Thank you for making this video! I just got dji mic 2 and I love how short and impact this video was! Appreciate you!
I’m glad this video helped ya!
LOVE the video!!! I just bought upgraded from the original DJI mics and these settings are extremely helpful!
I'm glad I was able to help!
Nice video thabks!
Wow, impressive tutorial, thanks. I noticed like me, the touchscreen can be difficult at times with finger size! I’ve now learned to use the scroll wheel as a scroll dial combined command push button, saves a lot of missed finger touchscreen scrolling. Just thought i’d give something back to the community. Thanks again. 👍
Yeah, not a fan of the touchscreen myself either for the same reason lol. Thankfully the buttons and scrolling is quite responsive
Great content, sir!!
Thank you Sir!
love the spigen iPhone case there!
Thank you. My favorite case of all time haha
What would be the best setting for recording travel videos? Mainly to capture the surrounding noise.
About to buy and here are you!
hahaha good timing indeed!
Anyone know what settings etc are best for the insta360 x3 for using for car footage while using the mic 2 and transmitter?
Hey Mike!
Love the video, by chance, do you know if there's a way to get two different tracks for audio when recording with a Sony A7iii? When it's set to stereo and I upload it into my editing program, the audio is all put together in one.
The camera audio will come altogether. You’re better off duplicating your camera audio on your timeline and select the L track, and then select the R track on the other.
@@MikeBSalazar Didn't even think to do that, appreciate it!
I just purchased the Rode Wireless Go II
Nice purchase! What made you choose it?
Awesome video! I find myself having to bump my transmitter db gain to +12 , my fx30 volume to 1 and receiver to the recommended +9. What is the gain level of your transmitter?
I'm currently recording in 32 bit float and am boosting it in post, but I'm still playing with the levels to get it just right straight out of camera. But I do agree with boosting the gain via the receiver/transmitter.
Awesome! A tutorial about how to make your DJI MIC2 sound better with EQ or editing in post would be amazing for us beginners out there. And I cannot really find videos about enhancing the audio quality of this mic on youtube that much. People are so focused on talking about the mic, but don't take time to actually point out the fact that people do tinkle with the audio in post@@MikeBSalazar
Just a couple from me: if I’m the only person ever talking should I use stereo or mono? And is 32bit float absolutely needed? Or does it just give you extra headroom flexibility in post if required?
Mono should be fine.
32 bit is exactly that extra headroom. Audio is recorded every day without it.
Just switching, right now, from Rode WGII to DJI Mic 2 because I got a DJI OPM3 and want to use one mic system with both that and my Nikon mirrorless.
So, the camera setting on the DJI receiver is just a quick way to set gain for specific cameras? Is there a table or chart that shows what settings they actually represent in case I wanted to manually tweak gain slightly different from their recommendation?
When I use the DJI Mic 2 directly with the OPM3 it is using Bluetooth connection. Is there a a quality difference than using the wireless receiver? More convenient, but is there a quality issue as I've never thought BLE was a professional connection for audio gear?
Lastly, my understanding is that because of patent issues (no one wants to pay royalties) none of the 32-bit wireless mics transmit 32-bit to the camera, they only record internally at 32-bit.
For all non-live work, do you recommend still using the camera's audio (mirrorless with DJI receiver or OPM3 with BLE) as scratch and sync'ing the recorded audio to use as the main audio or is it "not needed" unless there is audio drop outs?
I haven't seen a chart or table to show the recommended settings.
When it comes to the wireless receiver, I don't perceive a difference in audio quality. However if you want to manipulate the 32 bit audio, you'll want to take the audio straight from the microphone itself.
So yes, you'll want to hit record or make sure that those microphones automatically record if you need it to.
For me I prefer to record both scratch and recorded audio just in case, then sync if needed.
Do you have your camera cage ? Has anybody figure out a cage specifically the top handle you can still use both - the handle without covering the hot shoe mount ?
