Car wizard bought his wife a Levante. He said it's extremely reliable. He's a master mechanic. I'd take his word over this guy any day. Also the GT has nothing to do with Chrysler. It's it's own and takes nothing from Fiat/Chrysler. That comes much later when the Ghibli, Levante and modern Quadraporte came along. All he has to do is talk with people who actually own these and he would probably have a different video. They are very reliable. They have a ZF transmission that rarely has issues. The engine is very reliable and has been around forever. Yeah the electronics are outdated and if your battery gets low it looks like a Christmas tree on your dash. Look up common sensor and electric issues on these and most of the time it's a bad battery. Parts are very expensive. Car is the cost of a old used bmw/Mercedes but parts are the cost of Ferrari. If something does break, it really sucks. A little more research would have gone a long way in this video. It's very misleading.

You are not lying. Someone did not do their homework. I have been a fan of this channel until now. I have 2012 Maserati Gran Turismo S with 48k miles on it and I have not had a single problem out out of the car. They are not expensive to own if are mechinacially inclined and work on them yourself. They are not hard to work on at all. I have the service manual Maserati techs use. sure if you go straight to Maserati for everything you are going to spend some money but you with this magically thing called Google you can get the OEM parts yourself and less than the stealership. Dude just lost his credibility with me. I know plenty of other GT owners that have never had a problem with their car either. Yea the F1 transmission is big bucks and high maintenance but the ZF transmission is smooth sailing. Do not neglect maintenance and this car will never let you down and is a blast to drive.

Your analysis is spot on. I own a 2012 Granturismo MC Sportline and have daily driven it for the last year and a half and have had literally had ZERO issues (outside of normal maintenance). It's funny that you mentioned the Christmas tree thing due to the battery...this just happened to me recently and scared the hell out of me. I live in Florida so batteries generally last around 4 years in the heat. The original 12 year old battery just finally now is in need of replacement. I'm due for new front brake pads (32k miles). To me this is all normal given the age and mileage. You’re also correct about the ZF transmission. It may not shift like a GT3 Porsche but is very dependable. Anyone that complains about the tranny is referring to the F1 transmission that was only in a select few. I would never compare the reliability to a Toyota or Honda, but that's to be expected given what it is. Sure insurance is insanely expensive and repair/maintenance costs are sky high...but I got a $160k car for $32k with 23k miles. I'll take it.

Your ANECDOTAL experience, doesn’t make it true for Maserati cars as a whole. A reliable Maserati is the exception, not the rule. It’s why Maserati was ranked dead last in reliability. Stereotypes exist for a reason, they aren’t just born out of nothing.

Body by pininfarina, power by Ferrari with a 4.7L (yes it was enlarged by 2010) cross plane V8 beauty. Have experienced some headaches in first few years if ownership. All fixed under warranty.
One thing I’ll say and it’s not meant to throw shade. But this is a premium luxury automobile. It needs to be kept serviced like any Ferrari would. That means the buyer can’t be a wannabe owner. They have to Have the money for ownership. A lot of Examples get bought and then just left without service appointments. Two electrical issues but zero power train problems. Transmission is a crappy ZF 6 speed but for the times (2010) the sport mode and flappy paddle Shifters sends glorious exhaust notes through my neighborhood

I fail to Understand your comment. It was a brand new model in 2010 and I was happy to have the first cabriolet in Vancouver. Still drive it on the weekends. I think it’s a great car. I’m simply stating that a car of this marques requires maintenance as any car from a similar brand of heritage (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren) requires. Since the vehicle
Is out of warranty I have it serviced by my private mechanic and not the dealership. Oil changes through the dealership are expensive because it has an 11L sump. The markup on oil is massive. So I use my motul connection and supply the oil to the mechanic. I pay them Their labour (which is half the hourly rate) and I’m on my way.

