Whilst engine running your air suspension will still work. It’s just when car is off and the auto lower when opening doors may not work.
Also with Mercedes vehicles i do not recommend doing this because it drains their auxiliary battery

What does this do to the cars battery? Would the charge cycle make the battery burn out faster due to over charging? Not a fire hazard I hope😅

No negative effects on cars that don't have auxiliary batteries like Mercedes. Mercedes use this connector to charge the aux battery but you don't have this issue on VW or Audi vehicles
