like traditional manual vs full auto- if you will drive it all the time then full auto is just better- but if you are only driving it when you are in the mood to really drive- then the manual (or in this case robotic-manual) is more enjoyable. If you get the F1 box then you know you are getting into a $$$ clutch replacement every 25k-40k miles or so
Have a 12 GT, here's a tip. Never block either seat from going all the way back. If you do and it performs a seat check, it will strip the seat motor and your seat will be stuck where it is. Also, do your own minor maintenance like fluid changes etc will save you tons of cash.
Great video, comments are spot on and the reason I bought a 2011 GTS MC Shift too. Purely for the noise along it's worth owning one of these, like you say doing 20mph it still sounds incredable esp in sport with the down shifts. subbed
I've just sold a 2005 CLK55 cabriolet. I wanted a 987 Boxster S but two small children said otherwise. The CLK AMG V8 is more powerful, noisier and all the space in the back. If you can find an AMG CLK, it'll be a good video. My kids eventually got too big and the wife said I wasn't allowed to keep it for a weekend toy. Now I'm looking for a V8 4 door dad car
I called it before Doug. I think the automated manuals like this and the SMG-II in my M3 will become a thing again. Not brilliant for a daily but for your 3rd car they're mechanical. You have to learn and understand them and they are ace!
You nailed it. the automated manual is the true petrol head’s choice. I own 2005 QP manual and 2012 GTS auto. QP is the more engaging and better handling car. I drive it on sport manual mode only and still have the original clutch at 60,000 miles. Both are very reliable
Loved this review. Brilliant thing about this car is the experience at low speed. My Dad car is an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV and you’re at illegal speeds far too easily 😮
I've just picked you up through the JayEmm video. If only I'd found this sooner! After our second I was looking for something for work and zip around in. Because of car seat worries I ended up with a BMW 540 and a Z4 but if I'd known about these options I probably would have combined the dosh and plumped for a single car that could do it all!
Wonderful comparison ! I‘m shame to say, but I own both. Aston DB9, 2004 and Maserati Granturismo S automatic , 2009 (same ZF gearbox). The DB9 is faster, stiffer and the top is lower, more sportscar touch. The Maserati is comfortable, spacious and a design iconic car, but quite more lower on the street - and use min.2litre less fuel as the V12 of DB9! Both sounds are impressive, but I have no favorite one. I have only one son, but a long trip, is only possible with the Maserati. Both cars are not really comparable, the power/torque of the Aston make it to my favorite ! With really family focus - only Maserati
I love your daughters indifference. My kids don’t care about cars, bar my 18 months with an R class which met universal acclaim through the space and ride.

Awesome reviews! Binging all of them ! Same situation as most! I'm looking for a wow dadcar. Yes, you can opt for a panamera or quatroporte, and there are the Rs6 and M8 grandcoupe that are great family cars! But the dadcar is something else! As usual, the price dictates, but a decent 60.000 euro is the sweet spot. Some are over the cut-out price, but.... My shortlist is: For a manual: 1. Evora 400 or GT 2. Mustang GT or Mach 1 3. GR 86 4. 911 S 5. DB 9 Auto: 1. Grandturismo 2. 612 Scaglietti 3. LC500 4. Vanquish
That’s an exciting list! I wouldent rule out an auto DB9, it suits the car well. Evora, Mustang and granturismo are strong options. Got loads more lined up on the channel 👏☺️
I am loving your content, hits the nail right on the head for me, I'm yet to take the plunge into a 2 door GT, I've progressed from a 5 series Bm to a 7 series onto a Panamera Turbo but there are loads of unloved 2 door GT bargains, gotta love the depreciation. Keep it up a well deserved sub from me.
Awesome glad you found the channel Philip 👏 cool list of cars, loads of potentials for you to explore already on the channel and a lot more lined up this year

