I met King Diamond when he was on the "Abigail" tour... and it was funny as hell. He was playing in a club that had been a grocery store in a strip mall. Everyone was lined up outside waiting for the doors to open. I realized I needed cigarettes, so myself and my friend walked down the strip mall to get smokes at the "K-mart". On the way down we passed a coin operated laundry and we happened to look in...and sure as shit, there was KING DIAMOND doing his laundry! We walked in and he was cool as shit and we talked to him for close to 30 minutes. He asked us not to tell anyone he was inside so he didnt get mobbed while he washed his clothes. YEARS later...he was touring here on a Mercyful Fate reunion tour and he spotted me in the second row...said my name and asked how I'd been, and it was great to see me again. One of his roadies came over behind the crash barrier and pointed to me..and pointed to the side of the stage. I met the roadie over at the side of the stage and he handed me a pass and said King Diamond wanted to talk to me after the show. Well, I got to talk to him again...and he honestly just wanted to know how I had been since we talked in the laundry mat years earlier...lol. Now, that when you know the guy is cool as shit and cares about his fans!

I had the pleasure of meeting King 4 yrs ago, I was starstruck!! King was my Dad's biggest Idol he was literally his most dedicated #1 fan. He had the Don't Break the Oath album from Mercyful Fate tattooed on his entire back, met King's/Fate's bands over 20x and had all of King's/Fate's memorabilia/records/posters/clothing everything u name it plus its all autographed from the original bandmates and King! My Dad was so obsessed, he even had an old coke can of King's with his cig butt in it from 95' when he hung out with him (he swiped it he loved King that much haha!) and its still in his closet to this day! King Diamond will always be one of the most iconic Metal musicians in history. Always well spoken and a musical force that no one can match! I was lucky enough to speak to him in the late 90’s when a mutual friend put me on the phone for a surprise. He was very cool and it was a highlight of my life. Massive inspiration to me. Hail the King!
Met him on the Them tour in a hotel after the show. Me and my friends were in awe, he was totally cool, answered everyone's questions thoughtfully. Took a picture with him, it was one of the rare times he didnt have sunglasses on. Complete rock star on stage, totally down to Earth in person.
His onstage persona makes him look like a scary guy, but behind the face paint and the stage effects, he is one of the most down to earth people you’ll ever meet based on this interview. His voice is such an inspiration for metal singers to feel “comfortable” using a falsetto style.
I saw him on the House of God tour. he came out wearing socker shorts and a teeshirt before the show to greet the fans, shaking people's hands and autographing anything anyone had for him to autograph. he was a genuinely nice guy.
Just got to see this legend last week a day before Halloween the perfect time to watch a King Diamond show. After all these years he’s still giving us some of the best storytelling performances in metal. 🐐
I'm seeing him at the Fox theater on December 27. I missed out on him in 2019 and then the world went to hell. I paid $300 from my ticket. I've never valued a concert more in my life
I don't know about everyone else, but these Raw & Uncut segments are easily my favorite thing I've seen from BangerTV thus far. Great interviews with a lot of depth, really gives you a feeling for who these legendary musicians are as people. Please keep them coming!
back in the early eighties, his phone number was in the liner notes in the "Melissa" album... called him a couple times... was cool enough to talk to a couple goofy teenagers from Seattle, back then... always remembered that and made me a life long fan... well worth the beating I got when the parents got the phone bill...
I've listened to metal since I was in the 6th grade - 30+ years - and I own more than a thousand metal CDs. It's not easy to make a list of "The Best 10 Metal Albums EVER!!!!" or that kind of thing; there are so many great albums to choose from. It's hard to leave off certain albums. But, I can easily choose my favorite album of all time: Abigail. This guy made the single greatest album of all time - all genres be fucked. Abigail is just the best musical recording ever made, IMO.
it's art theater he's great. I followed him merciful fate when I was 16. I'm 48 now and still crank it up. I hate the devil thing im a Christian but not a judge. he can believe what he wants he's not bad.
Yeah 48 here too, bad ass times. You can't get much better than some of the Metal created in the 80s , it was like some kind of damn magic going on. I find it hard pressed to find anything since that I could say YEAH !! that's it , except for King Diamond , so far.
Louis Almaguer I went to a used music store that had around 1000,00 records used ones ,I asked the guy around my age to hear what was new and fresh and we both agreed 👇 nothing good out . I guess there is a super deluxe Abigail CD out with extra stuff , I just got the regular CD to replace my long gone cassette tape.

Thank you King Diamond (man and the band)!!!
Being Danish myself, it's incredibly surreal to see a guy who looks like that speaking with - more or less - the same accent as my grandmother. Interesting guy.
In the 8th grade on a field trip to the North End in Boston a classmate had a boom box with the "Them" cassette playing. I was blown away and have been a fan since. I'm now 46 and the music of King Diamond is timeless.
I'm old school. I love his 'Them' album. I can sing the whole album note for note. King Diamond is an incredible everything. Singer, performer, person, etc......
Same here :D It is the ultimate Denglish accent and I was surprised to hear that - him spending so much time in the US. Lars Ulrich is more typical - getting used to speaking American, and it rubs off on his Danish. But it is good fun - clearly he is very down to earth. :)
I remember the first time I'd heard King Diamond song, my friend and I were tripping on LSD and he told me that King had sold his soul to the devil for his voice range. Now at 54 yrs old, I'm seeing that he's a very down to earth, normal rocker!
I met him once in ‘88 and he didn’t have his makeup on. Talked to him for a couple minutes before the ‘Them’ concert and thought he was a roadie for the band. Didn’t realize it was him until a couple years after. I wish I would have known I would have gotten his autograph. Super relaxed guy, not what most people would expect.

