5:45 LEGO has made "jellyfish" in the past from other parts. I want to see some purpose-designed modern ones like they've been doing so many other animals... and to include them in modern underwater themed sets where they'd be perfect. Dual-molded and/or marbled trans-_____ with trans-clear & everything.
I’d love to see a squid, specifically in the orange colour from the front of the recent landspeeders, if the mold was made well it could use existing parts as tentacles as well, considering how many sea creatures we’ve gotten the squid is becoming more and more plainly absent.
The poblem is that Lego seems to have put a lot focus on the "technical" aspects of the set, it's a quality build and looks good on display. But where it's lacking is its core play aspect. It's not thought out or set up for kids (or adults) to interact and play with fully. I mean you'd want to be able to walk the figs around the set, play out different scenarios, etc...But it's not possible in this case because each segment is done as an independant module, the "connecting" aspect fails because it's merely replacing modules for the sake of switching up the "look", it doesn't however aid or add anything for the sake play. Another thing is the intricacy, building quality, and inclusion of details in the set are supposed to work FOR play, it needs to have a basis in a possible story for kids to go off of on, and mot merely just for looks. Like something simple as adding a skeleton or a hidden trap or object to be revealed in the cave would add to the play aspect whereby you could make up your own scenarios for the divers, but an empty space gives you nothing to go off of.
This is true, I find that lego isnt a very big fan when it comes to making fleshed out interiors. It seems most of their sets do not have much room to play in in terms of posing minifigures within a build. Maybe with the exception of the creator city sets.
Yeah. And sets like this are so expensive. I'm surprised about this one, since it's not a Licensed Property (like Star Wars). It's Lego's own thing. No need for inflated prices.
Compared to the 1997 underwater base which I own(6441). Which has a small boat with crane, an entire base and a large submarine which is also sold as a single set. Much more play value. For about the same price. I really loved the underwater exploration theme back in the day, and actually bought the 3 smallest sets of this year. The 2 subs are okay and the pollybag is descent. Don't know if I get this base. The ship yes.
Lego needs to reconsider using those enormous specialized pieces so much. I feel like we're rapidly reverting back to the dark days of lego where almost all they made were vehicles consisting entirely of just 5 or 7 massive parts.
"Slightly happy clone"... Jang, I noticed that you finaly admitted that you have indeed been cloning yourself. I for one am *very* proud of you for coming clean! I wish you the best in your future cloning endeavours! 😊
Jang I just wanna say I love your videos and I’ve been watching since you started reviewing hero factory and I just wanna say thank you for being you and shaping my childhood
Why does it seem like LEGO keeps innovating with these new designs and styles of peices, but then squander opportunities to use them? Its the same story regarding play space...
@@Lordodragonss Yes and the parts from those 90s sets were full of great parts. If you put these new sets side by side with the 90s stuff I think the kids would choose the 90s stuff.
@@Lordodragonss Popping out 3 underpieces 3 top lids and 3 transparent window bowls and they are basically done constructing the core of this set. This is more cost-efficient.
I personally don't like this set. It really doesn't feel like LEGO, instead more of a doll house. I also think this is just a way to get new pieces like the stingray or the helmet.
I love the old music it’s extremely nostalgic. I remember all those years ago when I got into Jang’s channel, those were some of the best days of my life
Yeh it’s pretty cheap..the US price for the big one is $150, that converts to about $179 Australian, which is the rrp at the LEGO shop.. but we have a Kmart here and they have great prices..some cheaper than U.S. somehow..Star Wars prices here are a pretty steep hike though, for sure 👍
I really enjoy how you put the person into the actually play action, painting a picture of how to optimize the play experience. The Bob Ross of LEGO, for sure:)
This is actually one of my favourites from this wave, it just looks cool and just works, also, if you get multiple of these you can make a your base bigger and bigger.
I really like this new wave of sea exploration but I really want a dinosaurs series of this where you get to find prehistoric sharks and underwater monsters
This new Ocean Exploration theme is a letdown for me. It had so much potential. Lego used to make a set for everyone. Now they make city for younger kids, because the 18+ line caters for adults. They don't add that extra level of LEGONESS, that these newer sets need.
As a diver, the bottle and bike are the most realistic accessories to me haha! If they wanted to make it even more immersive they should've added a shopping cart
LEGO has come a long way in designing modular buildings, but they still haven't caught on to the idea that people are more likely to buy a set like this in 3-4 pieces with each having higher play value than a combined set with minimal play value. Take for example the crew quarters. Use the parts from the other three modules to create one large module with four bunks (maybe using slabs and hinges to retract the lower bunks against the wall and reveal storage underneath). The module comes with its support struts, some personal effects, a bit of seabed, and 1-2 figures. Sell it for around $30. Do the same sort of size increase for the lab and command centre. For the hub, increase its size to make it octagonal and include "airlock" walls where you can attach up to eight modules and have a wet bay for the mini sub and skip the crane. Give the hub one diver and 1-2 sea creatures and market it for about $50. Fans of this series can purchase multiple modules and link them to create larger rooms or even add additional hubs to create a sprawling base. Best of all, the ability to sequence the modules means a financially strapped family can buy modules and link them without the hub to provide their children with the best possible play value for their budget. Seriously, LEGO, you're dropping the ball on some very easy profits by sacrificing quality and quantity when you could get both for roughly the same price! I would rather buy three modules for $90 total than this one barely playable set for $80.
I would have been Ok with these parts, IF they were wider and more like "baseplates" to create a module in, with more decoration and options on the inside. This is way more miniaturized. Also, the "detachable" sub is laziness. The white base back in the day had its own designated sub + a small boat. And came with 5 mini figs & 5 fish! This base is smaller, comes with no real sub unless you pull off that part of the base, 5 mini figs only 2 fish. And basically no real underwater world. The boat and the sub gave the old set way more play value, also the way it folds open giving you access and play value inside is much better, compared to this where it is simply a bunch of enlarged cockpits.
Also if you have to detach stuff and have huge arrows on the art work to "enlarge" the set for its value you are doing something wrong. Compared to that old set where they have to crop it all together to fit it in an image...
Hey Jang,I bought 4 of these sets and customised one of the base plates so that there is now a hatch in the bottom with several modules attached, allowing for an office, crew quarters, lab, WC and shower, sickbay, storage and a docking bay for a mini sub. I’ve also ordered set 60096 and intend to create a sub pen for my 60092 sub. still work in progress. I love your video reviews of Lego sets as an AFOL in the UK.

Anything closer to an Atlantis reboot makes me happy
Why must you hurt me so
I faintly remember Atlantis
The only atlantis set I had was the giant black and yellow shark, but I loved it. I want a reboot, too.
Or Aquazone with it's fancy designs
I loved the Atlantis theme, but I only ever managed to get one of the sets. Would absolutely love a reboot of it.
This line of sets reminds me of subnautica especially the coral it looks like blood kelp
And the base looking like the modular base building in subnautica
Lego subnautica pls
Lego subnautica would be awesome!!

The big pieces that they reused need to be replaced with regular parts. The set needs to be expanded.
Long story short, it's missing the fun and imagination of the 90s sub theme.
The Central Hub would have been better if they had put a hole in the floor to simulate the entrance/exit for divers or maybe an opening hatch

This is an attractive set that can overcome its play value deficiencies with some creative customization.
