I love using carrot tops for pesto! Can get expensive depending on type of nuts you use but if I get carrots with tops I try to work in a pesto and make use of it. It kinda tastes like parsley (which I also use to make pesto cuz who ever uses an entire bunch for a recipe?!)
I need to try a pesto! I saved the carrot ends in the fridge for a few days than threw them into the freezer for broth but what an awesome idea!!! Usually my carrots come without tops so I was thinking I could use them but never went back to them!

I love Whole Foods, I am on the east coast and have found the prices are much better at Whole Foods than other grocery stores, for beans, produce, oats. I have seen quite a few different gluten free breads at WF, they are in the frozen section at my WF. Love all your meal ideas! Love the simplicity!
I agree! No one believes me when I tell them produce is cheaper at WF. Avocados are so cheap and the only cheaper place I have found them is food market stands in NYC. Pasta, some snacks, and some specialty items are cheaper.
Great video! I'm impressed that you got all that food from Whole Foods for only $25. If the Ener-G was the only gluten free bread you could find, you may want to check the refrigerator/freezer section for a brand called Udi's. I'm not gluten free, but have a family member who is, and that's the kind she gets.
I have been trying to switch over to gluten free items to see how my body does. I found gluten free pasta at Dollar Tree. I was really happy. I am trying to eat gluten free for a month or longer to see how my body feels. Thanks for the video. Stay safe!!
It can be very challenging I’ve definitely cut back on a lot of my “normal” foods -- sauces, pre packages bar, etc because I find it much easier to rely on pasta, rice, bread and potatoes for my starches!
Yum! I love this pasta idea. One thing I love about your channel is you make your own sauce. Your pizza marinara is our go to, even in spaghetti. It's so good.
Your videos are awesome! I have MS and can’t run like you but meal prep is a challenge for me! So when you do meal prep for the week that’s super helpful for me 😉🇨🇦👍🏼 Thank you very much!🌱💚🌱💚🇨🇦😉👍🏼🌱💚🌱
You can always cook all your rice for the week and put in single serving containers and freeze. It take very little time to thaw in microwave or just on the counter.
I recently started cutting out gluten too, I don't have any major symptoms of intolerance or celiac or anything but I'm definitely sensitive to gluten, and cutting it out makes me feel so much better, more clear headed, and less like chronic pain and soreness. I think you're doing a great job with gluten free options! For myself I start by trying to mainly choose foods that are naturally gluten free anyway, like rice and (gluten free) oats, as opposed to stocking up on gluten free replacement products. I definitely get gluten free pasta from Aldi though, and a gluten free bread from Target sometimes (I can't remember what brand at the moment). I find the best tasting gluten free pastas combine at least two grains, like quinoa and rice, or corn and rice like you found. Gluten free pasta that's just brown rice based for example, to me doesn't have the nicest texture and flavor. Another thing I've gotten a little obsessed with lately is corn tortillas! Most are gluten free but I did find specifically gluten free corn tortillas for a great price at Walmart, and they make great tacos, tostadas, and chips when toasted up in the air fryer--yum!! Being WFPB already is really helpful as well because so many packaged products contain gluten and there's a list a mile long of what they can call gluten on the packaging, so it's very difficult to avoid! Thanks for the video and I'm so excited to see the dinner idea video coming up!!!
I need to find a good corn tortilla that I like so I can try some new recipes! I’ve always been a flour tortilla person and the ones I have are “ok” but they are not great!🧡🤣
@@flourishingmiranda I found a designated gluten free white corn tortilla by Mission at my Walmart, and it's an 80ct package that was under $3, it was like $2.80 something which I thought was fabulous! I live in NY so I'm not sure about prices other places but I thought that was so cheap! They are vegan friendly/no lard and actually only 0.5g of fat per tortilla so very low fat, and they taste really good to me!! I've always had to have corn tortillas warm or cooked tho, like right out of the package they're not too good to me In a perfect world I would make my own homemade corn tortillas, but for convenience's sake these are pretty good!