"Brings His Coffin and soil from Denmark"! Brilliant, just like Count Dracula Himself! hahaha! Well, MERCYFUL FATE do have a great song called "return of the Vampire"! But seriously, a very good interview with King.

Holy shit. I used to listen to his music with my friends 25 years ago. I feel so old! Thanks for the interview, I watched it all and it was really interesting. This guy seems super chill and really fun to hang out with.
Spend a lot of hours listening to his music, and i still do. His music took me places in my mind. Awesome, atmospheric, mind full...there is only one king for me and he is King Diamond!
In the 80s/90s many musicians sucked up to the American way. Like Lars Ulrich and Mike Tramp, many musicians distanced themselves from their native dialects, endeavoring to "be" American. I think King Diamond's strong Danish accent tells all about his personal integrity and straightforwardness. He's such a great guy!
I think it also depends on the environment and how long you have been in the US. I have a Danish accent much like Kim does, and it makes people cringe sometimes, but I stopped caring this much. I have never tried to sound like an American, because quite frankly I cannot even produce these sounds phonetically like Lars Ulrich can.
Well Lars immigrated to California during his early teens, which is a realistic time frame for someone to lose their native accent. The Young brothers and Bon Scott from AC/DC were immigrants to Australia from Scotland and they lost their accents and adopted the Australian accent. I fail to see how this is "selling out".
Wish this was much longer. So many questions I'd love to hear him answer. Please interview him again. An extended interview. Once he's gone there will never be another.
My absolute favorite heavy metal band, and favorite heavy metal front man. Got a chance to shake his hand once after a show, and I have seen every tour since 1986. I have nothing but respect for King. Extremely intelligent horror stories set to music. Some of the best musicians in the world backing him up. And what a voice. With most bands I could tell you my favorite album of theirs. Much more difficult with him. It's like, they're all good. Excellent interview. Good questions.
Wow great interview. Never saw him in plainclothes so relaxed. Also love the babies/ crying babies motif on the wall.. and the medieval crossbow! Great interview... amazing actually..
I saw Mercyful Fate in Atlanta in 2022 and it was my first concert. It was epic! Next Friday, I'm seeing King Diamond with his solo band and looking forward to it! Such a great vocalist and songwriter
I remember when I was in up at Strøget (the main shopping street in Copenhagen) and was just minding my own business in a store that had horror figures, movies etc and I asked this random dude if I could just get take a look at some figures where he stood. He turned around and said "of course" and my heart dropped, because it was King Diamond and I was so starstruck that I couldnt even speak for some minutes :O When I got back to speaking, we spoke about horror, about what was our favorite and what dragged us into horror and metal. It was such an amazing experience and the staff didn't even know who he was and I bought a Dracula figure and got him to sign it and I still have it to this day :D
I was into Mercyful Fate for a bit in the 80s, then my tastes changed as they do. But while I'm sure I've forgotten more bands than I remember, some line from Melissa or something will always periodically pop into my head. Fast forward a few decades and it's just life-affirming to discover that not only is King an incredibly awesome human being, but even 13 years after this was recorded he's still absolutely killing it with his band.
I met King Diamond when he was on the "Abigail" tour... and it was funny as hell. He was playing in a club that had been a grocery store in a strip mall. The Young brothers and Bon Scott from AC/DC were immigrants to Australia from Scotland and they lost their accents and adopted the Australian accent. I fail to see how this is "selling out".
One thing I've always liked about Metal is that a lot of these guys are so down to earth, no ego.
It's great to see that King has a hifi set up and a bunch of CDs instead of a fucking iPhone.
HeavyMetalSonicRM
That’s his generation, same as mine.
I'm 14 I have cds
@Mildly Amusing Person What an asshole.
King Diamond is a class act, he is so fun to listen to all the stories are great Long Live The King
Great ! cant wait for new King album.
Wish this was much longer. So many questions I'd love to hear him answer. Please interview him again. An extended interview. Once he's gone there will never be another.
I love his house, would love to see more of it
This is Awesome! I love King Diamond! Especially in his normal daily life. I love it and much respect! A+++ Great Story!
Very cool, great interviewer, I’ve seen a few videos here and he always comes up with awesome questions
This was the scariest guy in the mid 80’s.. He gave me nightmares...
Awesome aint it! Me Too!
Fifa 2020 I dunno what's weirder, your random-ass FIFA 2020 screen name or your random-ass stock footage avatar, lol.
You're not alone
King Diamond is such a super cool guy! Love watching interviews with him.
I met him today at BestBuy. I work at the front as AP and he came in
I love King Diamond. He rocks and seems like a funny, chilled guy.
Seems like a great guy. Loved him since the day I first heard "The Oath" OMG!!!
wow, wonderful interview, thanks so much for upload this. I really hope you can share the complete Fenriz interview later too
As good as the first two Mercyful Fate albums are. In The Shadows may be my favorite
I scared the hell out of my cats. Hahahaha! He's a gem for sure.
My favorite king interview. I wish it was longer, he sounds like the most down to eath guy.
Good interview, however, it was too short for me. There's a lot of questions to be done to the mighty King Diamond.
And knowing this guy he probably travels across the planet to do this interview, there had to be more than tis 5 min interview.........?????????????
i dont listen to metal but love these interviews. You do a very good job with them.
awesome singer and looks like a very good person! Hails to King DIamond!
Great interview. I only wish it was longer.
Awesome. Long Live King Diamond. Thank you, Sam.
Its easily to hear he is from Copenhagen :-D
André Larsen oh really??
Great interview. Very eloquent