Most top handles will block the hot shoe mount. If anything some top handles will have the cold shoe mount.
I just bought the DJI Mic 2 and when I swipe down, I see Mono, Receiver Gain, Volume, Transmitter Settings, and Settings. Maybe you are showing an older version. I looked everywhere but don't see this option.
Which option are you referring to because I am using the DJI Mic 2.
HELLO there
is there a function to record simulaneosly inside the camera and inside the transmitter? cant find it .
Thanks in advance
Namaste
Yeah. Just hit the red circle on the transmitter and as long as you’re recording on your camera you’re good.
@@MikeBSalazar Yeah i do know about the red button but i just had hope it also had a simultaneously setting to when press record on camera it would record in both. Thanks for the answer 👍
@@NamasteJiOficial In the transmitter settings you can turn on auto rec when you remove the transmitter from the case. So you will have one long internal recording without having to press the record button on the transmitter.
@@janifisc i dont have the case, so will it work when i turn it on then. That's a good one thanksin advance
Sorry I know I’m really late to this video, but what editing software do you use?
Final Cut Pro / Da Vinci Resolve
Can you record in stereo? On a GoPro Hero 12 black? Could both mics connected to my GoPro via bluetooth ?
I haven't tried connecting with a bluetooth nor own a gopro to try. This will probably work best with a microphone adapter that gopro may make.
@@MikeBSalazar The receiver does have bluetooth connectivity? I was thinking pairing both mics to the receiver and the receiver paired via bluetooth to the gopro...
Hi, i cant get sound out of the mics to camera when I use the cable from mic out. Only from headphones out. Any solution on this??
You might have a faulty out jack. I recently had mine replaced for free by DJI
@@MikeBSalazar Did it get faulty all of a sudden? I have tried another Rode cable but it didnt work neither. Maybe it have to be the original one
Imagine getting married with a DJI mic clipped to your wedding dress. lmao
😆 just plug this thing into a mic lol
But I find the rode heavier haha
Imagine not thinking of plugging a discreet lav mic that you can hide in.
The white Mic 2 would be fine here
Is the mic can use with canon camera too?
Absolutely
Will these pick up an acoustic guitar and singing?
Yes, but for better results, you want one mic that is close to your mouth and one for your guitar.
@@MikeBSalazar of course. Thanks for the response. Bought em lastnight. They'll be here today
I still dont understand why you need stereo to separate audio track, you have just left and right audio ... with mono, you have 2 separate audio files and you can also edit it in post processing ... what am I missing ? if I use both transmitters, why would be stereo setting better ?
Stereo is better to have the left and right split, but if you record mono, then both tracks are mixed together into one track and you can’t edit either in post unless you record directly on each microphone as well and take the audio from the individual mics.
@@MikeBSalazar now I got it, I started to experiment, and yes you are partly right
DIFFERENCE: if you use Reciever :
1 mic : mono
2mics : stereo (edit in post editing)
Without receiver (record by pressing record button on side of mic)
1 or 2 - 1 or 2 mono audio files
There is on amazon a cable that split the 3.5 TRS stereo onto Two 3.5 mono. It allows to connect a stereo microphone on a boompole for example to the two transmitters that send both mono channel and finally the receiver set as stereo can store both channel in the camera. It is the only way i found right now in the market to send a stereo signal wirelessly to a camera. If someone knows another let me know.
No Sony A9II in the Camera list!!!
Can I set it to a gopro.??
Theoretically yes if you have a microphone adapter.
Or Bluetooth
Thanks brooo! but gunting kuku dulu please..
😂 that’s it! No more close ups! Hahaha
In case you care, the title should be written "...to set up", not " to setup". "Setup" is a noun. When you are going to set something up you write "set up" as two separate words.
I appreciate the correction 🫡
@@MikeBSalazaryou handled that well. This was a great video worthy of much more than a grammar policing lol. I’m using this video to “setup” my DJI 2 that just arrived tonight. Thank you!
