Shake and bake!!
I agree with the above, I love all Kent’s videos, so funny and the recipes are tasty, keep up the great work
This man is a American treasure. I learn something every time I watch his videos. Protect him at all cost
Dear Sir,
We just made this recipe tonight for me and my beautiful wife. It was wonderful! I have never had shake and bake, but I remember the commercial. It was so good, I can't believe it wasn't fried in oil. Next time , I think we will brine the bird beforehand. Another tip for those on a budget like us, save the bones. When we are done eating the legs, we will put all the bones in a pressure cooker for about 20 minuites with some onion ,celery and garlic to make stock. After picking out the bones, to make stock ,and adding the ingredients ,we will have a great chicken noodle soup! I know this isn't for everyone, but when times get tough, you do as you can. God bless You and Shan.
Respectfully, Jon and Angie
You don’t have to make stock. Some people instead use the bones to make collagen like jello to take a little every day to help with joints or cartilage
Hey cowboy. I'm fortunate to have grown and taught to be a hunter (includes fishing) gatherer, preserverer. My smokehouse, freezer, rootcellar and larder seldom get to near zero, before we start filling 'em up again. My advice to you all is if you don't know how, befriend someone who does. And learn.
*_KENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 20-25% OF THE THINGS I COOK EACH WEEK._*
Hope you enjoy them all
What'd you say your address was again?!?! 🤣
You must have gotten some rain down in your part of Oklahoma. If you use a dutch oven in my part of the Ozarks outside right now, you would be feeding the volunteer fire department that shows up for the wildfire because everything is so dry. Pray for rain for the farmers and ranchers. Love your videos and your dogs.
This creek bottom is still hangin on, but the rest is sure crispy. We thank you for watching
My 14-year-old boy decided that he wants to be a cooking mechanic when he grows up. We already got him loving cast iron skillets. Now we have to get him on the Dutch ovens.
Thank you for mentioning Mr. Rogers. The world needs more people with his energy so badly right now. This chicken recipe looks phenomenal, can’t wait to try it.
Everytime I run in the house and suggest a recipe my bride says, "You Been listening to KR again" yep and thats how we roll around here. Just 65 short miles from Mr Rollins. Legend.
Y'all have a FANTASTIC show with top notch content and fabulous presentation! I'm an old Iowa boy and a new fan!
I love that you did a video for the “times” where money is tight and food is more expensive. good job!
I've always said the leg was the best part of the whole dern chicken! The only thing I would do differently, would be to add some hot sauce to the buttermilk egg mixture. I like my chicken to bite back a little!
Keep on cooking!
Great idea!!
Hi Cousin,
I save the black pepper grinders when they are empty and put dried, crumbled chili petins in it.
That'l make any meat or mexican dish bite back.
Mr. Kent, thanks for the cooking hints that help stretch the food dollars. Appreciate the work you do to present quality meals in a fun to eat and prepare way. Please keep up hte good work.
You are very welcome
@Gretchen K. Im from Georgia and you are absolutely correct! It is a sign of respect and done always! Oh and Im NOT a foreigner but if one called me Miss Rhonda I would take it as a compliment! Thanks for speaking up😁
@@Lettuce-and-Tomatoes Relax, it's not that serious.
I came here from the breakfast burrito video to see if the positive vibes were consistent. Only took 2 videos to get a subscriber outta me! I came for the food and I'm staying for the positivity, love, and awesome dance moves! Keep up these amazing videos!!!! 👍
One of the things I love most about you and Shannon is that you shop at Walmart and cook with ingredients that are easy to find. And we buy the same wine!
Sam Walton is probably rolling in his gave with the fact there is almost nothing to be found that is USA made in his stores anymore.
I sang the shake n bake song loud and proud right when cowboy Kent told me to! The folks here in the office looked at me like I'd lost my dadburn mind, but I kept right on a singin!!!
Thanks Jimmie I appreciate that
Kent and his Ms. are true Video Legends. No BS. pardon my language Shan. Its good to see folks that do content with no minutia (Kent will Like this word if I Spelled it right) LOL. You guys are awesome as money get tighter videos like this are much appreciated.
Howdy sir! I'm from India & have been watching your recipes starting from the baked beans video & never missed any new uploads ever since. Can't wait for the coming weekend to try this one out! God bless...
Awesome! Thank you! and hope you enjoy
Wow, this channel is amazing. Congratulations on your success!
I'm from VRA family too!
God bless you and your channel.
Thank you sir,from Scotland 🏴🇺🇸❤
Not only do I love the recipes and I love your channel, I love the fact that you always have an American flag right behind you. Keep doing that!
I got very used to legs right after college in the midst of the '08 crash. The best part about legs is you can keep a freezer bag of all the bones. When it's full: Roast them in a dutch oven, cover them with water, simmer a good 6-8 hours, you have a good stock. Add some veggies and you have a broth. Jar that stock up and freeze for later use!
I do the same thing, saving all the bones and scraps like onion, garlic and leek trimmings. I use them for stock.
It's amazing how fast they add up.
My daughter called drumsticks "hand chicken" when she was about 3 years old. Fond memory, still makes me chuckle. She's in her 40's now.