@@kirstenredfield8216 I’m all for convenience! Time is still money and it might save you a little but if it’s not worth the effort or time I’d rather just buy them!!

As long as you are refrigerating your rice as soon as it cools, and reheating it thoroughly, you should be okay. You can also refrigerate a few day's servings, and freeze the rest to eat later in the week.
I know someone below already recommended to do pesto out of the carrot greens, but you can also put them into salads, or sautee them with garlic like you would spinach as a side dish! They kinda taste a bit "peppery" to me, not sure how else to explain it, but it is such a different taste and I really enjoy it once in a while.

If this had been me, then I would buy a bottle of sriracha or hot sauce. There is no way I am going to eat lightly sauced pasta with boiled zucchini. The rice and vegetables are okay. The peanut butter and banana sandwich is okay too. But man, everything is so light.

My Whole Foods has a lot of their gluten free breads in their freezer section and has canyon bake house there but I notice a lot of them have egg in it as well. Not a lot that are vegan. Schur brand gluten free bread is vegan I believe.
I find that too so I do always check to make sure the allergy alerts are on the package! No dairy, no egg, no soy etc! And thank you I never checked the freezer section!!! Thats where they’re hiding!
@@flourishingmiranda and I never heard about the rice issue. Maybe make ahead of time and freeze it. That’s what I do. You can buy frozen rice from Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s too that takes no time at all to reheat.
Do you find that foods with gluten, such as bread or pasta, make it hard to lose fat or weight? I'm vegan but have a hard time moving the scale and I do eat gluten products.
No I actually lost weight when I first swapped to GF- so I just make sure I’m eating enough for my activity level! I don’t weigh myself but I could tell my clothes were loser from dropping inflammation. GF isn’t much higher calories than normal conventional products! 🧡 I’m not a weight loss professional so I don’t give advice but often if you’re trying to lose weight and you’re not having success it usually just means you’re eating too many calories than your body is using

There are actually blurry lines with rice. I dug into it because yes because cooling your food properly for storing is always important but rice has to be reheated specifically too. I’m just sharing what I read / was told. Everyone can pick or choice what is best for them ☺️
@@flourishingmiranda absolutely! I quoting direct from govt websites, health dept, and proper food handling techniques. ..not just blogs... we see alot of the 2 days because most people will plop it in a big deep bowl and cover it... vs spreading it thin on a plate or tray uncovered for 20 min before placing it in a dish for storage... this is a specific area I have a college degree in! Soups and sauces etc should all be chilled the same way... but many will just put the pot of chili in the fridge and call it good! Love your content! And how to eat without spending "whole paycheck" as we call it! Lol
@@jujube2407 so let me ask you -- this bacteria that grows on rice - if it’s cooked properly (I leave my own to cool fully than usually put it into meal prep containers) -- is the bacteria still there essentially or have I killed it?
@@flourishingmiranda it's actually spores...not bacteria... the issue becomes if not cooled properly... they can multiply out of order much faster. I like to say it kinda like this... in the us we tell pregnant women to not eat sushi... because it's "dangerous" guess what the pregnant mothers in China, Japan, etc consume? The issue becomes a problem when the raw fish is old or improperly stored... same thing... when I lived in hawaii all the Dr's would tell us do not eat here here or here... but go ahead have the sushi, sashimi, poke bowls, lomi lomi salmon etc... proper storage is key to alot

I’m not much of a pasta person (don’t judge me). But when I do eat it I love Trader Joe’s black bean or red lentil pastas. I’m not a fan of the rice or corn or even quinoa pasta because they have more grainy mouth feel. The bean pastas have the best mouth feel to me. Plus-good protein.