Got to be one of the best value for looks and sound dad cars about? Did look at one of these when the teenagers wouldn’t fit it the back of the DB9 any more! Great review again 👍
If you loved this car so much but can't get over the trans tunnel then get the quattroporte S with ZF. It's what I have, and i chose it over the gt for the 5th seat. They both sound the same, drive almost the same.
thanks so much for putting together all of this content. I am in the process of selling my Mercedes SL600, a 2 seater pre-kids purchase, with a convertible I can actually drive with the whole family. I have been looking all around and the cabrio version of this I saw in one of your other videos is the ticket!! Can't wait to get one of my own. best, Tom
Own a Maserati GT MC Shift. My second GranTurismo having owned the 4.2 version previously. Ultimate Dad Car. So much bang for the money. Shared Ferrari parts without the price. Put a Scuderia shield on its flanks and it would be selling for 300 percent more.
Oh man that’s horrible to hear… I’d love to do an M5 as I could for 4 across the back and take the wife! Definitely on the list for down the line. Hope it gets sorted for you soon 🙏
Appeals more to me too. Big mistake to drop V8 for a 6 twin turbo the V8 sounds so much better plus everyone always says the sound of V8 is favorite thing about Maserati
Great video Ben, I just subscribed yesterday and already you have reviewed my choice of a 'Dad Car' my Maserati GrandTurismo S (Well to be truthful I also have a GranCabrio S as well) mine are both 2011s bought during the pandemic with 10k and 11k miles a piece. I have 3 kids but 2 are grown and at University. Both cars are ZF autos with paddle shifts, the coupé has oval exhausts but the Cabrio doesn't, just for what it is worth. I love the space in back for my 5'6" daughter. I'm 6'1" and she can happily sit behind me. Also thought I'd throw this info for you, on a 200 mile trip recently cruise set at 80 mph (light traffic so 75-80 mph most of the time) I saw 23 mpg, so if you are just taking it easy, but quick it can be quite frugal for a 4.7 V8. Glorious noise, more than 'fast enough' and a top speed North of 180 mph with super model looks, I think these NA Ferrari built V8s in a Pininfarina drop dead gorgeous body will go up in value over time. Both of mine were 1 owner cars serviced at Ferrari dealerships with ridiculously low mileage. I feel like I stole them, and I'm ok with that b/c I paid asking price on one and just under on the second. Best of luck with your channel. And send the best to your wife and cute kids.
Thanks for the great comment Andy! Wow that’s insane you have both! Cabrio would be awesome to feature one day. I’d also love to try and compare both gearbox’s. 👍
Andy am I right in thinking the cabrio has an even larger rear transmission tunnel separating the two rear seats? If so do you know why? Is it something that could be removed to accommodate a 3 across seat?
@@dadcars Cabrio's trunk is *tiny* but I couldn't make up my mind between the two, so I bought them both! Depreciation was my best friend :-) now I see prices starting to creep upwards... good for me, bad for others unless they buy one soon. Really like your videos so far, keep at it! Cheers.

The gran Turismo is a car that you can drive around at 20, 30, 40 and it sounds and feels like your going a lot faster. No creative editing required it’s brilliant.
So you liked it? Great review and I share your views entirely. Re fuel consumption, the problem is that you will always be tempted to be in sport/mc manual mode...

@@dadcars I regularly drive to see my brother in Cheltenham, but that involves doing a 520 mile round trip. The only car that came close was my Saab 9-5 Aero. The first Saab 9-5's are an awesome car - I was involved in an accident with a 7.5 ton truck and a VW Polo whilst towing our 1 ton folding camper. They had to cut the driver out of the Polo - the police officer attending said that he was lucky to be alive. All 3 emergency services made a comment about how safe the Saab was. Cool channel mate. My V8 vantage was my Dad car, as I could legally place the baby in the front passenger seat, however, I long for a true back seater and have considered these. This car reminds me of the Ferrari Roma. They look like they literally just copied it.
A 2 seater that you can switch the passenger airbag off is a great DadCar if you have only one. I took my youngest to a car show recently in the DadB9 rear facing in the back. The granturismo is an impressive option if true rear seat practicality is required. Nothing sounds better. I’ve lots of over contenders on the channel already to watch and more to come 😎

These cars sound awesome. I love cars that have the ability for drama without going ridiculous speeds. Do you think the running costs would be overall similar to your Aston?
Similar yes, maybe even the gran Turismo being a little more. It seems they have more common things that can go wrong so potential for more frequent maintenance bills. The car featured here is constantly going on massive road trips though so hats off to the owner.
I'm thinking of buying one n this is my kinda review lol practicality and running costs :D also my only running costs will b starter motors cos come on, them cold starts 🤯 only reason to own one 😅
Sure it has 4 seats and unless you are a nordic giant getting back there is not too difficult or uncomfortable but let's be realistic, this is by no means a family oriented gran tourer. The QP is a much better practical saloon for family outings.

