Along with many other German cars, I have had both the 4.2 and currently the 4.7 GTS.. Hand on heart I love the thing. The whole experience is great. Such a beautiful design - It has presence but not it an ostentatious way.. Classy when I arrive at weddings, cool when I go to coffee and cars. Not many cars can pull that dual personality off. Some of the things I like besides the exterior design is obviously the sound, the 4.7 has the sports exhaust with active valves, sounds incredible. Weird but I love the weight distribution, something like 48%F 52%R, allows it to just pivot around you in such a predictable way you wouldn't believe it handles the way it does given it's perceived size. That brings me onto the Skyhook active suspension, its great. Out of sport its supple and rides like a GT, in sport, damping firms up, you notice all the small bumps and undulations in the road and bodyroll is next to none. Sound system is good once you plug in a good Bluetooth 5.0+ receiver as it has a Subwoofer in the parcel shelf that thumps! The 2013 onwards GTS models have 6 pot Brembo brakes up front which give the stopping grunt a car of this power and weight deserves. I also agree with you on the smell. That rich leather smell which you don't really get anymore always get the "Smells expensive in here" comment. The paddles are the best I've ever used, with proper haptic feedback and fixed to the column like they should be in any driver's car. (Although they took away the rubber on the back of the paddle on my newer car which is on the early models like the one in the video- felt nice was a bit disappointed by that) A rarely talked about feature is the buttons on the back of the steering wheel which control the infotainment, genius! (Up, down, select) I wish there was a "Back" though. I didn't buy it for a daily driver so i don't care much about the infotainment system.. It plays music. Job done. The real music is on when I turn the stereo off, get the windows down and open the throttle! The best thing by far though is sheer joy on people's faces after hearing a down shift. Nice review, some points I stand by but some would be solved by having a newer car and some by a better maintained car. I did like the comment about wireless charging though- I don't think my phone even had wireless charging in 2007 when that thing was released 😂 Anyway all the best to any current and future owners of these wonderful cars 🔱❤

So bang on with this review. I just swapped a manual AM Vantage Roadster 2014 for a 2018 Maserati GranTurismo MC. I would like to think two of the prettiest cars of the “modernish” era. I was surprised by the build quality, I was expecting it to be much higher more in the vein of AM and Ferrari. I would say the AM was a far better put together car and felt more “premium” inside. I would also say it’s definitely more reliable. So why did I change. Needed something a little more up to date and wanted more seats that fit humans in. The car since buying it has pretty much been in Maserati more than I’ve had it to drive. All electrical gremlins. So my patience is starting to get a little frayed with it. However, the moment I do drive it, as you say at 20 mins or so, to drive, it’s lovely. The sound, the way the engine revs all of that melts away those issues. I wish the car was 2-300kg’s lighter. I think that would really let it dance a bit. Certainly help with the brakes which can feel a little overexerted sometimes. I said to my dad, if they could put the Maserati power train / running gear in the Aston it would have been awesome! The lazy nature of the AM engine let it down a little but you could fix that with lightweight fly wheels etc but it still wasn’t as rev happy as the Maserati. Hoping to have it back soon so I can actually enjoy the car a bit. Any more issues though I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with it. It’s a shame because it does feel like you’ve got 80% of a Ferrari for used BMW M car money.
Stop taking it to Maserati they don't have a clue what's going on take it to Ferrari they have all the electrical wiring since they built the engine and schematics and they have the tools to fix your issue the first time without costing a arm and leg. I went to Maserati with my 2013 Maserati Granturismo Sport and they said they didn't know what was wrong I took it to Ferrari and they knew what the problem was and didn't over charge me and I haven't had any issues in over a year that I've had the car.
@@maserati0012 it’s under warranty at the moment but that’s something I’ll look into. Not sure if Ferrari will actually look at it here, they’re quite precious & the dealerships are nowhere near each other. The closest Maserati dealership to me is actually also Lambo and Lotus 🤣 we do know a few people at the Ferrari dealership so I’ll ask the question. I also know a specialist for fez and maser, once warranty is done probably take it there.
