All by myself…I TOTALLY want to be…all by myself….
It’s time for Marshall to bring the girls back home for school, so I (Sam) get to spend the weekend by myself in the Scamp for the first time.
Join me as I spend approximately 36 hours alone off-grid in the woods of Colorado with only Percy and Starlink to keep me company.
I spend my time cleaning and going over the COOLEST modification that Marshall designed for the Scamp. You’ll also come to learn a lot about the hobbies I’ve kept and new ones I’ve obtained while living a much more relaxed lifestyle.
Let us know in the comments if there is anything you want to know more about. We would love your feedback for future content!

You asked for a new hobby. How about diamond painting, knitting, crocheting, painting, basket weaving and/or sewing?
Crocheting is very crafty, takes very little space as long as you don't stock pile yarn and is very meditative when working a very plain stich pattern. I often will crochet a plain scarf when I am stressed.
My mom would always make my bed with the tightest tucked in sheets when I was a child. It was a job to get them untucked so my feet and toes had room.
Just watched this last night, and subscribed! Also, I’m an only child as well, and alone time is a must!
I would love a tutorial on the mattress lift, what kind of mattress, foam, and set up? Great idea! I have a 1983 Burro that I’m in the process of renovating! So anything you can suggest. You have so many great ideas for off grid, and in general.
We may just make that soon! We’ve been thinking of what to do for our next how-to video and weren’t sure what people would want to see! Thanks for letting us know! 🙂
I feel like you guys copied Elsa and Barron. I feel like I am watching their videos with different people. Similarities, 13ft Scamp, a dog, young couple living in their 13ft scamp. You Journaling and wanting to do crafty things, this particular video, elsa was left alone for a Night. Even title same, left alone for first time. I remember elsa saying she was left alone for the first time since her and Barron started scamp life. Just a lot of similarities and I feel maybe you watched them and decided to do the same thing they did. They now have built a home and living in that, but their life before that was what you guys are doing now. Sorry but felt I was watching an elsa and Barron video.
Elsa and Barron are huge inspirations and friends, so I’ll take this as a compliment. As with everything new, you tend to copy those who inspire you until you can find your voice. This video was done nearly two years ago, and I like to think I found my voice by now with Elsa’s guidance. 😅 Take care, friend. 🫶🏻
Lovely peace….pulling fur off ugh! Siberians and fur what a nightmare it it’s….lol
It's almost therapeutic at times, though! 😅 I can say with the rapid weather changes east to west and the cool nights in Colorado, Percy's fur has no idea what to do! It sheds then puffs back up constantly.
How lovely. I can relate to only child, need alone time. What kind of solar set up do you have? What can it Power?
Our solar powers pretty much everything in the camper! We have 300 Ah worth of batteries and 400 watts worth of solar panels. We actually have a solar video that explains the whole system (panels to batteries and everything in between)!

I'm an only child and I feel the same way..alone time is a must sometimes👍
I have 7 siblings, and I feel the same! Need to get away from all the craziness sometimes.
I crochet. Full set of hooks take little space. Large 1,000 yd ball of cotton crochet thread less than $5 walmarts everywhere. Clothes, lace, tablecloths, doilies, curtains. Tons free patterns and tutorials utube. Tension curtain rod up near ceiling stores balls and dispenses too.
How does your white rug not get muddy brown? Is it a special kind of fabric?
White rug? If you're talking about Percy's blanket on the floor in the camper, that was a blanket we used back in the house and decided to use it until it got dirty...which it did. I actually just replaced it with a much nicer, fluffier brown blanket.
@@wanderess_sam oh i meant the outdoor one with the diamonds. It seems to stay so nice.
@@BrookRieman Oh! Haha-ignore my comment about the blanket then! It’s actually a plastic outdoor rug we found at Lowe’s! It’s been amazing! If it gets to dirty with mud, I can easily clean it in a creek or with a hose. It’s proven to be super durable during all the different weather conditions we’ve faced.
Wood burning is a unique hobby you could take up. You don't necessarily have to be a good drawer to make an interesting piece. I like how your bed folds up too. I just got a Scamp that I am fixing up. Great vid. Cheers!
That’s something I’ve never thought of! Thanks for the idea! And the bed lift…game changer if you have a permanent bed in the Scamp! 😁
Great video. We are former Scamp owners. Marshall's modification to bed would have solved 2 of my issues with the Scamp: Storage not easily accessible and the table drop-down didn't fit flush with the side support, which created a small dip that annoyed my back.
The bed lift modification was and continues to be the best! If we didn't have it, we'd probably have to alternate who has to go under the bed next because it was such a pain before. 😅
Percy is the star of the show and I love him.
For creative or crafty hobbies, you could expand on your video editing in a creative way. Not even to use for your vlogs, but just to learn more skills. Idk what software you use, but if you subscribe to Adobe then you could add some great animations using After Effects or something.
Percy is so spoiled and he loves it! 😅 I'm currently using Divinci Resolve. I do try to learn something new about the program with every video I make and starting from scratch in my experience of video editing makes for A LOT of new information to learn, which is always a good thing!
That was Hilarious watching the squirrel Tease Percy. Try feeding the crows/ravens a couple of pieces Percy's dry food. They are actually really cool birds except when you go to cook. They will Swoop in & take a steak before they will a piece of bread.
Thanks again for letting us join your Journey.
That squirrel would not leave Percy alone for days! I've always thought crows and ravens were super cool; I just never realized how big they are until now!
They are some Curious & Intelligent animals @@wanderess_sam. The males have been known to swipe shinny objects as well.
Thanks again for Sharing with us.
Forgot to mention: It's cool you all are from KY. We live in Richmond. I'll be watching for you all on the road. We'll be pulling a Bean teardrop camper.
We were pretty close to Richmond on our way back down from New England! It's such a pretty drive out there.
@@wanderess_sam if you're passing thru and just need a place with shore power for a night, hit me up.
Crochet
Hey Sam! If you want a hobby, I love to do counter cross stitch. You can create fun or beautiful artwork without having to have any artistic ability. Let me know if you want more info. I could message you some tutorials if you want. I can also send you some pics of what I’ve done.
Sorry - counted cross stitch.
And I like it better than crochet because I can create actual pictures. Some very talented crochet-ers can do that, but I think cross stitch is easier and makes a bigger variety of more beautiful pieces.