Great review, just one question..I’m thinking of buying one & then driving through Europe.I want to take my mountain bike,so do the rear seats fold? I don’t like the idea of taking the wheels off and putting it on the rear seat & I don’t want a back rack..

That seems a good thing to know 🫣… the latest Astons can detect if it’s crushing someone and stops 😅
I guess it's 10 on that does the stop and move forward because my 10 gt does it, good info to look out for
Great video, comments are spot on and the reason I bought a 2011 GTS MC Shift too. Purely for the noise along it's worth owning one of these, like you say doing 20mph it still sounds incredable esp in sport with the down shifts. subbed
Thanks my man and welcome! You have a very cool car 😎
Don’t rule out the Granturismo! It’s very easy getting in the back and it’s massive back there. Otherwise check out my quattroporte video 😊
I called it before Doug. I think the automated manuals like this and the SMG-II in my M3 will become a thing again. Not brilliant for a daily but for your 3rd car they're mechanical. You have to learn and understand them and they are ace!
They are a much more involving auto box for sure 👏
You nailed it. the automated manual is the true petrol head’s choice. I own 2005 QP manual and 2012 GTS auto. QP is the more engaging and better handling car. I drive it on sport manual mode only and still have the original clutch at 60,000 miles. Both are very reliable
Loved this review. Brilliant thing about this car is the experience at low speed. My Dad car is an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV and you’re at illegal speeds far too easily 😮
Oooo! Hope to get an Alfa on the channel at some point. Low speed fun in this is 10/10
I've just picked you up through the JayEmm video. If only I'd found this sooner! After our second I was looking for something for work and zip around in. Because of car seat worries I ended up with a BMW 540 and a Z4 but if I'd known about these options I probably would have combined the dosh and plumped for a single car that could do it all!
That sounds like a fun duo! I often wonder what two car combo I would get if I sold my Aston and got two, including a 2 seater. 👍
Fantastic you’re loving the dream my friend! Huge complement from someone who owns both 👏
I love your daughters indifference. My kids don’t care about cars, bar my 18 months with an R class which met universal acclaim through the space and ride.
Great review, love everything about this car, a true drivers car.
I had my Granturismo reviewed earlier this year by Ross reviews in Perth.
So far your channel ticks all the boxes for exciting GT cars.
Fantastic stuff 👍
Thank you Chris! Got more GTs and some other exciting stuff lined up 😉
Oh this guy is obviously a genius. From now on I shall only watch his vids and take his advice. It is so good of him to share his extraordinary life's knowledge and experience with us. Thank God I found him. I have made sure to tell ALL my friends on social media about this. Great stuff. Keep it up.