I love whole foods and frankly if you shop smartly you are not spending much more. The issue is the type of foods people buy. I grew in Caribbean home and my mum never bought processed foods so I don't have a taste for them and like my own cooking. Having said that I see so many people buying utter crap and spending a fortune. Hence the obesity and health issues Americans have. I've seen carts full of frozen processed meals, awful full of sugar and no nutrition cereals , potato chips etc. Yet they will balk at buying better foods. Also rice, beans, a chicken, greens go a long way if you know how to cook.
I agree with you 🧡 I am WFPB but recently went gluten free so I do find trying new gluten free breads or pasta to be fun but we don’t eat much processed foods. I find potatoes rice and veggies to be the staples of our diets. Unfortunately I do feel like Americans taste buds are warped from their eating habits.
We are also not prime members we also shop at whole foods... the guy that works the register the other day put in the prime number for me. We spent $240 on our food and we got a dollar 50 off from being a prime member... I say not worth it at all

My favorite Gluten Free pasta brand is Tinkyada. I love that your grocery challenge videos always have a good amount of food. Maybe I eat more than most but I usually watch those kinds of videos and think "I'd need way more food!". LOL! I don't think the pasta dish you made in this video would last for 5 meals for me but I think there would be enough of the beans and rice to tide me over. Thanks for sharing!
I think one of my biggest learning curves of all of youtube is that we all have different appetites and that for me ebbs and flows! I just go with whatever is needed each day and I’m thankful if I need more I have the means to purchase more!
Love the new into!
Thank you!🧡
You put a lot of effort in that video. Is that 5 days of food, breakfast, lunch and dinner? It looks like just breakfst and dinner.I love almond butter but a large container could be $6.00 or more.I want to go back to whole food and see how little I can spend.I know some people call it "Whole Paycheck"
Yes breakfast lunch and dinner ☺️
I wasn't a believer until I watched the complete video. Touche
how many grams are in those tweeny lil pasta bags please? ive never seen bags of pasta so small and cute! or should i say smol!? lol. PS...is it unique to gluten free bread or does all bread have double packaging on the loaves in USA?
I have no idea I didn't purchase them
Did you check the refrigerated sections or gf bread?
I didn’t!! I will next time!
Love this video. I just bought some regular bananas at my Walmart here in north Texas and they were 50 cents a pound. They were higher last week so I never know for sure what they will be on any given day🤣
Edited to say I’m not an Amazon Prime member either. Can’t afford that!
Omg can we be best friends?! I don’t know many non prime members there’s a few here that have chimed in telling me they aren’t either! I’m with you - I don’t need bathing that badly to pay to have it faster
I loved this video!!!!
Thank you!
If this had been me, then I would buy a bottle of sriracha or hot sauce. There is no way I am going to eat lightly sauced pasta with boiled zucchini.
The rice and vegetables are okay.
The peanut butter and banana sandwich is okay too.
But man, everything is so light.
You do realize that not EVERYONE eats like me and not EVERYONE eats like you right? This is simply for ideas to stir up your own creativity. You like what you like and I like what I like.
Whoa whoa whoa. Excuse me ma'am, you don't control pricing at stores?!?!? *insert grumpy new englander sound* haha! Always fun joining you for these challenges! Well done!
🤣😭😭😭I’m dying! Yeah who knew a little youtuber on the west coast didn’t have control over the worlds grocery prices?!🤪 fast news today my friend! Hugs!!
@@flourishingmiranda I laugh that my favorite youtubers even need to make such statements. The responses can be so funny!
Wish I had Smith and Winco
OMG! I love pinto beans and never thought of adding them to a veggie stew!!! My next project !
They’re so good Norma!
Yes! I’ve gotten TJs frozen rice before - I should definitely make it ahead and freeze it from now on! Saves lots of time!
