Outstanding looking homemade bread. I love how it turned out. Fresh butter would be great on that bread. My dad, who turned 92, this month, said that long ago on the farm, in Alberta, his mother would make him sandwiches for his school lunch that had homemade bread, butter, cucumbers and lettuce, from the garden. He said they were so good. Cheers, Kent and Shannon! ✌️

Is their a cooking show you don't watch? Everyone I've ever watched has your comment under it. My grandmother would bake (2) loaves a day for no telling how many yrs. The butter sat right beside them, along with the bread knife. Sure was good anytime of day. I was lucky i lived just across the road. Went everyday and ate fresh bread, sugar cookies, and sweet tea. With good conversation.

If the bread is still warm, There is nothing better than some warm melted butter to go with it. If it is cooled off, but it’s still good and fresh, then I like a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The fresh bread makes it amazing! I don’t have these much anymore, but when I have a good bread like this it reminds me of being a kid again And is worth the calories as long as I have a cool glass of milk to go with it. It looks mighty tasty! Since this bread has some onion and garlic powder mixed in, I'd cut off a healthy slice of it and toast it with a little butter and some melted mozzarella on top with a shake of dried herbs from our garden. Hey Kent, that looks like a great, easy bread recipe. I always love the way freshly baking bread makes the house smell. It always reminds me of the holiday season. A great topping for that bread would be to smother it with garlic butter and a LOT of shredded mozzarella cheese in the last 3 or 4 minutes of baking...for that delicious, melty, goodness. Then, after slicing, serve it with some pico de gallo for a "healthy", bruschetta appetizer.

That meant we got to can a lot of sweet and tangy apricot jam...also known as "pure love" in our family. We're using ol' Mac & Stella Hughes' apricot jam recipe.
Once our bread is cooked (minus the onion and garlic powder), we're going to be topping it with a generous amount of room-temperature butter and some of our homemade "pure love". Each bite will put a smile on your face, guaranteed! :)

Another amazing recipe from the cookie, definitely worth trying at home! I used to work at a Bar-B-Que joint during summer break in highschool and we made homemade bread every day, oh so good. The topping is super simple but it always turned out so glossy and buttery. It was sort of a clarified butter but put some garlic in there when you’re clarifying it and whatever herbs you like. Strain it all out and you have a very flavorful clarified butter that browns so well.
Thank you for all the great content!

I think a good topping for your bread would be Bagel Sesame seasoning blend from Trader Joe’s. It has sea salt, garlic, and Onion that really jazzes up a sandwich. You may need to experiment with less Garlic and onion powder in your original recipe so you don’t overpower.

That does look like a mighty fine loaf of bread. Very straightforward recipe too.
A lot of bread amateurs overlook which slice of bread you ought to use. As professional bread aficionados, we all know that the heel is the crème de la crème of the loaf.
I'd cut a nice thick heel slice, baste it with butter, and top it with some cheesy goodness. Then I'd go outside and fire up the grill and recreate the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. I'm talking about a mountain of yellow American, cheddar, mozzarella, pepper jack, and grated jalapeño along with some garlic and parmesan to top it all off. It doesn't get any better than that.
Thank you for all the great recipes and God bless you, Shannon, the pups, and Gladys and the girls

I would top this bread with a sunny side up egg, bacon, and tomatoes, and may even spread avocado on the bottom, sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning. Going to try this bread recipe this weekend. Thanks Cowboy Kent for your recipes, love the cookbook its been fun following your recipes!

Kent as always I enjoy the simplicity that you use to show anyone can do this!!!! God Bless you and Shannon! I Love to top this type of bread with Guierre and white Extra sharp cheddar from cabot.
a bit of butter and broiler till golden on the face, just like french bread. Goes great with Chili, spagetti, and even a salad!

I can't wait to try this recipe. My topping would have to be some good homemade Mayhaw jelly. My grandmother made Mayhaw jelly every year when I was young and all the family would get at least one jar. I would put some good Kerrygold butter on the bread, heat it up in the toaster oven, then put the Mayhaw on top, and relive some childhood memories.

Stumbled on your channel by accident but I'm glad I did. Learn something new all the time. Thanks for your cooking wisdom. You remind me of me grandad. He was an E-6 in Vietnam in charge of the mess hall... unfortunately he passed away before I realized my love for cooking and his recipes are now lost. When he was stateside the officers used to ask him to cook for their parties and whatnot. I feel like learning from you is as close to learning from him as I'll get. So thanks again

My dad introduced me to your channel when I got ISS in school. Because he saw your video on the smoked beloney log. Love the food, I tried the Mama's marshmallow cranberry salad from your cookbook and fixed it for Thanksgiving. The family loved it. Thank you for your wonderful cooking and recipes.

Kent… awesome video. Thank you for that Vet shout out. I served from 2000-2004. USMC. When I was in Afghanistan, I had a buddy whos mother sent us a little bread maker. We use to make fresh bread as often as we could. Better then the MRE bread. Your video reminded me of the good and bad times while in Afghanistan. The bread would make gave us a break from war and being us back home for a bit. We would all share it among our unit. How ever small of a piece we got. Thank again for the video. As far as the topping, strawberry jelly (MRE style) haha.

Homemade bread brings back so many memories.. My favorite was lightly toasting the bread with garlic butter and making Spaghetti Sandwiches. Yes it sounds odd, but oh so good! But if we went camping there was nothing better than making those mountain pies, Pizza, Apple pie or a good ole cheese pie.. Thanks for the videos and the recipes always great!!

I would love butter and jam (any flavor, homemade of course) on top! I am an old hand at making bread but have never baked it in a Dutch oven outdoors. Though, I am planning to very soon. The onion powder and garlic powder sound delicious! Thanks for the tutorial, you are truly an inspiration!