Thx for the recipe and the memory trigger.
Thanks for sharing!!
Smart girl! She knew it was good food....on a stick!
Our daughter is getting married at the Chappel at WT and the reception will be in Palo Duro Canyon in 3 weeks. Wish that you and Shannon (and the pups) were handling the grub or there as guests.
Another great one! Never miss a video from Mexico!
Appreciate it! and thanks so much
Thanks cowboy Kent. This is certainly something I will cook soon with my granddaughter. She's a chicken fanatic. 🐔 God bless you and your family and much love from McAllen, TX. ❤️
Hope yall enjoy and be sure and tell her i said howdy
I don't miss any of Kent Rollin's videos. I was up in Missouri a couple weeks ago and there was a feller there had him a genuine cowboy chuck wagon. He too is a Cowboy Kent Rollins fan. We chewed the fat for quite a spell drinkin' that cowboy coffee.
He gave me a good buscuit too. And mentioned having met Rollins in person somewhere in OK.
I'm envious.
Thank you, Kent. I leave Oklahoma for South Dakota tomorrow morning. Lost a good friend that I served with. His funeral is Friday. Good video.
My two kids, daughter Winry and son Bubby, won’t let me watch “Cowboy Kentboy” without them! Gonna try this recipe in the air fryer soon!
Hope you enjoy and be sure and tell them I said howdy
GREAT pan shot from the pups to the chicken near the end.
Bless you all. You always put a smile on my dial. 🙏👍
Best Dance Yet! Thank You All for sharing this video wIth us!
Thanks to a true cowboy that really knows how to cook! God Bless you y your family!
That's how my meemaw does it. She does it with the stove top and oven now. You're a blessing
I Love Buttermilk, I drink it all the time. Drum stick's are great on the grill.
Another good chicken recipe. "Baking Texas" could almost cook them outside these days.
That is for sure, 106 today, hope you well and safe my friend
I see a Kent Rollins drumstick recipe, I click. Thank you
Mom got a pack of drum sticks for cheap at a local store that was having a sale and I came across this video randomly this morning so I had to use this recipe. They came out amazing. I didn't even use buttermilk having to substitute Aseptic box milk and the drumsticks still came out delicious. Thanks, Mr. Rollins.
The best way to relax is to watch the cowboy cookin'
Thank you Señor, love me some pollo 👋🏻
My pleasure
Sparkling potatoes and baked beans with the skillet bread would be great also.
yet another awesome video and recipe. I have been cooking with dutch ovens for about 40 years and love them. Never too old to learn new tricks though and picked up a couple great ones from you. The trivets are amazing. I used to use rocks, but not anymore. I made a couple for the 12"DO and one for my 16". The second and best tip is the flat shovel with the holes in it. I keep mine prominently displayed as its a great conversation piece as people always ask why I have a shovel with holes in it. I often use the drippings in the bottom of the dutch to make chicken gravy. I use real wood whenever I can. It just adds to the charm of cooking on a dutch. Often on our river trips we have to use charcoal due to fire restrictions. I greatly enjoy watching somebody try to cook on a dutch as our society is too focused on the need to know a specific temperature or time for cooking. Common for people just starting that want to know how many coals to use or how many charcoal briquettes. The answer is the same every time.....It depends. Just gotta get a feel for it and use the tricks of how hot it is on your hand. I greatly enjoy your style of cooking as it works well with my similar style. Thanks.
I was JUST thinking of making drumsticks this weekend, your timing is impeccable!
Thank you both, Ken & Shannon. Your wonderful videos are more than just educational. They are entertaining AND therapeutic. God bless your good hearts.
This is a man that loves life and his food!x
THANK you for teaching folks to pat meats dry. Very very important especially if you want any of that great browning action. Love your videos Kent. It's truly amazing how much you can save doing your own cooking! Don't get ripped off at the store paying for prepared foods
I’m def gonna make this tomorrow for my lady. Your recipes always turn out amazing! She thinks I’m a great cook but I just follow your recipes Kent!!! Thankyou sir!
Thank you so much for the recipe it look wonderful . Iam definitely gonna try it for my daughter .very cool hat . Love from Egypt
Thanks so much for showing a great/easy way to cook bone in/skin on chicken. I see so many people (who didn’t learn how to cook back in the day) use the boneless/skinless (imo, tasteless) chicken breasts that are so expensive!! Bone in/skin on thighs and drumsticks are probably the least expensive pre-cut meat. But, if you really want to make a great meal for your family that is very inexpensive, bake a whole chicken…(a ‘young fryer’) they are dirt cheap compared to other meat, easy to cook (many videos) doesn’t take forever, and any leftovers can be used in multiple ways. Also, I’m sure Kent’s coating method tastes fantastic, but if you have to, use the shake n’ bake, or whatever similar you can use. Also, that whole chicken will cook in one hour (it’ll fit in a crock pot, too). Yes, @Cowboy Kent, I remember that Shake n’ Bake commercial from when I was a kid, and thought it was so cool, I got my “from scratch only cooking” mother to buy a box and use it 😁 I’m not the griller in the family…all of cooking bone in chicken will work in the oven…not going to have that great taste from the grill, but, works fast, and works…for those who don’t have any outdoor space/grill. Also, like you, Cowboy Kent, thank you to all our veterans and our men and women currently serving our country 🇺🇸 thank you could never be enough to the job you do.