Very special cars 👏😎
Awesome reviews! Binging all of them ! Same situation as most! I'm looking for a wow dadcar. Yes, you can opt for a panamera or quatroporte, and there are the Rs6 and M8 grandcoupe that are great family cars! But the dadcar is something else! As usual, the price dictates, but a decent 60.000 euro is the sweet spot. Some are over the cut-out price, but....
My shortlist is:
For a manual:
1. Evora 400 or GT
2. Mustang GT or Mach 1
3. GR 86
4. 911 S
5. DB 9
Auto:
1. Grandturismo
2. 612 Scaglietti
3. LC500
4. Vanquish
That’s an exciting list! I wouldent rule out an auto DB9, it suits the car well. Evora, Mustang and granturismo are strong options. Got loads more lined up on the channel 👏☺️
612 would be very exciting… would love to feature one of those in 2023 😎
I am loving your content, hits the nail right on the head for me, I'm yet to take the plunge into a 2 door GT, I've progressed from a 5 series Bm to a 7 series onto a Panamera Turbo but there are loads of unloved 2 door GT bargains, gotta love the depreciation.
Keep it up a well deserved sub from me.
Awesome glad you found the channel Philip 👏 cool list of cars, loads of potentials for you to explore already on the channel and a lot more lined up this year
I had to subscribe and like, what a great concept of YT channel, love the video, being a dad myself and loving fast sport cars, looking forward to more vids.
Thanks man! You found us at a good time as we’ve done loads of cool cars since this one 😎
I like the name of the channel and can't wait to see it grows!
Thank you Bryan, lots of exciting things to come!
Got to be one of the best value for looks and sound dad cars about? Did look at one of these when the teenagers wouldn’t fit it the back of the DB9 any more! Great review again 👍
I agree Steve! Such an exciting and beautiful car for the money! 👏
Great job. 2015 MC Stradale owner. If you think the Sport button is great, you need to hear the Race button in the MC Stradale 😊
Thanks!! Really want to get a MC stradale and a Sport GTS Quattroporte on the channel 😎
Great video, even do it's not the GT MC. It's a Timeless Masterpiece. The one your reviewing its a GT S.
If you loved this car so much but can't get over the trans tunnel then get the quattroporte S with ZF. It's what I have, and i chose it over the gt for the 5th seat. They both sound the same, drive almost the same.
I did love the 4.2 quattroporte I drove on the channel. They are both contenders 😎
thanks so much for putting together all of this content. I am in the process of selling my Mercedes SL600, a 2 seater pre-kids purchase, with a convertible I can actually drive with the whole family. I have been looking all around and the cabrio version of this I saw in one of your other videos is the ticket!! Can't wait to get one of my own. best, Tom
I’m happy people continue to enjoy these videos 🙌😊
Own a Maserati GT MC Shift. My second GranTurismo having owned the 4.2 version previously. Ultimate Dad Car. So much bang for the money. Shared Ferrari parts without the price. Put a Scuderia shield on its flanks and it would be selling for 300 percent more.
I’ve done a few more Gran Turismo videos since this 👌 they really are special DadCars
Quality! That looked so much fun 🤩 great video Ben. Really enjoying your channel!
Can’t wait for your next car 😉
Found you by watching JayEmm. Love your enthusiasm. I'd offer my e61 M5 as a contender but it was stolen in June and Churchill still haven't settled.
I like rear lights, especially if you tint the reverse lights
Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people do that 👍
Great video have always loved the look of this Maserati and that sound is amazing
They are amazing!
Great video. We do feel the passion you have for the engine and we share your passion! 😊
Love these V8s so much I had to buy one for myself 🙌🥹
@@dadcars The rear transmission tunnels are the same size
@@andybroer651 ok good to know, I thought I saw they had fixed arm rests. Thanks for clarifying 😊
Cheers.
I daily drive mine 2018 gts and it is very roomy w big trunk. I love it and well worth the $
Ooo 2018! Are there any internal upgrades on the later cars?
@@dadcars yes a few.
The front end is different, if you at it head on you can see the difference.
2018-2019 have the same design. These also have back up camera and different infotainment system.
Older models have have the f136u 4.2l v8 with 400hp and the newer have the f136y 4.7l v8 with 445hp
That’s the main differences
Great review and love the passion. One of the cars I absolutely love.
It blew me away! I was ready to say why it’s not a good as my DB9 but forgot all that about as soon as I heard and felt it that’s why I had to put it after the credits!😅

Mpg is something you’d just have to accept going into it 😜

@@dadcars I regularly drive to see my brother in Cheltenham, but that involves doing a 520 mile round trip. The only car that came close was my Saab 9-5 Aero. The first Saab 9-5's are an awesome car - I was involved in an accident with a 7.5 ton truck and a VW Polo whilst towing our 1 ton folding camper. They had to cut the driver out of the Polo - the police officer attending said that he was lucky to be alive. All 3 emergency services made a comment about how safe the Saab was. Myself and my wife and son didn't recieve so much as a bruise, and my car was repaired. Our camper was mangled and written off. They are hard to find nowadays, but are a superlative example of Swedish engineering.

You’re not wrong but my definition of a DadCar is something that’s “just” practical enough 😅 so I’ll always take the mild pain for extra smiles… I’ve done a Quattroporte on the channel as well check it out 😜