🧡 I’m not a weight loss professional so I don’t give advice but often if you’re trying to lose weight and you’re not having success it usually just means you’re eating too many calories than your body is using
Oh, no… What happened to your toaster? (I haven’t seen anything about it)I loved this video! Planning on making the soup! Thank you! Always so happy when you post! Lol can opener as old as you.😄
Well we still have one per say but when I went gluten free I stopped using it because of the cross contamination
The rice thing...IS ONLY AN ISSUE IF YOU DONT CHILL IT PROPERLY... correct food storage and handling...5 days old is fine 🙂
@@jujube2407 thank you! 🧡 I actually really appreciate you explaining that because you’re right the internet is full of everything and it makes me glad to know that my cooling of my items is correct and also helpful
We really enjoy the schar brand of bread/crackers/snacks
I need to look for this brand!
@@flourishingmiranda our kroger has some and walmart actually has a bunch of their products (we live in nashville though just for reference)
@@jenniferbeeman3737 I’ll check our Kroger co!! I have to pop in there tomorrow for some detergent thank you!!!
@@flourishingmiranda goodluck!
I so love zucchini too!! Ty for the inspirations for meals! 😉💗
Zucchini is wonderful 🥰😍
I like lots of sauce (cheesy) on potatoes, and I like saucy (sort of) rice, but I don't like a lot of sauce on my pasta....unless it's supposed to be soup! Lol!
Yes same Betty!! We are one and the same there!!
@@flourishingmiranda 😎
Yes always toast gluten free bread 🍞 It makes the texture better 😋 😉 Have you found a yummy easy DIY gluten free bread recipe? I'm always on a look out for better ones 🧡
I'm just curious, since you've gone gluten free, have you been feeling better. My Dr advised me to do it, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. I'm scared I won't be able to stick with it.
SO MUCH BETTER! I cant even believe it! No inflammation, no extreme bloating for days, my gut is happy and thriving! All the things!🧡
Why not do an elimination diet (eating plan) first. Then as you add foods back in, you'll be able to identify your triggers.
@@Mrrngglory3043 because I had blood work done and am working with a professional ☺️
Hello. I lik your meals. But a you use different veggies? There are soooo many different veggies to cook. You can stir fry then, make them into different salads, bake them and make veggie bowls with rice, pasta, quinoa, etc. the stews and soups are good, but wouldn’t you like a change? Just a suggestion
I eat what I love and am happy with. Sure there’s tons of veggies but I like what I like 🥰
Call me ignorant, but what is WFPB?
That’s not ignorant it’s a great question! WFPB- whole food plant based ❤️
Thanks so much!
Most of the gluten free breads are frozen at Whole Foods in my area in case you didn’t look in that section.
I didn’t but thank you!! Next time I know where to go!
MiRanda next time try using the carrot tops for a pesto sauce for pasta! Really good 😊
Ohhhh so smart!!! I kept them in my fridge for a few days and thought what could I use them for and ended up throwing them into the freezer for broth!
@@flourishingmiranda glad they didn’t go to waste ❤️
Yes I love carrot top pesto! We make it with radish greens too,
Our whole foods here has 365 gluten free bread I got some today
I need to find it!
Haha! I thought I was the only one that doesn't have Prime! How much was the GF bread? It's like $5-6+ at my local store.
Same $5.99 but I can get canyon bakery with a coupon for $4 at Albertsons!
I am gluten free. I need help. I had a stroke and husband is working and taking care of us. If you have any ideas for us please help me. Gluten free eatting is hard on a budget.
It is hard but my best tips -- buy potatoes, rice and starches that are cheaper 🧡 I have so many wonderful budget meal ideas here that don’t have gluten free breads or pastas! 🧡 if you check my playlists with potato recipes you’ll see so many good ideas!
WF has several different gluten free breads in the freezer section 🧡
Yes it looks like I need to go back and make a check in the freezer section!
Miranda are not allergic to bananas I just do not like them to me they just taste gross the only way I will eat them is in banana bread or banana pudding I don’t know why but I’ve never really cared for them. But that’s how much does look good though
Does canyon have eggs in it?? I love it too but I think it has eggs… please let me know which kind you get ❤️💋
I actually looked and MISPOKE -- what I have at home isn’t canyon bakery! I’ll remind myself to post a photo on my community post this week!