Thanks Molly for watching
At 5:55 i was thinking of the song " ghost chickens in the sky! " :)
I so love watching your videos you are awesome I love taking notes and cooking for my family..thank you for taking time to teach me...
You are so welcome! and we thank you for watching
This is a good one! I pass right by the beef section, I ain't gonna pay $25 for a Tbone. Chicken legs and pork chops are a regular guest on my table. A side of red beans, a couple of biscuits, maybe some good grease gravy, noboby walks away hungry!
I don't even look at the beef prices when I shop anymore because I don't want people to see me cry 🤣
@@patriciaholloway 😂😥

I appreciate that Denis and thanks for watching
I literally just heard from my daughter "I had to buy drumsticks because I couldn't afford the breasts." I am sending her this. ♥
Thanks for sharing
We all feel it . From Idaho . fjb
and I go for the thighs and drumsticks not because of price, but because they're juicy!
@@RW-bt6ex Yep, lgb, also that fauci guy.
and drums are so much more flavourful that breasts
Looks delicious! Great job Kent. I appreciate economical meals especially in these hard times. God bless you both 🙏 and the pups.

It sure is
Awesome video. I actually remember that Shake & Bake commercial. Being 67 today it brings back memories. Chicken looked awesome. Prices definitely gone up & drumsticks is a good choice. The shake & Bake shuffle, priceless. We love you guys. ❤️
Man I never want your videos to be over - you and your wife bring us so many good things! Learned so much from you starting with taking care of my cast iron. Hugs from NYC !!!
Another winner getting Kent. Time to get out my Dutch oven
Thanks and hope you enjoy
They look and sound (the crisp coating) amazing. You cook the best meals and food and I always end up hungry for what you're cooking!
Shake it shake it!! Love that energy Kent! I was smiling the whole time! Making this for my family tomorrow night! Now on to that Mac n cheese video!
Thank you for sharing all these incredible recipes and all the work you and Shan do for us to watch! I can't get enough of these videos, and neither can my husband! 9 months pregnant and all your recipes I then start craving! God bless you and Shan!
I don't know if alot of people bake with a Dutch oven but in the bush when I'm out 100 miles hunting and gathering. I learned to use a simular cooking and baking method with a dutch. I have a small metal gadget from my uncle that kinda opens up the lid and allows the meat were cooking to be seasoned by the wood smoke, I might try this method with geese if I catch. I also use dough to seal for different dishes I was taught. Great share sir i love your passion for the art of cooking.👍👍
Pasture raised chickens taste the best-- one of our fav
I made this recipe with leg and thigh quarters. Everybody loved it. I used my ultimate Dutch oven and ran some smoke up the center hole for added flavor.👍🏻
This is definitely up my alley, thank you for another delicious recipe and bringing in some joy!

I’m definitely giving this one a try!
Kent thanks for sharing your videos I really enjoy them each week!!
Looks like ya'll still have some greenery up there. Very little down here in the Abilene and San Angelo area of Texas!
On this creek bottom it is hanging on, but crispy everywhere else
This has become the default method for chicken prep in my home now- it's SO easy. Thank you Kento Rollins!
Thanks Kent! Love your videos!
Tasty! Kent you make Dutch oven cooking look so easy. And good!
We watch your show as a family. My youngest wants to become a cook now! I got them your book for Christmas and it has been a wonderful investment.

I’m the youngest of 5 and I always took the legs 🦵 momma would just look at me and smile 😊,, Kent ,, Mrs Shan we love y’all so much for making our day better ,, my God Pour his blessings upon y’all we love y’all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I buy a lot of chicken thighs . I can make quit a few dishes with them. One of my favorites is buffalo chicken sliders.
This looks really good and i will definitely try this. Word of caution for home cooks. Don't cook your chicken over 400 deg. If you do it will smoke up your house like its on fire. I bake chicken all the time in my oven, so just a word of advice to avoid a kitchen nightmare. Cheers.
I'm glad I came upon ur video. I learned to cook chicken and the entertainment was great, the outdoors and ur dogs are beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Love your videos Mr Rollins!! God bless you and Mrs and those loveable dogs!!🙏🙏
Kent, you are really good with your amazing knowledge about cooking, yes you are. Absolutely incredible techniques. Thank you.
Looks darn tasty, Kent - I'll have to give that a try.
Looks like a great recipe -- and it was an excellent video as well!!! Thanks, you two!
im going to try this next week. Just got your first cook book and did the grilled porkchops with green chile relish. Outstanding. My wife is on a low sodium diet but with a few judicious mods it came out great.
thanks.
Thank you for this delicious recipe!😋
Thanks, Kent! Another great video!!!
Another great recipe. Great tips on how to coat the chicken and the rack. While talking about the beag, he was behind you on his hind legs checking out the outdoor pantry, Continue your service, brother.
It looks like a great recipe, I have to try it some time. Thank you for another great video Kent!
