- It's possible to connect the new DJI Mic 2 to an iPhone or to any iPhone whether it's the latest iPhone 15 or an ancient one like the iPhone 8, in this video we will learn how to connect it to the iPhone. The process is the same as for an Android.
thank for the video as a side note the device is not automatically in bluetooth mode. if you have the mic paired to a reciever the light will be green. you need to press and holp record button while in green pairing mode to switch to bluetooth pairing mode. thanks!
Thank you for this tip and extra info
Good video! Have you tested this with the native video camera app on the iPhone or Android? I know it won't work with the iPhone camera. I wonder about the Android camera app. I did see that one can use the Rode Reporter in the background, to direct audio to the native camera app, but the Rodes Reporter app will also not work on my iPhone (13 Mini). Rode knows of the issue, so hopefully they will get it sorted out.
Hi! Thanks, yes I managed to get it working with the default camera app on IPhone - here's a video showing the experiment ruclips.net/video/W0aUqcVOwFQ/видео.html with the default camera app. I didn't know that Rode Reporter can direct audio to the default camera app, so that's interesting
Interesting to know that it works on mobiles, great stuff
Hi - yes I'm happy it works on mobiles as well as I will now use it as a standalone recorder
Hi there what was the app you connected it too? Thanks
Hi there - I was using the RodeReporter app to test it (free app) as with that app, can change the sample rate etc
Can both DJI mics be connected to the iPhone by bluetooth at the same time? Thanks
Hi, thanks for your question Boc, Yes I believe this is possible
Hi, I’m having an issue using the mic when recording on my iPhone app. It seems to not be connected at all.
Hi - can you see it paired in the bluetooth settings? Make sure it is showing and connected there - it should then show in your app. I assume your app is able to pick up bluetooth mics? Some don't. If it doesn't pick up, perhaps switch off the mic, disconnect from bluetooth then switch on and re-connect.
It was working and pairing, next time I used was green slow light, if I hold pair faster green light. Any ideas please ?
I think the phone has lost the pairing - I suggest turning off/on the bluetooth on the phone and seeing if it pairs (when green light flashing quick). Or forgetting the device in bluetooth settings and then it should pair again.
Sorted. its crazy system and illogical... bad design and not mentally ergonomic. you have to activate BLUE light before youbcan pair to use bluetooth....AND HOW DO YOU DO THAT ???.... why, you have to press the RECORD button........!!!!!!! HOW CRAZY IS THAT ???
Wow, thanks for this - indeed that's crazy. I'd have never thought that pressing the record buttton makes the blue light come on before it will pair. Thanks for sharing!
Can it work with the camera app for vlogs?
I don't think so unfortunately..
Hi - yes it will I will be making a video to show it working with the Camera App this weekend
great tips. thank you for all the recent updates!
Hi - Thanks so much for your comments, and glad they are useful!
will this working when video recording with the DJI Mic
Hi yes once paired, as long as the video recording app allows external mic then it should work eg Blackmagic App
@@4T-Tech will it not work with the video recorder standard built already in ISO to the iPhone already ! OR is another app I have to use . thanks .
i'm trying to find out a solid answer about this microphone before I go out and purchase one . thanks again ...
p.s i have iphone 15 pro max .
@@cheekyoscar1353 Hi thanks for the question. I've just tested now with iPhone 15 Pro and it works with the Voice Memo app. When paired, the app will use the Mic 2. I use the Rode Reporter app in the video as it's a Free app and much better featured than Voice Memo. Either way though the Mic 2 will work via bluetooth with your Max. Bluetooth has a max range of 10m though so if you need it to work longer distance than that, you'll need to plug in the receiver
@@4T-Tech yes you would be correct . but not with the iphone standard video app .... which is a bit 🤬🤬 still probably a apple thing ..... . thanks for your feedback ❤️
@@cheekyoscar1353 Hi sorry didn't realise you meant the built in camera app apologies. I have done another test and can confirm that it does work with the Camera app in video mode. The camera app automatically swaps to any connected external mic. I put the phone 5m away and spoke softly into the dji mic2 and could hear my voice clearly on the video recording so was not using the internal mic. I also tested it with the BlackMagicCam video recording app (free app) where it's possible to select the mic manually in the audio source. For me on my iPhone15 Pro it seems working fine with the camera app and other video recording apps. Hope that helps. I could make a video showing this working if that helps.
Have you noticed the quality is SIGNIFICANTLY worse when connected via Bluetooth vs. the receiver? Mine is a HUGE difference!
Hi Justin, thanks for the comment - no, I've not yet noticed any changes but I'm using the one as part of the Creator Combo which has the receiver built into the Pocket 3. I haven't done much with just the bluetooth yet, so thanks for the heads up. I'll do some experiments and further testing and report back, probably via a video
Thanks for explaining
Glad it was useful, best wishes, Tim
Thanks for the tip! :)
Hello, thanks so much for watching, best wishes!
How is the range
Hi - max 10m bluetooth range line of sight, so might be less than that in the real world. I could do a proper test to find out
Bad video you already have the DJI connected.
Bad comment, you are wrong - the DJI is not connect - if you look at 0:38 the bluetooth settings, the DJI is not connected, but then connects quickly as I put it into pairing mode.