I've had my GranCabrio for two years. Yes, it needed lots of maintenance (that bloody alternator!) but once up to scratch it's been just fine. That said, it's prudent to have a rainy day fund handy. I keep the beast on a c Tech charger & drive it on sunny days. And driving it is an absolutely amazing experience. On the other hand, my every day runner is a Lexus IS350 LS. Kind of the opposite of the Maserati, a technological tour de force. Also the most practical, safe, bland, nondescript thing I've ever owned. But it's cheap to service! (apologies to all the Lexus lovers out there, but I just can't warm to this car)
A couple of stunning quasi 2+2 alternatives at sub 100K? How 'bout Jaguar XK8/XKR; Aston Martin DB9? Great video again Adam and Jim. Or you can combine your purchase price and rainy day fund and squeeze into a Lexus LC. Or what about a BMW M6 F12? The rear seats may even be useful! Great video again Adam and Jim.
In my opinion, the GTS is & has, always been the most beautiful car ever made, I would put up with minor electrical issues, every car suffers them eventually, great review 👍
Ha, seems just like my old Alfa GTV's, but so, so, so, much more sensual. One used to park up next to me when I was fortunate enough to own a 911RS. My breath would fog the windows. So yes, given half a chance I'd buy one for the dolce vita days.
Until January in U.K. I ran a 2019 Granturismo MC for 28.000 miles, absolutely no issues, Screen was ok with Apple Car play, engine was magnificent, I was fortunate to have the car as part of an outstanding company debt so it translated into a great price..I lost £10k over four years.. underrated but buy as late a model as possible and prepare to open your wallet it can’t be run on a budget.
I've got a 2012. The sound is orgasmic. And in my biased opinion, the best looking car on the road. Just suppress all the fear of it breaking. Bury that shit deep down inside.
Overall, all the more sophisticated the vehicle, the more reliant the car is on battery condition.(this appears to be the case in so many of them) So, conditionally, leave the car on a trickle charger, or get a high-end battery and keep an eye on the regulator and charging circuit. So many of the regular gremlins are resolved via this method, it appears to me.
Yes, I've thought of swapping out the head unit on my '14, but that controls some of the settings used by the ECU. I am really reluctant to install something with home brewed Android software, which is what most aftermarket upgrades are, and connecting it to the cars computer. Nothing is worse than electrical gremlins.
i owned a QP for 7y (nightmare) - i went through 3x suspension (upper/lower ball joints + bushings + upper/lower a-arms) for the front, and the steering rack went out $4000, and this thing ate tires every 12m!!! both winder regulators broke on the front 2 doors...
Yeh, expensive euro 'dream' cars are to be rented and driven for a day. You can even hire them at a track and do a few laps. Owning one is just a nightmare.
the 'what's it like to drive' segment was so funny I laughed out loud. This is when you start watching these reviews not only for the cars themselves but for Adam too. Honestly it is accurate to say that the Maserati sounds like that girl who's beautiful but high maintenance.
17,10,24 Love our Laurante, Chrysler diesel 204 kilowatts, beautiful luxury, just keep tyre pressure at tyre makers recomended number, not Maserati. 9.5 out of ten. All our trips are 1000 kilometres.
Surely the Mazza GT to get is the series one 3200GT with the boomerang rear lights. Just a lot nicer to look at, much more analogue, twin turbo V8 with a conventional auto or manual. And plenty of parts shared with other Fiat/Alfa products of the era so much less expensive to repair/replace. Plus they are now available for under $35k. But the series one is the only choice - the rear cluster on the S2 looks like a DIY restyle using bits off a 280ZX.
Drove a Ghibli before(not mine luckily), I have to admit the V6 V8 sound good, and, the pros end there ;-) Can't believe the interior is for Maserati... Feels like Jeep or Chrysler... When things go wrong, owners may need to pay Maserati tax for the same Jeep/Chrysler parts ;-)

When you mentioned electrical gremlins...first thing that came to mind...change the battery.
