Andy LaRoque is one of the best guitarists to ever play metal. You really need to listen to the "Them" CD for this to make sense. Think of this as the sequel to that release....it is a continuation of the story.
He's like the Stephen King of Heavy Metal.

When I was a teen and I used to listen to "Them" it used to spook me. The story telling is amazing. Andy is amazing, I have him ahead of Randy Rhoads on my list.

In my opinion King Diamond is a very special band. 1st - the vocalist used different voices at same song and can sing with lows and super high notes. 2nd - the music King Diamond produced was creative, innovative, it was very complicated, untraditional, contained many brilliant guitar solos and overall it was the most "complicated" metal music i heard at that time. 3d - The texts of albums were like mini books with chapters. Each album contained an interesting storyline it was scary and thrilling. 4th - The atmosphere on each album was intense. You can feel something "outside" of music - the atmosphere works on its own as an additional element to the albums. King Diamond raised the bar to the state of real Art. abd 5th - King Diamond was able to produce 5! albums -86-87-88-89-90 - each year and each album is masterpiece. It was a tremendous streak. I dont know any other band who could do 5 albums in a row each year with THAT level of perfection.
Agreed - that run in the late 80s (including 1990) is unmatched, even by King's own work that followed...

His most terrifying story by far is The Puppet Master. Great concept album and honestly just a psychological horror masterpiece. Since it’s close to Halloween I definitely recommend that you guys do a full album listen of King Diamond. The songs come to life in a completely different way when you’re able to get the full story instead of just a segment.

You guys must listen to this entire album to fully appreciate this song, all the songs are connected and tells a story. The next song on the album is "Sleepless Nights" An amazing song as well.

Them/Conspiracy I consider a double album. It is my second favorite album of all time.
King Diamond is a Metal Singer from Denmark. He is also the lead singer of Merciful Fate! They are one of the most influential bands! Many Black Metal bands including Metallica are heavily influenced by King Diamond and Merciful Fate .

King is now 67 i believe and sounds absolutely amazing live even after dying 3 times while having triple bypass surgery. Can't wait for the new album. Really go see him live. Probably the best metal show you can go to. Completely engrossing

Listening to a random song from a random King Diamond album is most of the time like reading the seventh chapter in the fourth book in a series where the story stretches over nine books. It just doesn’t give you all the info that’s needed to fully understand it.
I mean, it's the first song in the album. The only thing they messed up, is the fact that they didn't listen to "Them"

The Eye is a masterpiece of an album, truly on of King Diamonds best. Definitely one of my favorite albums in king diamonds discography.

I met King Diamond in Santa Barbara (of all places) on the Them Tour.
He was playing with Danzig and Flotsam and Jetsam.
Ran into Mickey Dee the drummer at a local drum shop earlier in the day. He said to stop by the venue before the gig (we had tickets) and ask for him. He took us back by the buses and we talked drums and music. Super cool guy.
King was very friendly. A smart guy who is for sure a real satanist.
The atmosphere King Diamond creates with his music and lyrics is beyond, well, awesomeness, or something. Been a fan since the beginning and these stories and songs, entire albums and the concepts, never gets old ! Did I mention his one of a lifetime voice, which bends and twist to every direction one can imagine.
A lot of ‘90s black metal bands were inspired by king diamond and Mercyful Fate had a huge influence on Metallica also.

For my personal liking, I'd say that 'At the Graves' is one of King Diamond's best tracks ever, and that says a lot, because I love so much of his work.

Literally the most confusing song you cOils have chosen. Conspiracy is the second half of a story that spans two albums. You just dropped right into the middle of the story.
Like other have said, you gotta do a whole album to really get sucked into the story. His albums are creepy as hell and he changes his voice to suit different characters. Andy is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. Abigail is considered his best by most, followed by THEM, but I think The Puppet Master is the creepiest story,

The storyline is actually one of my daughter's favorites when it comes to King Diamond.
House of God is an excellent story! Then again, pretty much any KD album is an excellent story/novel, though The Spider's Lullabye is more of a novella with a couple short stories preceding it...

Jay had a brief period when he performed wearing white face paint and a loin cloth with his hair combed straight up. IIRC it was quite early in his career.

Saw Merciful Fate last year and it was a truly surreal show. Been a fan of his since the mid-80s and he has not lost anything in the past 3+ decades!
Awesome song. 'The Wedding Dream' from this album is a cool song & definitely 'Black Horsemen' from Abigail. 'Halloween' from Fatal Portrait is the obvious choice for Halloween, & Mercyful Fate's 'At the Sound of the Demon Bell' is another good choice for Halloween. You've done 'The Oath' from Mercyful Fate's DBTO album & 'Nightmare' & 'Come to the Sabbath' are also cool songs from that album.

Them starts off with a song called Welcome Home, it's about their grandmother coming home from a long vacation, That is what the mother tells the kids but really, grandma was in an asylum.
Both albums are a masterpiece, musically and story wise.
You should know by now that with King, you must listen the whole album to get what the lyrics refers to. I mean, his albums are like horror movies, one song is just one scene👻👻👻

Yes, Conspiracy is a horror concept album. Many of King Diamonds are. The best is Abigail. You should do the entire album for Halloween. On a side note, he also has a song Halloween. PS. Micky Dee left and joined Motorhead.
To understand this song you would have to listen to his album Them which was a concept album about his mom sister and grandmother in a house full of demons that he called them
King Diamond is the best pioneer of metal concept albums. Quuensryche "Operation Mindcrime" and King Diamond are the only bands I know in 80-s in metal genre who came out with genius concept albums. And King Diamond "Conspiracy" is not JUST a concept album its a part 2 of a pair of albums. 1st part was in 1988 - "Them". And "Conspiracy" is part 2 and it came out in 1989.