Lol. I own a 2009 Maserati GranTurismo Sport, 4.7L; a 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S; and a 2020 BMW M5 Competition. What did these cost? The Maserati was $30K, had 32K miles on it. The Porsche was $207K, had 10k miles on it. The M5 was $100K, had 12K miles on it. Which car sounds best? Maserati, by FAR. Which car looks the best. Maserati, by FAR. Which car gets the MOST attention when I drive it? Maserati, by FAR. Which car do I absolutely love driving most? The Maserati, by FAR. While the Porsche and the M5 generally blow away most anything on the road, performance wise, they simply do NOT compare to the driving experience and pure joy and attention I get when I drive my CHEAP 2009 Maserati. It's a fantastic experience, and it is a great, CHEAP, introduction to the super car world. So I highly disagree with this yahoo and his mostly uninformed nonsense comments. I have owned 3 Maseratis. The first one a 2007 Quattroporte (bought used with only 1,2000 miles for $67K) after warranty was over it cost around $10K a year to keep on the road which means around $1 a mile to drive before gas and insurance. Well worth it back then because it was an awesome ride and my boss was paying for it all. All handmade and stuff would fail all the time. Second one was the newer Quattroporte, way better car overall. However more mass produced interior was not good. Cheaper leathers, and cheaper feel, but a better engine and drive. Last was the Levante - The best out of them all. However with all that Maserati falls short in its price range and dealers suck. They lie to owners and wanted to charge people $4200 for a break change in 2013, I laughed at the guy. Ghibli owners were getting ripped off around $3K, my Levante last time I did the breaks was $1200. So someone must have told them stop ripping customers off. The repair people are all crooks. They know it should not cost that much so be careful and find an independent shop as a backup. Overall no innovation, engines could be better now, and stale designs. Buy one used but don't drive it as a daily, just for fun. Don't over pay either, the prices will never go up - only down.

Mine has been reliable and I have about 75,000m on it now. No major issues. Servicing is pricey due to the cost of parts. Yes, the infotainment unit is low class but that has been changed. The Q5 did NOT come out in 2008 as noted in the video but earlier, with the duo select system and the ZF in 2007. No issue with interior apart from the stickies (also an issue with Rolls, other brands and my Sigma camera lenses from the same era... it was an issue with the rubber coating used widely at that time). the problem is any association with Chrysler, aka, the "automotive kiss of death" and Stellantis, which would rather cheap out on parts to pump up revenue and justify a 30 million salary for the head stooge.

This video has so many factual errors it's almost unwatchable. Why are used Ferrari prices so high compared to Maserati? Because Ferrari limit production numbers to keep demand high on the used market, and the marque's value is heavily guarded by them. Maserati were under the wing of Ferrari and Luca Di Montezemolo when the Gran Turismo was developed; Chrysler were still married with Daimler-Benz in the early 2000s until Mercedes saw the light! Only later generation Maseratis used FCA parts, the Quattroporte V and early GranTurismo models shared more DNA with Ferrari (including the sticky buttons...). As for depreciation, try looking at the late 1990s Mercedes CL coupe. These were 100k cars back then, yet here in the UK you could pick one up for as little as 2500 after less than 15 years - I know because I did. These were the tank-like C140 (W140) models, now regarded as the last of the over-engineered Mercedes and (other than the engine wiring loom) they were built to last, yet depreciated massively.

I see people driving a Maserati GT and I automatically assume someone's rich parents died and they spent the money on a terrible car. I also assume they aren't that intelligent. Any cursory glance as reviews and they'd get a glimpse of the issues plaguing the car, to then buy it when there are so many better choices means they are stupid. It's like people who buy new Jeep Rubicons for 100K.

Maserati has been making cars for around 110 years, so they certainly know how to survive. ALL car companies are taking a hit too btw and *all* luxury cars have been well known to depreciate heavily yet somehow people *still* appreciate owning and driving them.
    So what's your point?
This video tells me you're an instigator that doesn't know💩from peanut butter about the Maserati Granturismo without you actually admitting it... Jog on, Skippy!

From a guy sporting a pink microphone and doesn’t know the difference between a plural form and possessive form in the title. Flunked out of high school English? LMGDMFAO