I've been so missing full reviews that include ashtray placement, yes it indeed has it all😁
Commenting to support the ReDriven boys because they entertain me when I work from home 🤝
I would sooooo be happy if you would review a SAAB. Any of them!
The best video on the problems. Well. Done
Couldnt get your wipertech code to work for their NZ site - but emailed to let them know I found them through you anyhow. Cheers lads.
Jim getting in early for black history month. **beep**
I love these so much, but am not stupid enough to put myself through the heartache of ownership!
This used to be one of my dream cars. Have to say that the tail lights haven’t aged very well but the rest of it looks timeless.
Ferrari designed the engine but never designed to be repaired
Until January in U.K. I ran a 2019 Granturismo MC for 28.000 miles, absolutely no issues, Screen was ok with Apple Car play, engine was magnificent, I was fortunate to have the car as part of an outstanding company debt so it translated into a great price..I lost £10k over four years.. underrated but buy as late a model as possible and prepare to open your wallet it can’t be run on a budget.
Been waiting for this one, seen so many come into the habib price range.
That vibration is bushes that need replacing , Jim told him the price and he said “come again, because I can’t”
I've got a 2012. The sound is orgasmic. And in my biased opinion, the best looking car on the road. Just suppress all the fear of it breaking. Bury that shit deep down inside.
Everything. I will stick to my Camry . No hybrid , no EV, no turbo
It's beutiful , and sounds amazing , it's a musical instrument , no movement needed.
This is how you save on repair cost and insurance easy.
I totally agree! Outside very nice (including sound), inside nah...
ZF 6sp is the best gear box, these 4.2/4.7 engine doesn’t have any major problem but they do have many electrical ac and switches problems
Best to rent one for the XP.
Thanks so much mate! - AK
Jim needs a new battery in his workshops security system. That noise would drive me nuts 🔩
A 5th gen Quattroporte down the road would be a good review. "Interesting" interiors in those things too.
17,10,24 Love our Laurante, Chrysler diesel 204 kilowatts, beautiful luxury, just keep tyre pressure at tyre makers recomended number, not Maserati. 9.5 out of ten. All our trips are 1000 kilometres.
Nice watch! Is it an Erebus Origin????? 👀
Was that giorgio armani on your wallpaper? 😂😂
Well spotted. - AK
@@ReDriven as someone living in Italy, that was quite an easy spot, you are a legend man, keep up the good work!
Like the man said, so much depends on having a really healthy battery.
The question should be "what doesn't go wrong?" It's Italian after all...😅😅
Nice HR-V in the wiper test BTW.
Better buy Corvette/Viper if you search for a weekend RWD car.
would love to see a video featuring the gen 3 v70 range from volvo !!
Amazing job making this only 26 minutes long! 😂
Lol😂
Drove a Ghibli before(not mine luckily), I have to admit the V6 V8 sound good, and, the pros end there ;-) Can't believe the interior is for Maserati... Feels like Jeep or Chrysler...
When things go wrong, owners may need to pay Maserati tax for the same Jeep/Chrysler parts ;-)
their one car considered the workhorse in other countries but the sales man best looker in japan...The Toyota Probox/Succed..
Please do a review of this...I wanna see your take on this
18:45 saved you! Maserati were very close to dispatching someone to ah ....take care of that thing
Still got to change the battery in the smoke detector/alarm Jim....
Jim make sure you take care of that ceiling bird
You guys should do a ZC33S Swift Sport review. It's been out for a while and might be getting a new model
Before even watching 1 second:
"This'll be a laugh......"
Seems like Italian convertibles always have issues with leaking tops and German convertibles always have issues with hydraulic fluid leaking
Same price range I'd go for are f80 m3 more handing dynamics and far more tuning potential
Reminds me of my (current vehicle) diesel captiva - but sexy as hell...
❤ ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, the Italian GT Vibrator, GranTurismo.!!!😮
Ok done! I'm never buying one😢....thanks for helping making my mind
Better to get a used Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio if you want that Italian sound, and a better interior.