Love love love your videos! Here in Texas, we can get bananas for 45 cents a pound at HEB - after being 44 a pound for years :)
Oh that’s amazing!!! Bananas are truly the best fruit!
Rice last only for two days?????
There is SO MUCH info on the internet the safest rice storage is two days, warmed only once! It has a bacteria on it that grows.
I have been absent from your videos for a while. Did you share the reason why you went gluten free? Just curious.
I did a few videos back, you can check it out if You’d like! It’s the what I eat in a day gluten free 🧡 I have had stomach issues my whole life and it became more apparent when I went WFPB. I spoke with an RD and had a few tests ran and I am gluten intolerant. It’s fairly common now a days so I just swapped for different ingredients ☺️
@@flourishingmiranda I'm glad you figured out what was wrong and that you are feeling better now eating gluten free.
how is the gluten free diet going for you?
Wonderful! I feel amazing and have noticed my body is thriving
@@flourishingmiranda Awesome!
I can get bananas for 30 cents per pound at my Aldi.
Wow that’s amazing!!
I used to love Whole Foods but I no longer shop there since Amazon bought them. ☹️
Amazon will eventually take over the world. We don’t shop a lot on amazon but for some items it’s been the only place we can find them 🧡
I spend About $700 to $800 a month for our family of 8. Yes. I can buy more because of the $$ but I always keep it to about $25 s person per week. Agreed to buy for one person and spend.$25 would be more difficult but please understand how many people out here.are already on basic survival mode already.
We spend $50 a week for two people 🧡
A friend gave me some GF red lentil pasta and it was so bad. It has totally turned me off of GF pasta. Thankfully my gut is completely fine with gluten. You keep buying it so you must like it?!?!?
Yup I enjoy it! But I’m the least picky eater you’ll ever meet ☺️
Thank goodness somewho eats bread I get called out all the time I don't eat any animal products I'm not giving up bread !!! 😀
Hahahaha BREAD IS LIFE! Those who don’t eat bread are just sad 🤣
LOL people think you are lying in your videos and you don't really eat this way. 🤥😁 I get there are recipe channels who show meal preps and maybe those creators don't eat the food, but your channel has always come across as a lifestyle channel. I've always had the impression you are showing your real life.
Thank you Julie! I feel the same -- and I like just sharing what works for me! In hopes someone can take a sprinkle of inspiration away!
Damn guess I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time I’ve been spending $350-400 a week at Whole Foods for the last 2 years…..
I’m not a prime member 😁
Cheers to us! 🥂
My bananas are $0.89/LB in Eastern Canada. 😊
That’s still not bad!!
@@flourishingmiranda I agree, it’s decent! Food costs, in general, are very high here, though.
I clicked on this video so fast 💨
Awww YAYYY
Gluten free bread is often better toasted.
Yes agreed!! It’s dense so it needs a good toasting. It was so much better “toasted” in the air fryer!
No judgment 🧡 ever! Everyone has their own likes and dislikes!!
OMG...I can't keep almond butter in the house...it is like crack to me....YES, a good healthy fat though!
I say not worth it at all
Oh that’s really nice of him!!
Cool! :)
as much Tomatoes that you use per week you would be better off buy the # 10 cans.
you're awesome
Awww thank you!
Gluten free toast has to be toasted. Just tossing it onto a dry sauté pan and flipping it over just enough to warm both sides helps a lot. Oh! And TOASTED nut butter and banana sandwich is the bomb-digity!
Yes it was way better toasted for sure!
Wouldn't want you to feel like you're not getting enough internet criticism... you cut your sandwich 🥪the wrong way! 🤣
Hahahahaha I was going to ask what way you all cut your sandwiches 🤣🤣🤣
